CAGAYAN de Oro City--“With regards to the story that we have not paid taxes to the Philippine Veterans Investment Development
Corporation (Phividec), there’s a misunderstanding and we are currently clarifying directly with Phividec,” thus stated a representative of the Steag State Power in a message sent to this paper yesterday.
Jerome Soldevilla, Steag communications officer said: “So far, since the start of our operations in 2006, we have complied all statutory requirements including payments of all applicable taxes as prescribed by law,”

CAGAYAN de Oro City--The legal panel of the Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corporation (Phividec) has started to issue demand letters to delinquent taxpayers in the Phividec industrial ecozone in Misamis Oriental, Phividec Board Member Benjo Benaldo said Tuesday. He said that the Steag State Power, Inc. a 220-megawatt coal-fired power plant located in the town of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental topped the list with a real property tax delinquent amounting to Php 447,212,139.85, followed by the Mindanao International Container Terminal (MICT} Php 342,438,335.33, and the Philippine Sinter Corp.
