Enhanced SSS Mobile App can now generate PRN for contribution payments CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- Members of the Social Security System (SSS) can now generate their Payment Reference Number (PRN) at the tip of their fingers through the enhanced SSS Mobile Application.

SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel F. Dooc said that selfemployed (SE), voluntary members (VM), Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), and non-working spouses (NWS) can download the SSS mobile app and log-in using their My.SSS account’s user ID and password, to immediately get their PRN to pay for their monthly contribution.

“There are reports that some of our members are having difficulties in obtaining their PRNs so we included PRN generation as one of the important features of the new version of the SSS Mobile App to provide convenience among SSS members who pay their contributions regularly,” Dooc said.

To generate their PRN through the mobile app, members must log-in to their SSS Mobile App using their existing My.SSS account user ID and password. If they don’t have an account yet, they can also use the SSS Mobile App in creating their My.SSS account by selecting “Register” located at the apps’ sidebar.

After signing in, tap “Generate PRN/SOA” icon in the SSS Mobile App home screen to get a PRN. “They can also view, download and edit their Statement of Account (SOA), particularly the amount of contribution payment and applicable paying period,” added Dooc.

Aside from PRN generation, SE, VM, OFW and NWS members can use the updated SSS mobile app to apply for salary loan and submit their maternity notification.

To submit their salary loan application, tap the “My Loans” icon located at the mobile app’s home screen. They can view and edit the loanable amount.

But members must agree with the terms of service to proceed with viewing the loan disclosure statement

and to submit the salary loan application.

Meanwhile, female members can submit their maternity notification by tapping the “Maternity Notification” icon and providing the expected date of delivery and number of pregnancies/miscarriages.

The enhanced version of SSS mobile app also contains more detailed information such as the breakdown of member’s contribution payments; membership information such as Common Reference Number (CRN), Social Security (SS) Number, name, and date of birth; contact information; date of coverage; coverage and SS number status; and Unified Multipurpose Identification (UMID) Savings Account Number.

“With the latest mobile app version, members can also update their contact information such as landline, mobile number, email address, as well as the local mailing and foreign addresses,” said Dooc.

The SSS mobile app will automatically send an email confirmation to the member’s registered email address with the corresponding transaction number for every successful updating of membership information and submission of salary loan application and maternity notification.

Members can also use the SSS branch locator where they can search for SSS branches and direct them on how to get there through location map and navigator.

“With mobile data or Wi-Fi connection, our members can use the SSS mobile application anytime, anywhere. However, please note that data charges may apply depending on their internet service provider or data usage,” Dooc added.

Members using Android 4.4 Kitkat or higher and IOS 8.0 smartphones can download the enhanced SSS Mobile Application via Google Playstore or App Store. Those who already downloaded the old version will only need to update their mobile app to get the latest version. (SSS Cagayan de Oro)

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental -- Believers and devotees from all walks of life and from 51 barangays of the city flocked to Cotta Shrine in Ozamiz City early Saturday, January 26 to show their devotion to the miraculous image of the Sto. Niño (Child Jesus) by accompanying the image through its voyage.

Now on its 36th year of celebration, Sinulog sa Ozamiz, in honor of the Holy Child, is anchored on the theme, “Sto. Nino: Guide of God’s Children to Humility and Service.”

The theme coincides with Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) plan to dedicate year 2019 to the youth as part of the preparation of the 500 years of in the introduction of Christianity in the country.

The Sto. Niño Fluvial Parade is a significant and mainstay event of the yearly Ozamiz Sinulog Celebration.

It was highlighted by the arrival of the pilgrim image of Santo Niño from Cebu City to be met by a crowd waving red and gold flaglets at Ozamiz Port area.

Religious faithful Cofradia del Sto. Niño chapters, Fr. Pacifico Carloman Nohara Jr, as well as Archbishop in Ozamiz Martin Jumuwad and parish priest Rev. Fr. Sandy Cometa rode with the Sto. Nino, while children took a dip in the sea while the procession was ongoing.

Police officers also waved to the Holy Child, which was on board a sailing ship.

Alonto said, all Mindanao needs now is a break, having a President from Mindanao and having support from the community, and for Mindanao to be united again.

He also shared the importance of shifting the form of government to Federalism.

He said, “In bringing

peace, you have to eradicate corruption. Above everything else, it is the shift to the federal system of government because it is the very soul of his [the President’s] candidacy.”

The Filipino people is prepared to shift to a federal system of government, he added.

The Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) or Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), he said, is the manifestation of the President’s commitment that he will see to it through democratic process to respond to the needs and requirements of the Bangsamoro people but the shift to the Federal system of government will free our people.

Useless kind of faith in God

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up…” (James 4:10, the Holy Bible).

-oooUSELESS KIND OF FAITH IN GOD: Pardon me for saying this but many who profess they believe in God now live their faith merely by traditions and practices which oftentimes are not even clearly provided for in the Bible.

Consequently, what God said in Isaiah 23:19, “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me…” seem to be happening to many believers nowadays.

But whatever, this is a useless and destructive kind of faith, not bringing any blessing from God. This is a kind of faith that, instead, brings the curses listed by the Bible which, under Deuteronomy 28:15-68, amount to 53 curses in all.

This is the kind of faith that

is described, under James 2:17-20, as a dead faith.

-oooKNOWING AND OBEYING THE WORD OF GOD IS THE KEY TO SUCCES, PROSPERITY: The Bible is very clear on this.

In Joshua 1:8 for instance, we are told that success and prosperity could only come to those who read the Bible or the Book of the Law everyday, who meditate on it day and night, and who carefully obey everything that is written in it.

In Deuteronomy 28:1-14, we are told that those who listen to God and obey His commands are honored by God with wealth, health and power throughout their lives. In Matthew 6:33, we are told that everything we need will be given to us only if we seek God first and foremost, and live according to His righteousness.

And in Matthew 7:2427, the admonition is clear: only those who listen to the Word of God---that is, read

His Bible--- and obey Him will live with His blessings, and that those who do not listen and do not obey Him will die.

-oooPEOPLE DON’T LISTEN AND DON’T OBEY GOD WILL BE HIT BY CURSES: A person who does not listen to God, and who does not obey His commands, are, in the words of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, to suffer a “great crash”. A person who does not read the Bible and who does not do God’s will shall be destroyed and ruined by the curses that God will send his way.

Consequently, there is a need to bring back all of humanity to God, through His Word, the Bible. There is a need to compel all of mankind to obey God once again, and set the world towards a new life of success and prosperity. If we do not do this now, God’s curses listed in Deuteronomy 28:15-68 will come,

Normin peace council to convene after Jolo blast CAGAYAN de Oro City--The Regional Peace and Order Council of Region 10 (RPOC10) is set to convene this week to discuss security measures following the deadly blasts in Jolo, Sulu on Sunday.

This was according to Cagayan de Oro Mayor Oscar Moreno, RPOC-10 chairman, who also condemned the bombing at a Catholic cathedral that killed 20 people and wounded more than 100 others.

“There can never be a perfect solution, but at least we in the government has the heart in solving insurgency problem in Mindanao that

is trying hard to find for a long lasting peace and fulfill its dream to be a land of promise,” Moreno said.

Senior Supt. Nelson Aganon, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) director, said the local police also already heightened security measures following the bomb attack.

Aganon said COCPO has started implementing random inspections on backpacks and other similar items to ensure that the city remains secure from terrorist elements.

He said the local police have also coordinated with

churches and other places of convergence such us malls and markets, including the security service providers to implement stricter security measures.

The police official also advised the public to remain calm and comply with lawful police directives in checkpoints “since these activities are routinary security measures.” He also encouraged residents to report to the police and other authorities whatever suspicious activities or items noticed in their vicinity.

MANILA -- The Philippine and Myanmarese governments on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish stronger mechanisms for information sharing and media cooperation.

Signing the document in Malacañang were Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar for the Philippines and Union Minister Pe Myint for Myanmar’s Ministry of Information.

During the occasion, Myint said the signing signifies strengthened communication between the two states and the creation of more avenues to improve Myanmar-Philippines ties.

“From now on, we can continue to discuss concrete measures that we can come up to improve our partnership,” he said.

“We could now send our media workers there, materials in Myanmar to be aired, and we can now cooperate in battling fake news,” he told the Philippine

DAVAO CITY -- Rice farmers will now be able to draw cash advances from the government for their preharvest requirements – from planting to other crop-related activities – starting this cropping season, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said.

Piñol said the credit facility, which has been established by the Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) and the National Food Authority (NFA), was aimed at freeing farmers from the shackles of loan sharks and traders, who charge them usurious rates.

Both the ACPC and the NFA are under the Department of Agriculture.

Piñol said the credit facility, dubbed the Production Loan Easy Access (PLEA), will only be available for farmers who would agree to sell their harvest to the NFA though.

“The PLEA program is the government’s intervention to provide farmers an option to their “cash advance” requirements which they usually get from loan sharks and local traders who charge between 5% to 10%

interest rates per month,” Piñol added.

He said the loan is collateralfree and will be slapped with a 3-percent interest over a six-month period. Each farmer will get as much as PHP50,000. “(The loan is) payable after the harvest season,” he said.

The credit facility will be officially launched in Sultan Kudarat province on Tuesday, January 29.

The next cropping season would soon start but this early, many farmers were already starting to prepare their fields for planting.

Piñol said farmers wanting to avail of the loan would have to go to the NFA office or buying station nearest them to register.

“As soon as he is registered, the DA, through the Information and Communication Technology Service (ICTS), will conduct a validation of his farm location, the size of land and his projected production through aerial mapping, geo-tagging and geo-referencing,” Piñol said.

Later, my mother decided to change my surname from BENT HABIB BALINDONG to HABIB in order to shorten my name by filing another Certificate of Live Birth with the Respondent on August 1, 2006 which is an erroneous remedy because she should have corrected the previously registered certificate of live birth; Nevertheless, my mother acted in good faith when she filed my second certificate of live birth as she unaware of the rules of civil registration, a copy of my Certificate of Live Birth with Registry No. 2006-5823 is attached as Annex “B”; 7. And aside from my surname, the birth date of the petitioner is erroneously recorded therein (second birth certificate) as 24 June 1989 instead of 24 June 1987; 8. Petitioner has been consistently and habitually using her surname BENT HABIB BALINDONG and date of birth 24 June 1987 since elementary up to her college education and all her records bear such name date of birth as evidence by the following documents: Official Transcript of Records and Diploma from Mindanao State University (MSU)- Marawi City, PRC License ID and Certification of Marriage, copy of which hereto attached as Annexes “C”, “D”, “E” and “F”, respectively; 9. The erroneous registered second birth certificate must be cancelled in order to avoid any legal problem that may adversely affect her in the future and, more importantly, so that her first birth certificate which contains the correct spelling of her surname name will be issued to her by the PSA. Cancellation of the second birth certificate that were being registered with the respondent; 10. Finally, the petitioner submits that she has no pending criminal or administrative case and that nobody will be prejudiced by granting this petition.

Finding the aforesaid petition to be sufficient in form and substance, it is hereby ordered that the same be set for hearing before this court on February 6, 2019 at 8:30 o’clock in the morning.

LGU, NHA to start building houses for 678 Tagumenyo families

TAGUM CITY -- A total of 678 homeless Tagumenyo families will soon have a house they can call as their own as the City Government of Tagum under the leadership of Mayor Allan Rellon and the National Housing Authority kicked off the five-hectare first phase development of the Mankilam Tagumpay Village amounting to 24 million pesos, forming part of the 14-hectare overall development of the colossal housing project for the city’s urban poor.

The groundbreaking event was held in Prk. Abaca, Barangay Mankilam on January 25, 2019. The 5.124 hectare-land features 339 residential lots with medium-rise buildings and

is expected to be completed after a six to eight monthperiod.

The area is one of the major projects of the City Government of Tagum through the newly-minted City Housing and Land Management Office in partnership with the National Housing Authority under its Resettlement Assistance Program for Local Government Units (RAP-LGU).

The site in Mankilam where Tagumpay Village will be erected is a property owned by the local government and was purchased years ago as part of its land banking initiative. The budget for the construction of the housing units, on the other hand, is financed by the National Housing Authority.

DAVAO CITY -- A villager was killed and nearly 20,000 people across Davao Region evacuated to safer grounds after major river channels swelled to alarming levels due to continuous light to moderate rains on Saturday.

A landslide incident in Barangay Tapia, Montevista, Compostela Valley province killed Rommel Gogo, while 12-year-old Krisel Hermosora is still missing after she was swept by the rampaging waters of Handorumog River in Nabunturan, Compostela Valley.

Leslie Lao Francisco, information officer of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Region 11 or Davao Region, said on Sunday that based on the reports of the provincial and city disaster risk reduction and management offices, the flood and landslide incidents in 58 barangays across the region forced the evacuation of 4,116 families or 19,923 individuals.

Aside from Mankilam, the LGU also partnered with NHA by providing its property in Barangay Canocotan for another housing project that will also cater to the city’s urban poor and the city’s tribal community.

Mayor Rellon is grateful for the trust of the national line agency even though this is the first partnership forged by the LGU with them. “Wala ko mi-expect… the 14 hectares will be fully developed na ready na for housing. Baka 3,000 or 4,000 families ang masulod niini nga lugar. So that’s a good development… It’s a matter of paperworks na lang among pagahimuon.”

Aside from the housing project, the city government is also planning livelihood programs for the residents through the Public Education and Employment Services Office.

Moreover, NHA believes that capitalizing on human development more than commerce is what triggers urban development.

NEDA 11 director Maria Lourdes Lim told Kapihan sa PIA on Friday that the multi-billion airport development project involves the provision of additional facilities and other necessary improvement to enhance safety, security, access, passenger and cargo movement efficiency at the airport, excluding air traffic control, air navigation and their associated services.

She said a feasibility study is currently being undertaken for the airport development project.

Lim added that the DOTr is also working on the procurement of the consultancy services for the advance engineering, environmental impact assessment, and detailed engineering design for the “optimum development of the Davao Airport. “ Lim said the improvements are necessary to revitalize the airport, citing Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines’ assessment that it is still good for another 10 years.

A press release issued by the DOTr on October 24, 2018 said the agency granted Chealsea Logistics Holdings Corporation with “original proponent status” for the operation, maintenance, and expansion of the airport, nearly five months after the company submitted its unsolicited proposal on May 28.

It added the company will also “offer a new technology to enhance passenger experience and an airport operator which captures data to deliver efficient operations.”

“Well, of course, he (Duterte) was so angry for one. For another, he is so disappointed that despite the movement to thread the path towards peace and development, there are still certain forces in that region who sowed terror and killed and murdered people,” Panelo said in a Palace briefing.

“You know, you don’t even have to ask why he is angry; everybody is angry now for that bombing,” he added, noting that although he has yet to speak with the President himself, sources have told him about the President’s reaction.

Panelo noted that the President has already tasked the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to secure the safety of the citizenry, attend to the injured, and to provide succor to victims’ families.

He refused to comment on suspicions that the attack might be related to the BOL’s recent ratification noting that the President would rather wait for the results of investigation.

“He will wait for the investigation. Of course, one Islamic State is claiming responsibility. I read it in one of the briefers, that one terrorist group is claiming responsibility for that. But we have to wait for the investigation -- who’s behind it and what group or individuals,” Panelo said.

No martial law means chaos Panelo, meanwhile, defended anew the imposition of martial law in Mindanao in the wake of the deadly twin bombings in Jolo saying that giving in to calls to lift it would mean “chaos.”

“If you can do that under a martial law regime, then the more reason you should maintain it and be more strict in the implementation of security measures in that area,” Panelo said.

“If there was no martial law there, then there would have been chaos and anarchy there. You see how they were able to get Marawi? There was no martial law then,” he added.

He stressed that martial law was “effective” and that the twin explosions were merely isolated cases.

“It’s effective but this incident is isolated, by the way. So, we will have to investigate how it happened,” Panelo said.

“Can you imagine how many bombings there would have been if there was no martial law there in operation?” he added.

Panelo further said government is also investigating possible lapses in security which allowed the incident to occur.

“If you have security there and there is one or two bombs being placed inside, then there must be a lapse in security. There is no other reasonable conclusion,” Panelo said.

Peace prevails Despite the blasts, Panelo assured that government will continue its efforts to track down the perpetrators and ensure long-lasting peace in Mindanao.

“No amount of terrorism can stop the journey to peace and development in that region,” Panelo said.

“The law will not give them (perpetrators) mercy.

We will pursue them to the ends of the earth, until every killer is placed behind bars,”
