Netizens gang up on Rufus over ABS-CBN Franchise

AGAYAN DE ORO CITY - Netizens and solid President Duterte supporters ganged up on 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez after MDN published a banner headline reporting the congressman’s bill filed in Congress, urging the Lower House to start conducting hearings for the renewal of television giant ABS CBN.

They have accused Rep Rodriguez of representing Abs Cbn allegedly in exchange for “grease money.”

But after MDN posted said news item on January 13, 2020, irate netizens suspected to be solid Duterte suppoters ganged up on this city’s 2nd district congressman.

Among those who has openly criticized Rodriguez was former hotel manager Jerome dela Fuente, saying Rep Rufus should instead focus on filing bills that would benefit the people of Cagayan de Oro.

Dela Fuente said the city representative should instead help in getting more funding for Laguindingan International Airport which has more problems of upgrade, as the airport has always been the topics of bad impressions from travelers and businessmen because of its very poor performance.

CAGAYAN de Oro City -- The frantic search for face masks has reached Mindanao as anxious families scour hardware and medical supply stores to

buy for their relatives in Metro Manila and nearby Batangas.

Supplies of N95 face masks, the most favored item, had run out from the

stores in Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Davao cities.

Journalist Bobby Timonera of MindaNews said he considered himself lucky after he was able to buy N95 masks from an online store for his children in

Manila evening last Sunday, although these have not been delivered yet as of press time.

collection for the Prelature of Marawi which was then assisting residents—both Catholic parishioners and Muslim brothers and sisters—displaced by the war.

Dela Pena told MindaNews on Wednesday that the second collection given by the other Catholic churches in 2017 was “not so much for the Prelature of Marawi. After all, Christians in Marawi are a tiny minority. It was mainly for the IDPs (internally displaced persons), majority of whom were Muslims.” “ The Prelature was simply the conduit of the church’s aid, together with the social action ministry of

the Diocese of Iligan. Then, because of this outpouring of help and support, we were able to establish Duyog (Accompany) Marawi, in partnership with other religious and faith-based nongovernmental organizations and civil society organizations and aid organizations both local and foreign,” he said.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) on Monday called on dioceses to help residents displaced by “this difficult situation” in Luzon.

CBCP President and Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, said one way of helping is through the second

collection in Sunday’s masses which would be given “to the most affected local churches.”

“Another form of solidarity is to respond to other needs, such as medical care and attention to those in evacuation centers,” CBCP News quoted Valles as saying.

According to CB CP News, Archbishop Gilbert Garcera of Lipa had earlier appealed for aid to augment their ongoing relief operations.

Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) of Lumbia Central School has taking a lot of steps to achieve several form of drills and inputs to our school children, their parents, and the teachers respectively. These said inputs are in the form of lectures or through symposiums. Last December 04, 2019 at around 9 o’clock in the morning the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) of our region with its team leader, PSMS BRYAN RYAN LABITAD came to Lumbia Central School to give a lecture during the Bomb Threats Symposium. It was composed by learners, parents, and teachers who audience the abovementioned event. The very essence of the above topic is to educate ever yone when the threat of bomb comes in. We believe that this form of disaster is a human-induced and not due to natural catastrophe.

Therefore, human beings have to be careful in handling such situations.

The speakers who were connected in the Philippine National Police (PNP) provided all the theory and several strategies when certain mechanism occurs. They have shown real samples of explosives for the benefit of everybody including its precautionary measures once they’ll be given a chance to recover or find some. They also provided the evacuation procedures during the presence of suspicious items or if threats of bombing occur.

The parents found it very beneficial so with the learners and teachers. Thinking that our school is the lead school in the hinter land; our distance is one challenging factor to invite some exemplary speakers yet we have proven that it all takes determination to make things possible. The symposium ended with so much information that could be as useful as we live day by day. In recognition to their expertise, our school awarded them with certificates with the desire to show our gesture of gratefulness.

WHY some people grow up to derive great pleasure from reading while others don’t. That why is consequential. Leisure reading has been linked to a range of good academic and professional outcomes.

But a chief factor seems to the household one is born into and the culture of reading that parents create within it.

Eve r y s o c i e t y h a s some group of people – somewhere between a minuscule amount and half the adults – that read a lot in their leisure time.

The patterns are very, very predictable. First and most intuitively, the more education someone has, the more likely they are to be a reader.

It is almost tautological to observe that being a reader sets a child up for academic success since so much of school is reading.

And that means to an end argument in support of reading says nothing of the many joys it can bring here. But even though plenty of people simply don’t enjoy reading or having.

Middle East remains fragile, Pres. Trump’s reelection seen THE advent of the year 2020 has everyone getting a glimpse of the challenges and opportunities ahead.

The Iran-US conflict almost blew out of proportion. The community of nations followed the unfolding event, up close and personal.

There is no doubt that the delicate Iran-US conflict brought every world leader on the toe. In some corners, those with fertile imaginations were already trying to configure the raising of the Armageddon curtains in the smoldering desert of the Middle East. WWIII! The unstable price of oil in the world market unprecedentedly moved while oil

dependent countries, like the Philippines, expected gloomy days ahead.

In fact, President Rodrigo Duterte called an emergency meeting to reactivate the “task force” that would evacuate Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in the Middle East. The time of uncertainty was the call of the day.

However, the fidgety international community heaved a sigh of relief with the US stepping a foot backward. Frisky US President Donald Trump cools down when no American casualties were reported. Iran launched a barrage of missile attacks on US bases in Iraq, a few days after the

killing of Iran’s top General.

The imminent conflict started with the controversial killing of Maj. General Quasem Soleimani, the top man of the Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iran accused the US of assassinating Soleimani while about to board a car at the Bhagdad International Airport.

The US accused Soleimani of killing hundreds of Americans in Iraq. Trump alleged that the killing of Soleimani was precipitated following intelligence report that Soleimani was plotting to attack and kill Iraq-based Americans. eruption showed as always the best and worst in Filipinos and unlike before where stories of both greed and generosity are reported only in traditional media, now they are being shared countless times among netizens around the world through social media.

Topping the greed list are the pharmacies and drug stores who jacked up the prices of face masks by more than 100 percent or about seven pesos to P100 a piece, inviting both ire and attention from the public and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Their greed stands in sharp contrast to the generosity shown by everyday Filipinos who give and share

what they can to the families displaced and severely affected by the eruption.

Truly it is during times of calamity that we witness the best and the worst in humanity. Grammarly machine for research articles

IT is common for research journal publishers to use a software of grammarly machine. For English native speakers, writing academic articles is easier than the non-native speakers. To avoid grammatical mistakes, the journal publishers use a grammarly machine software. This machine is used for especially the articles written by the nonnative speakers.

We can find both the strengths and weaknesses.

As an editor and reviewer since 1989, I have found a number of interesting comments made by the grammarly machine. In some ways, this grammarly machine is very accurate.

For example, when it deals with punctuation and com-

plicated sentences (wordy sentences), it can detect them accurately. I am really amazed with this result.

However, for certain aspects, this machine is weak. Not all of the specific terms of science have been adopted by the grammarly machine. For example, in linguistics, there is a term of interlanguage (language in the learning process).

The grammarly machine gives a red line. It is stated that it is wrong. The machine suggests to change by giving the alternatives.

It suggests to change the term of “interlanguage” into “international language.”

If we follow that suggestion, the essence of the scientific article must be misleading. The reasoning

power is scientifically decreased. In other words, the scientific article becomes unscientific.

Another example, in economics, we have the terms “accounts receivable” and “accounts payable.”

The grammarly machine suggests to change them into “receivable account” and “payable account.” In terms of head and modifier in English grammar, this suggestion is correct. But so far, that’s what has always been used in economics: finance and accounting.

CDO transport coop willing to dialogue with objectors

CAGAYAN de Oro City – The first cooperative transport group to adopt the government’s public utility vehicle modernization program (PUVMP) in the city said Tuesday it was willing to sit down with drivers and operators who are opposed to its operations here.

started its dry-run with two of its modernized PUV plying the Barangay Bugo, Cagayan de Oro to Barangay Igpit, Opol route on Sunday, said Samuel Abello, Orotsco general manager.

However, Abello said some individuals harassed the cooperative’s passenger assistant officer when one of the Orotsco PUVs passed

through Barangay Puerto for operating without consent from the area’s drivers and operators’ association.

After the incident, Abello said the PUV still continued to ply its designated routes, and that they are now in the process of identifying those responsible for disrupting their operation.

Bullying has gone rampant today. A child’s greatest fear in school is to be bullied. It happens not just in school but even outside school premises. It is difficult for them to handle this situation for they have already absorbed all the negative things being thrown to them. Negativity already embraces them and traumatizes their young minds.

They now lack confidence to face everyone, thinking they are inferior with them and they don’t have the right to be with other people. Another effect is depression. That’s why DepEd has lobbied for the passage of what is now known as RA 10627, the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013.

For his part, Quiño said, “We, here in Manolo, is very honored to be the partner of the Duterte Administration and the PCOO under Secretary Andanar to be chosen as the site for the Government Communication Academy. We are

all excited for the project and we also value the importance of how to make and process information in communication.”

The facility is envisioned to be a high-technology school that would comprise classrooms, auditorium, newsroom, meeting rooms, canteen, and community radio and television facilities.

RESEARCH has indicated that young people today are likely to have 17 jobs over five different careers after they leave school. So, what are the kinds of skills that they’ll need in order to thrive in that environment?

Well, it seems to be ver y natural that they w i l l at t he m i n i mu m have versatility – you know, the ability to go from one to the other

to the next job. That versatility implies in a sense a broad and deep education – deep in the sense of deeper learning of existing disciplines whether it’s mathematics or humanities. But, modernized knowledge in areas such as entrepreneurship and robotics and wellness must be studied, too. They all matter in today’s world and certainly for tomor-

row’s world as well.

In addition to all of this, it’s also a question of how we use that knowledge. So, our learners will need their skills developed – creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration.

And above and beyond that, if you reflect about what makes people successful in life, it is also how the y b ehave and engage with the world.

ART must be cherished even during childhood because this is one way that a child can express his/her creativeness. The other one is sport which is of course one of the elements of MAPEH. Although some may regard art education as a luxury, simple creative activities are some of the building blocks of child development. This has been proven throughout time by both psychologists and pedia-

tricians alike. Learning to create and appreciate visual aesthetics may be more important than ever to the development of the next generation of children as they grow up.

Many of the motions involved in making art such as holding a paintbrush or scribbling with a crayon are essential to the growth of fine motor skills in young children.

According to the National Institutes of Health, de-

velopmental milestones around age three should include drawing a circle and beginning to use safety scissors. Around age four, children may be able to draw a square and begin cutting straight lines with scissors. Many preschool programs emphasize the use of scissors because it develops the dexterity children will need for writing. That is why it is always exciting to teach art in the MAPEH subject.

In response to the issues on reading proficiencies of learners in the entire country, the Curriculum and Learning Management Division(CLMD) had come up to a project which cares for non-readers called Project Care for NorMin Readers(Project CNR),for El Salvador City Division called as Project CER or the Project for ELSA readers.The main goal of this project is to make every elementary and high school students an independent reader in the Mother Tongue , Filipino and English In our school we have come up with a reading intervention program called Home Reading Helpers.

Home Reading Helper provides a suite of reading programs, designed for a variety of students in all grades and at every level.

Each program is experiential and student-focused, encouraging collaborative classroom learning and providing teachers with the necessary tools and strategies to properly leverage the programs

within their schools.

The reading programs provided, include:Kinder Corner(Literacy counts ) Reading Roots (Grade 1)( Read and Rise )Reading Wings (Grades 2-6)Grade 2-3 (Read-up)Grade 4-6 (Read to Achieve)Kinder Corner (Literacy count) aims to establish a strong foundation for learning in the early years; and to help children make a smooth transition from home, child care, or preschool settings to school settings.Read and Rise is designed for children reading and literacy .Read and Rise targets children from birth through first grade. This Reading Strategies is to promote the development and Growth of literacy in the children.Read-up is a reading program for grade 2 and 3 pupils. And it aims to help struggling readers be able to learn to read.

Reading with a child every day nurtures vocabulary, language, and early literacy skills. It also builds the child’s confidence to work through challenges and persistence in difficult tasks, and develops social and emotional skills, which are just as essential to school success.Read to Achieve is reading program for grade 4-6 pupils designed to equip adolescent readers with the comprehension skills and strategies they need to succeed in science, social studies, and English/Literature classes.

Stage 1 submarine cable component which increases the transfer capacity of the existing corridor. A second phase of this project is an additional submarine cable for N-1 contingency which will enable the transmission grid to withstand a major system disturbance with minimal disruption to the system between Negros and Panay islands.

My experience in teaching MAPEH

TEACHING MAPEH to kids from Grades 1 to 10 is always exciting because I have watched kids personally develop their music and sports skills. Although they don’t go together, music and sports are one of the three key elements of a kid’s non-intellectual creative side, the third one being art.

When teaching music to a first grader who has just graduated from kin-

dergarten, always ensure to orient the class on why sounds and beats (the basic elements of music) are important to humans.

Then you slowly work your way in discussing about basic beats and rhythm.

For instance, you may ask the kids on what helps them know the rhythm or a song or musical piece.

Perhaps you can introduce an elementary rhyme or cull a stanza from the

pop song of the month.

Next kids will learn on combining high and low sounds so beautiful music will be made. Of course, we don’t expect our kids to become Mozarts but at this point in the school year, we can confidently say that kids can at least recognize what coherent music is about. And then you are ready to take on second graders by the next school year.

To maintain the continuous transmission of power towards the major load centers in Mandaue and Mactan during N-1 condition, the PhP 1.9 billion Cebu-Lapu Lapu 230kV transmission line project is currently being undertaken, with survey and right-ofway activities ongoing.

Another major interconnection is the PhP 19.8 billion Cebu-Bohol 230kV Interconnection Project, which, upon completion, will address overloading issues and enable sharing of power between the two islands, especially the growing demand in Bohol and will eventually form part of the Leyte-Bohol 230kV loop system.

Lumbia Central School accepted the challenge to become the ceremonial school for the 2nd Quarter NSED under the CY 2019. The whole preparation started prior to the opening of the class for SY 2019-2020. It was indeed tough planning out everything. Yet, when everyone in the team knows how to communicate, there is no reason for such team not to operate. Until that very day came at last. Below was the scenario we prepared and agreed into.

“It was exactly 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon of June 20, 2019 when Lumbia Central School turned its alarm to signify that a 6.5 magnitude of earthquake struck. Everyone followed the proper protocol which is the execution of the “duck, cover, and hold” technique while keeping calm inside their respective classrooms.

Right after the shaking, they immediately went out using the “buddy-buddy system” proceeding to the school’s evacuation site bringing every classroom’s medicine kits followed by a head count. The checking for possible injuries of the learners was done.

Immediate first aid was given to the pregnant teacher who had a head laceration due to falling debris. There was also one girl learner who fainted while at the evacuation site, two other boys who had leg injuries due to sprain from sudden quake. All patients were being transported by the medical team towards the treatment area for triage bandaging and other treatment needed. One fifth

grader was given oxygen with the aid of our BJMP responders due to failure of breathing caused by sudden hypertension. There were exactly two (2) kinder learners and three (3) from SPED who went missing yet successfully recovered by the marshals within the conduct of the drill. No accounted casualty or left missing after the quake.”

By design, the abovementioned drill was followed by a short program at the Lumbia Central School Covered Court where teachers and learners gathered as one full of enthusiasm and eagerness to know the evaluation as we performed together.

There were several partners who came to show undying support for the success of the said event, e.g. Office of the Civil Defense (OCD), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine Airforce (PAF), Philippine National Police (PNP), City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), Brgy. Council (LGU), Parents and GPTA Officers respectively.

The aforesaid partners also served as evaluators of whom gave their commendations and recommendations. The team was led by Ms. Mai Trozo from the OCD, followed by SFO3, SAMSON T VELARDE, Fire Station 3 Commander from the BFP, and concluded by Mr. Ryan Blanco, Division Office DRRM. The drill was given an evaluation rating of 94.5%; outstanding! Truly remarkable; making everyone happy and motivated.

L ife is li ke climbing mountain, full of sweat and struggles. When you reach the top, you feel the sweetness of that sweat as it gives solace and success in life.

Chasing our dreams, need to have sweat. The more you sweat, the more hopes you have to move on in life.

Facing life is like moving on as the rising of the sun. You have to buckle your life with strength.

This is life and I must face it.

When I was young, I had witnessed the twists and turns in my life. I remember my parents woke up early to meet and sustain our needs.

Going to farm at dawn was not that easy with a lot of heavy loads needed in plowing the farm. Even rooster and hens crackling in the morning urged us to start the day.

From the coldness of the bones to the drenching scorch of the sun, my parents unceasingly dug the soil with bare muddy hands, hoping that someday all their children can taste abundantly the goodness of life. As parents, they strive hard to give the best for their children.

As a result ,I had used the weapon of knowledge as a tool. I studied very hard and gained with flying colors. Burning midnight candle till dawn

while cooking bibingka, puto, and suman ready to sell at school. For every penny is worth the future of my life. I even washed my neighbor’s clothes and dishes to meet my needs.

The tears and the drops of my sweat burst every dream that I have. I had chased that dream with sweat, hoping that I can make my parents proud and happy .Indeed, I received the sweetness of that sweat that my parents and I had been chasing before.

Life is indeed full of bitterness but if we turn it into nothingness life would be sweeter. For I made every drop of my sweat, my great challenge.

Hasim said issues concerning the procurement of the road right of way (RROW) had been factored

in while drafting the study, but believed this would not cause a delay in the implementation of the project as the agency is still on track.

He said he hopes to complete the negotiation for the procurement of RROW by end of this year or even ahead of the timeframe if the issues raised by the family would be settled earlier.

He said he hopes the family “would be able to realize this project would be for the betterment and progress” of Samal Island.

The agency plans to commence the actual construction by next year, Hasim said.

We are not yet on the implementation of the construction. We are not running out of time,” he said.

He said Asian Development Bank is currently looking for consultants who will draft the detailed engineering design, which it targets to complete by December this year or January 2021.

In a briefer emailed to MindaNews by the DPWH, the objectives of the DavaoSamal bridge include providing a “resilient & reliable transportation link between Metro Davao & IGaCoS, enhancing internal mobility and external linkage to support the growth potential of the Davao Region” and “ease of access to tourism activities in IGaCoS, enhance community access to employment, education and other social services and alternative route during emergency situation and disasters.”

of this project on November 6, 2019. The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Board confirmed it on November 29, 2019.

According to the NEDA, the Davao-Samal bridge “aims to provide a permanent road linkage between Davao City and the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCOS) resulting in the reduction of travel time and reliability constraints currently experienced through the use of ferry services.”

It added that construction of the bridge, which can serve around 25,000 vehicles a day, is scheduled from 2021 to 2024 and the operation eyed beginning 2025.

According to “The Study on the Davao Integrated Development Program (DIDP) Master Planning March 1999” by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the bridge connecting the city and Samal was recommended because the island has a high potential for high-grade residential development, environmentfriendly industrial estate, and cultural and financial centers under the BIMPEAGA scheme as well as resort development due to its adjacency to the city.

It said the project is urgently needed for land transportation because of the high development potential of Samal Island, the expectation of rapid progress in development and security of about 100,000 residents and around 700,000 tourists.

Like cars, motorcycle stores and shops are selling their units cheaper to even bargain basement prices which enticed more Filipinos to buy them on installment basis. As if city residents already have enough problems dealing with car owners and discourteous PUV drivers.

Then there’s Angkas, the single motorcycle transport service whose operations in Cagayan de Oro were stopped by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to the consternation of many commuters who found the service as their only hope to travel to and from their office and school on time. ******************* The bottomline solution to this situation is of course, an effective, efficient and convenient mass transport system but setting it up takes years of transport studies and intensive lobbying to domestic and international financial institutions to fund the acquisition of units and infrastructure.

But as the recent incident involving irate Bugo route jeepney drivers, the drivers operating the government approved modernized jeepneys and their passengers showed, change poses challenges and invites animosity from those who seek to avoid or oppose it for fear of losing their livelihood.

Given this backdrop, it would take time for government and stakeholders to convince motorists driving their own cars and motorcycles to give up or at least limit use of their vehicles in favor of a mass transport system. And yet

the drivers and operators of these existing PUV units insist that they should be prioritized by both government and the public.

The existing jeepneys, motorelas and what have you are unsafe, decrepit smoke belchers whose value lies in the fact that they’re the cheapest, most prevalent mode of public transport.

It’s time for the commuters to speak up and demand better service not only from government but also from existing transport operators and drivers.

Not to mention other weaknesses. For example, grammarly machine cannot analyze the organizational side of reasoning. In scientific articles, there is the term “moves”. For this, we can read my book about thought organizations in abstract international scientific articles published by the Jakarta Index publishing company.

Every paragraph of scientific writing has a reasoning organization. For example, the main topic and the details. The main sentence can be either deductive or inductive (at the beginning and at the end of the paragraph).

If the main sentence is at the beginning, it’s a deductive type paragraph. If the main sentence is at the end, it is an inductive paragraph type. This is all the readers already know. There are also mixed paragraphs: the main sentence is at the beginning and at the end, although the way of writing is somewhat different.

Among several paragraphs, there is also the “moves”. It is important for scientific journal editors to understand. The systematic thought and flow can lead to the end in the form of research framework. The good or bad points of scientific articles are precisely in this section. Unfortunately, grammarly machine cannot detect it.

Foreign language editors always understand English written by a nonnative speaker. Editing the grammatical mistakes is easy but editing the organization is more difficult. The organization of scientific writing is more important because it is difficult to edit or revise if language editors do not master the fields or disciplines in the scientific article. The grammar machine cannot do it.

Dr. Djuwari is the director of language laboratory at STIE Perbanas Surabaya, the editor of some research journals in the Philippines and Indonesia. He is also a journalist in some newspapers in Indonesia; the president of international association of scholarly publishers, editors, and reviewers (IASPER).

An official signing can probably take place at the end of the year,” Breiter told reporters during a media event hosted by the Swiss Embassy in Manila.

He said the two countries are keen on exploring cooperation in select tourism products, such as culinary tourism and ecotourism.

“We have different topics that we both love with regards to gastronomy. It’s a topic (that) we want to explore and see how can we bring chefs from the Philippines to Switzerland and how can we bring Swiss chefs to the Philippines?

How can we have a culinary exchange? You know already now there’s a lot of Filipinos studying in Switzerland, either hospitality or gastronomy, and so we see a big potential,” Breiter said.

He noted a “big” potential in niche products, such as bird watching and mountain activities.

“People who are going for a volcano or hiking up a volcano is, for Switzerland, very special. We don’t have that. For Filipinos who like to go hiking, you don’t have the Alps with the glaciers, so this is again something that we can work very well together,” he added.

‘Of strategic importance’ Breiter said Filipino and Swiss markets are strategically important to both countries on several aspects, including tourist spending.

Higher than the 24,000 Swiss visitors recorded in 2015, Manila received more than 31,000 in 2018, some of whom are the big-spending dive tourists.

On Switzerland’s side, he said arrivals of Filipino tourists to the European country also increased to 40,000 in 2018 against the recorded 20,000 four years ago, making the Philippines its fifth strongest market in Southeast Asia.

He said their operations in Southeast Asia began seven years ago, with Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia and had rallied an increase dramatically, like in the Philippines, in the past four years.

“The economy of the Philippines is going very well and now we have a lot of people who want to go to this dream destination Switzerland,” Breiter said.

Although visa relaxation is out of the discussion due to the Schengen rules, he said entering Switzerland has been much easier for Filipinos compared years ago.

“It is much easier now for the Philippines to receive a Schengen visa. The timing is much faster. Of getting an appointment and also the visa process. At the moment, we are at a very

good level,” Breiter said.

On the other hand, Asian utility vehicles declined their sales by 15.4 percent to 40,838 units in 2019 from 48,271 units in 2018.

Sales of light trucks went up by 3.9 percent year-onyear to 7,915 units from 7,619 units.

Trucks and buses categories four and five both posted decrements in sales last year of 5.9 percent and 29.4 percent, respectively.

For December 2019 alone, CAMPI registered 5.5-percent growth yearon-year with 33,715 units sold from 31,945 unit sales in the same month in 2018.

Commercial vehicle sales registered an 8.1-percent growth, with sales reaching 24,469 units last month from 22,644 units in December 2018.

Passenger cars sold in December 2019 were lower by 0.6 percent year-on-year recording 9,246 unit sales from 9,301 units in the same month in 2018.

Gutierrez said the industry targets to continue expanding its sales in the coming months and for the full-year of 2020.

“We will not rest on our laurels as we aim for further growth in the coming months, and hopefully for the whole of 2020,” he said.

PayMongo, GCash partner to empower MSMEs with mobile payments G Cash, the Philippines’ leading mobile wallet, has partnered with PayMongo, a Silicon Valleybacked payments facilitator, to provide an expanded mobile payments platform for micro-, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.
