CAGAYAN de Oro City-The P2 million bounty for the information leading to arrest and identification of the killers of Dr. Ricardo Rotoras, president of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), could
now be claimed from the local police office here. Chief Inspector Mardy Hortilloza, the spokesperson of the Cagayan De Oro City Police Office (COCPO), said that the reward money is now in the hands of the local police command. “Except for the P500, 000 committed by the City Council, the P2 million cash
reward is now ready to be awarded to any informant that could lead to the arrest and identity of the killers of Rotoras,” Hortilloza said. He said that the Masonic District and the city government have earlier raised the P2 million, while the City Council has yet to approve an ordinance for the appropriation and the

and Universities (PASCU), at the time he was killed was gunned down in front of his house by unidentified gunmen. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) are now conducting a “matching” examination of the guns recovered during a raid in the house of an architect who was a

THE Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) will not significantly impact on the prices of basic commodities, Trade secretary Ramon M. Lopez said. Lopez led the price monitoring at supermarkets of Victoria Plaza and Gaisano Mall of Davao on Friday to see if TRAIN has any effect on the movement of prices of basic commodities. He allayed fears that prices will shoot up with the implementation of the tax reform program due to the P2.50 per liter excise tax on petroleum which is expected to cause an increase in transport cost. He said the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will continue to monitor the supermarkets across the country to ensure they won’t sell goods beyond the suggested retail price. He said the manufacturers promised not to increase prices of commodities since the hike brought about by the new tax rates is negligible and will increase prices only by 5 centavos.
