MISAMIS ORIENTAL -Mayor Gomer A. Sabio had prioritized to stop the illegal quarry that had been taking place both in the river and mountainside noting that Tagoloan river ranked as the 13th largest river in the country with its sands considered first-class. In an episode of Network Briefing News hosted by PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar, Sabio said, “Within two months since I assumed office, we had stopped the illegal quarry in our municipality. Now there are only six legal quarry firms that are operating and were issued with proper permits.” Since putting a stop to the illegal quarry the marine life in the river had gradually returned and that residence near the river had now continued their fishing activities. ILIGAN CITY – Police officers have arrested one of two suspects in the killing of a 35-year-old nurse in Valencia City, Bukidnon. Lt. Col. Cipriano Bazar, Valencia City police chief, said operatives collared Jason Jamero, 20, at a construction site in Purok 9, Barangay Candelaria in San Fernando, Bukidnon early Friday. Jamero, a native of Valencia City, works as a laborer at the construction site. The other suspect remains at large, according to the police. Investigators recovered from Jamero the cellular phone of the victim, Soriano Moreno, a nurse at the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Kalilangan town.
