Tamayo said on Monday that MinDA Secretary Abul Khayr D. Alonto held a meeting with Madam Lam Guo, chairman of the Silk Road Investment HK, at his office in Davao City on Monday where he bannered the potential investment opportunities in Mindanao, particularly medical tourism, power infrastructure, real estate, and retirement facilities. The company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Provincial Government of Palawan last year that would pave the way for the entry of Chinese investments in similar areas, according to Tamayo. He said the Chinese have yet to identify specific commitments for Mindanao and Palawan as they are still in the exploratory stage but added, “what is certain is that, investments will pour in Palawan area,

Permit needed to post political ads on PUVs POLITICAL advertisements are allowed to be posted on public utility vehicles (PUVs) such as jeepneys, buses and taxis as long as a permit is secured from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). In a statement on Tuesday, the LTFRB said operators should secure a permit for posting transit political ads that comply with the regulations
set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on sizes of campaign materials. “Those who wish to place advertisements must go through the application process to get a permit and pay the required fees,” the LTFRB statement read. The Board has issued Memorandum Circular 2013-005 (MC 2013005), which was amended by MC
2015-029, that lifted the prohibition of political ads on PUVs following a Supreme Court decision in the case of 1-UTAK vs. Comelec promulgated on April 14, 2015. Maranao mothers get skills training
DOZENS of Maranao mothers in the towns of Bubong and Saguiaran in Lanao del Sur cook turmeric powder and palapa, a Maranao condiment during a livelihood skills training which is part of the Creating Spaces Project. The training aims to provide economic opportunities to mothers who got married at an early age. The mothers are expected to generate income from selling processed foods. The project is also linking the mothers to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to help them market and compute the cost of their products which are not only based from the raw ingredients but also includes the maintenance and sustainability of their utensils and equipment. The project is funded by Global Affairs Canada through Oxfam, and is implemented by Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) in partnership with Al-Mujadilah ECONOMIC BOOST.
