TUBOD, Lanao del Norte-Now that the “no” votes won in the recently held plebiscites in Lanao del Norte, Governor Imelda Dimapo is open for a reconciliation talk with Peace Secretary Carlito Galvez, who was frequently seen in the province campaigning for the inclusion of the six contested municipalities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Magnitude 5.9 quake jolts Siargao By ROEL CATOTO MindaNews
GENERAL Luna, Siargao Isl and--R esidents and tourists here scampered for safety and ran out from their homes and resorts as a magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck not far from here. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the quake of tectonic origin occurred at 7:55 p.m. with its epicenter 28 kms southeast of this municipality and a depth of 19 kms. PHIVOLCS said in its earthquake bulletin that it was not expecting damage but aftershocks were expected. As of 9 p.m., 12 of such aftershocks already occurred, ranging from magnitude 1.9 to 4.7.
