Rise of middle class cities in M’danao seen
THE National Anti-Poverty Commission has predicted a steady increase of middle class-dominated cities in Mindanao as more and more local government units have embraced the need for convergent efforts in addressing poverty. The Duterte administration sought to reduce poverty incidence in the island to 14% by 2022. But NAPC’s Secretary Noel K. Felongco on Monday said this maybe fasttracked with the forging of memorandum of agreements between the agency and LGUs for the implementation of the agency’s Sambayanihang Serbisyong Sambayanan (SSS) program. Prompt response by DPWH averts major accident ILIGAN CITY, Dec 9 – The immediate action of maintenance personnel from DPWH-Lanao del Norte 2nd District Engineering Office to release the built up pressure from a busted main water line averted a major accident from happening along a busy stretch of Tibanga national highway, this city. Around 4:00pm, people started to notice water leaking through the asphalt overlay of the national highway prompting them to call local authorities. Upon learning of the water leak, Assistant District Engineer (ADE) Maria David dispatched maintenance teams to the area to inspect and assess the situation. “When we got to the area, we were shocked to see that there was a huge bulge in the highway.
