OZAMIZ City remained under control, assured Ozamiz City Police Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido as he allayed fears that the Parojinogs and their supporters are out to retaliate as a result of the recent bloody Sunday dawn raids that killed 15, including Mayor Reynaldo “Aldong” Parojinog and his wife, Susan. THE Supreme Court on Sunday condemned the killing of a judge in Butuan City. Judge Godofredo Abul Jr., 68, of the Butuan City RTC Branch 4 was fatally hit on his head while his wife Bernadeth, 65, was wounded in the attack. “The Chief Justice and Associate Justices express their outrage and sadness at the killing of the Honorable Presiding Judge Godofredo Abul Jr. of the Regional Trial Court of Butuan City, Branch 4 and the injuries inflicted on his wife yesterday (Saturday), August 5, 2017,” the SC said in a statement. The high court called on law enforcement agencies to expedite investigation and arrest of the culprits to bring justice to the family of the judge, whose wife was also seriously injured during the attack.

CAGAYAN de Oro City-The two workers who were killed in a fire in Capitol University Monday morning died of third degree burns, the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) said reported. Dr. Christian Caballes, of the police regional SOCO here, said that Brian Solarte of Cugman and Dave Marvin Ramoga, 27, of Lapasan, all of Cagayan de Oro City, died of third degree burns. Solarte, sources said, was only a high school student and was working part-time when he has no classes at a public secondary school here. He was Ramoga’s assistant. Solarte’s age was not yet determined. He said that the victims might have passed out after they were suffocated by the thick smoke before they were burned by the See fire, page 11
