CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – With the Presidential Elections in May 2022 fast approaching, the groups that supported President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has now consolidated their forces all over the country and formed a grand alliance called “Sara All Philippines 2022.”
According to National Lead Convenor, Usec Benito Ranque, the consolidation will solidify their efforts and resources to fully convince Mayor Sara Duterte to run for president and to continue the projects and current programs that would be left unfinished by her father after he steps down from Malacanang Palace on June 30, 2022.
Rangue said the grand the alliance was made up of various volunteer organizations, associations, alliances and coalitions, and they fully supported the presidential bid of the president. DA-PRDP 10 hands in enterprise facilities to MCOCO TUBOD, Lanao del Norte -- Another cooperative is on the track of progress as the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project 10 (DA-PRDP 10) officially turned over the Integrated Coconut-based Enterprise to the Malingao Community Services Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MCOCO) of Tubod, Lanao del Norte on July 21, 2021. With DA-PRDP’s intervention, MCOCO received a total of P25,024,108.70 worth of assistance which includes warehouse, weaving center, hauling trucks, and machines for weaving, baling, and decorticating, among others. In his message, Tubod Mayor Leoncio C. Bagol recalled the hardships they went through just to get the subproject’s approval. “I cannot help but look back at the days where we
have to endure countless sleepless nights just to prepare the business plan. A lot of challenges occurred along the way and it was a tough battle to win. But I always believe that no matter how hard the trials are, as long as we are united and we are helping each other, success is within our reach,” he said. “Now that the enterprise is already turned over, the fate of its success lies in our hands. Let’s aim for the cooperative to prosper and let’s show to those who helped us achieve this project that we deserve it. More importantly, let us aim for the progress of our enterprise so we can provide more livelihood to our fellowmen. Salay, Misamis Oriental enhances disaster risk reduction through science and technology
THE Local Government Unit of Salay in Misamis Oriental received fund assist ance wor t h PHP 828,572.00 from the Department of Science and Technolog y Region 10 (DOST-10) for the newly approved project on disaster risk reduction and management on July 15, 2021. The project is entitled “Utilization of an Efficient Flood Warning Technology with Pressure-Type Water Level Sensor in Brgy. Ili-Ilihon, Salay, Misamis Oriental – D1”. It aims to promote to reduce the impact of floods, particularly in flood-prone areas such as in Brgy. IliIlihon and Brgy. Matampa through the utilization of efficient monitoring technology and skills training. Brgy. Ili-Ilihon belongs to the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood, and Employment Cluster (PRLEC). Thus, the project will help counter the insurgency in the area in support to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC). “I would like to take this opportunity to express, on behalf of the LGU Salay, our heartfelt gratitude to the

Pregnant NPA leader surrenders in NoCot
DAVAO CITY – A highranking female leader of the communist terrorist New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the military in Pikit, North Cotabato over the weekend, the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom) said. Maj. Alex Mindalano, Eastmincon spokesperson, identified the NPA leader as Ariane Jane Ochate Ramos alias Marikit, the secretary of Guerrilla Front 55, Sub-Regional Committee 5, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee, responsible for various atrocities in Paquibato District in this city. “Marikit has long been under the radar of the military for her involvement in several extortion activities and armed clashes with the troops in the past. She was also affiliated to the League of Filipino Students and Gabriela Youth,” Mindalano said.
Marikit, who is pregnant, was the party wife of Rommel Tausan alias Rommel, a former commanding officer who died in an armed encounter with the 27th Infantry Battalion. “At present, she is in a relationship with Daniel Bandalan alias Regoy, the current commanding officer of GF55, SRC5, SMRC and the father of the child she is expecting,” Mindalano said. Eastmincom chief Lt. Gen. Greg Almerol assured Marikit’s safety and welfare especially that she is expecting a child. Not Anymore! Now the Land of the Brave and the Free
IN the ‘90s, I had the privilege of representing the Philippines as an environmental advocate who was leading direct actions against illegal logging and illegal mining through direct actions through human barricades. In one international fora in Ottawa, Canada, I had the honor of being invited in the annual environmental convergence called the Canadian Environmental Network Summit as guest speaker. It was in that annual summit where a Canadian Environmentalist had described the Philippines as a nation oozing with ecological wealth, the richest on earth. Based on his research, in the 5,000-ha. Mt. Makiling or Mr. Kitanglad, “the number of flora and fauna found in that 5,000 hectares is far greater in number compared to those found in one billion-hectare continent of North America.” But the wealth does not end in the shorelines as according to the President of the UN-Food and Agricultural Organization, “the Philippines Archipelago is “the center of the center of marine life on earth.”
Wow, that was how rich our country is with regards to ecological resources. BUT NOT ANYMORE! We already have lost almost everything. The 17 million hectares of dipterocarp forest are nowhere to be found as the Philippines had been supplying the timber needs of the whole world in the last century. Of the 13 major bays, 10 are already “biologically dead” and the coastal communities are now the poorest of the poor. Of the 25 major rivers, 15 are already dried-up or polluted. The Philippine Archipelago had been treated at “dumping ground” of toxic garbage from other countries and the West Philippine Sea is now under the control of foreign power, contrary to the International Arbitral Ruing. Why? As alleged in that International Summit, “the Philippines is a nation of coward people.” I told them, NO! The Philippines is the land of the brave and free! But WHO CONTROLS? WHO DECIDES? WHO BENEFITS? The categorical answer is: THE ELITE!

THE world is changing. And it’s changing fast. The current pandemic has changed our world in a manner and speed that we have not seen and experienced before. The world we know 12 months ago is no longer the world we now have. In order to survive and thrive in what is now called the new normal, we are forced to adjust, adapt, and adopt. Otherwise, we make ourselves irrelevant and non-existent. This cannot be more true in the case of today’s leaders. Leadership per se is already challenging and demanding. But the pandemic and the disruptions it has brought along made a leader’s job a much tougher act. We have a roster of acclaimed authorities whose expert opinions and rich perspectives opened our minds”, says Pauline Uchi, GAMA Convention chair. This year’s GAMA convention with around 17,000 attendees, was offered for free for both members and non-members leaders from the Philippines and from at least 9 international GAMA chapters. As Pres. Following this year’s theme, the convention topics were divided into M and E: M for Malleable sessions featured topics which were all aimed at helping the attendees learn more about mental conditioning and mental toughness and how these can help them and their team members find their ways through the complex and ambiguous environment we now have. As mental health impacts our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors towards the changes happening around us, it is crucial that enough attention should be given to this important topic. One message resonated from all the speakers: Only by having the proper frame of mind can we view and respond to all the changes and challenges of the new world, in a more responsible, mature, and logical manner. A leader who has the right mindset Is in a better position to bring his people to greater heights. On the other hand, the E for Excellent sessions talked about the different leadership fundamentals, principles, and disciplines that leaders must possess and exhibit and how these have evolved and changed considering the givens of the new normal. The speakers also stressed that while leaders continue to make and adapt to changes, their eyes should remain focused on maintaining and delivering the highest form of excellence. With or without pandemic, leaders must be in constant pursuit of excellence. Pandemic is no excuse to take shortcuts and compromise one’s standards. The speakers reminded the Leaders to always challenge and ask themselves: Are we already doing the best? Or is there still a better way to do things? When there’s excellence, success cannot be far behind. All the 21 speakers delivered more than what’s expected from them. Their powerful presentation and sharing gave the attendees so many takeaways to digest and act on. As Convention Chair Pauline said, “all the sacrifices we made to bring this convention together was all worth it.” Great job GAMA Phils for doing this convention and for reminding our leaders that in order to be relevant, thrive, and succeed in this new world, we need to be malleable while we pursue excellence. Based on the profiled list of beneficiaries, Cagayan de Oro City has 191,956 family beneficiaries while Gingoog City has 53,000 families. A total of 49,344 family food packs from the Field Offices of DSWD has been delivered to Field Office 10 for relief augmentation in Cagayan de Oro City and Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental. Recently, Gingoog City received 10,000 food packs from the National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau (NRLMB) of DSWD Central Office. Meanwhile, Cagayan de Oro City also received 10,000 food packs from DSWD Field Office 10. In their regular Monday afternoon session, the 19th City Council approved an ordinance authorizing Mayor Moreno to sign the agreement with DSWD. The cash aid program is intended for families affected by the enhanced community quarantine status over the city. “We have a 15-day time frame to distribute the cash assistance to the beneficiaries. Last time the city received 130,000 slots for the SAP (social amelioration program) cash aid and it took us almost a month to finish the cash distribution. We had people line up in gyms for the cash aid program so this is a big challenge for us,” Sabuga-a said. He added that the City Hall will coordinate with the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office and even the military to ensure security
and monitoring of compliance to public health protocols during the cash distribution activity. In the meantime, Sabuga-a said about 9,950 family food packs were distributed to employees who lost their jobs at the onset of the city’s ECQ.
