CAGAYAN de Oro City-The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has vowed to go after those involved in the illegal manufacturing of tobacco products and other consumer goods as cigarette-making machines and various counterfeit cigarettes estimated to be worth more than a billion pesos were destroyed Thursday.

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur--The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is readying charges against the suspects involved in the illegal cutting of some PHP1.3 million worth of Mahogany trees in Barangay Langapod, Labangan town. Iligan placed under state of calamity due to dengue By DIVINA SUSON PNA
ILIGAN City--The local government here declared on Tuesday a state of calamity following the alarming increase of dengue cases in the city. Local dengue cases have so far reached 1,138 with 14 deaths from January 1 to August 17 this year, according to the Iligan City Health Office. City Health Officer
Cherlina Cañaveral said the declaration authorized the local government to use the more than PHP8 million as a quick response fund against dengue. Cañaveral said the money will be used to purchase protective gear, fogging machines, medicines, olyset nets, and chemicals necessary to combat the mosquito-borne disease. Part of the funds will also be used for information and
education campaign against dengue, she added. Dr. Adrian Subaan, Department of Health-Region 10 officer-in-charge, said the agency declared an outbreak here after it recorded 14 deaths this year--the highest in Northern Mindanao.
