Catholic priests get COVID-19, churches in MisOr shutdown By CRIS DIAZ, xecutive Editor

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Roman Catholic churches in Misamis Oriental were padlocked starting Wednesday until May 10, Msgr. Rey Monsanto said here. Monsanto, an official of the Roman Catholic Archdioceses here, said that the churches would undergo disinfection after the assigned priest were found COVID-19 positive. He said the priests were now confined in various hospitals along with some convent staff and employees who were also found COVID +19 positive.

The following Roman Catholic churches were located in the municipal towns of Laguindimgan, Alubijid, Tagoloan and Jasaan, all in Misamis Oriental. In Cagayan de Oro City, the churches in the villages (barangays) of Carmen and Gusa and the Nazareno Church in the city’s downtown district were also temporarily closed. Monsanto said that the churches would reopen on May 10 after undergoing massive disinfections and when the affected personnel, including the

The Jesus Nazareno Parish, where the replica of the Black Nazarene statue is housed, is one of the six Catholic churches in Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental province ordered temporarily closed for 10 days beginning April 28, 2021. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: A big-time drug syndicate, believed protected by an unidentified top official, is busted with the seizure of illegal drugs worth P 3.4

million during a drug buy bust operations that led to the arrest of the “courier” here Tuesday afternoon. The operations were carried out by police operatives from Region 9 in Zamboanga Peninsula in

coordination with the local police and the Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) here. Police identified the suspects as only “Ian” and “Ana,” the alleged courier, for fear that the members
