Legislator urges NBI, CHR to probe, charge ‘red tagging’ perpetrators By CRIS DIAZ Executive Editor
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Deputy House Speaker Rufus Rodriguez on Saturday urged the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate and file charges against “red tagging” perpetrators in the country. “Red tagging” is condemnable and a serious violation of a person’s right that has to be stopped,” Rodriguez, a legislator from Cagayan De Oro, said in reaction to the closure of the Kauswagan Community Pantry because of the alleged “red tagging” of its organizer. DOH-10 steps up measures amid rising COVID-19 cases CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The Department of Health (DOH)-10 is going to step up measures in response to the rise of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the region. Since the first confirmed case in Mindanao in March 2020, Northern Mindanao has already logged a total of 13,318 COVID cases. Dr. Jose R. Llacuna Jr.,
DOH-10 regional director, during the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID 19 (RIATF), said from January to April 22, the health department has listed more than 5,000 cases. Despite the number, Dr. Llacuna said, “We are very fortunate that almost 90 percent or 11,946 of the 13,318
have already recovered.” DOH-10 data revealed that the remaining 7.01 percent as of April 22 or 934 were active cases, 75 of which were admitted in hospitals while 859 were housed in quarantine facilities. The region also had 438 deaths giving Northern Mindanao a case fatality See MEASURES, page 11
