NGCP donates P5-Million in GCs to Project Ugnayan’s COVID-19 efforts O
VER and beyond its earlier donations, including the P1-Billion assistance to the national government’s COVID-19 response and relief efforts, NGCP is contributing another P-million as it turns over 10,000 supermarket gift certificates to Project Ugnayan, the collaborative initiative between the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) and top business groups, companies, and institutions. "NGCP made a pledge to continue finding opportunities beyond our previous aids to help combat the effects of COVID-19 in our country, and we are staying true to that promise. This contribution to Project Ugnayan will hopefully sustain more families severely affected during this period,” the company said in a press statement. Project Ugnayan aims to support families affected
by the outbreak of COVID-19 and the imposition of the extended Enhanced Community Quarantine by providing supermarket gift certificates to over 1,500,000 economically displaced families in Metro Manila. The project has also tapped Caritas Manila’s Project Damayan, which will conduct the door to door distribution of the gift certificates, to comply
with the social distancing guidelines imposed by the Department of Health (DOH). The project, which began last March, is set to end by April 30. NGCP’s earlier donations include the P1-Billion donation of medical equipment (ventilators, video laryngoscopes, full face shields) and grocery packs to identified hospitals and cities and municipalities across the country; personal protective equipment (PPE), meals, and other equipment for medical frontliners, and the Meals on Wheels program for indigent communities. NGCP is a Filipino-led, privately owned company in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the country’s power grid, led by majority shareholders Henry Sy, Jr. and Robert Coyiuto, Jr.

The “Kamusta ka?” hotline is available 24/7 and is manned by DOH’s mental health experts. “This psychosocial support is humane, supportive, and practical help that we can provide to our fellow Filipinos, especially when they have undergone traumatic events or crises, especially now with COVID-19 affecting everyone” Labitad said.
