Ateneo student reported missing in Zamboanga By AL JACINTO of Mindanao Daily News
ZAMBOANGA City––A 3rd year student of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University has been reported missing and appeals for her safety have flooded social media, including Facebook. Reniel Belmonte, 19, was last seen in Ateneo de Zamboanga. She failed to return home and efforts to contact her were
futile. Her classmates and friends have put up various appeals on Facebook hoping to get some clues on where the teenager had gone. “We are looking for Ms. Reniel Jose R. Belmonte, AB International Studies II, 19 years old. She is still missing and can’t be reached. She was last seen at around 2 p.m. yesterday when she was brought by her Dad to Ateneo de Zamboanga University
- Eusebio Salvador SJ campus.” “If you saw her yesterday afternoon or if you have any information that can shed light on her disappearance, please go to the DSA office and see Mr. Stevan S. Dimaguila. Let us hope and pray she is alright,” one appeal reads. Belmonte’s friends also shared her photos on Facebook in an effort to locate her whereabouts. It was unknown whether her
family has filed a missing person report with the police or not. In October 2008, a nursing student of Ateneo de Zamboanga, Joed Anthony Pilangga, who was reported missing by his family had turned out to have been kidnapped in Zamboanga City and brought to Basilan province. He was eventually freed two months later in exchange for an unspecified ransom. (Mindanao An undated Facebook photo of missing Ateneo student Reniel Belmonte. Examiner)
