quipped with a firm resolve to repackage its agriculture and tourism industries, the Province of Misamis Oriental launched Wednesday, January 8, the 1st Kuyamis Festival, highlighting the start of the year with a three-day festivity. The event coincides with the province’s 84th MisOr Week celebrated every first week of the year. With the theme, “Agro-Turismo sa MisOr Ipalambo,”the provincial government is expected to celebrate the Kuyamis Festival annually with the aid of a legislation the provincial board supposedly enacted through a special session. Set from January 8 to 10, at the Provincial Capitol grounds, the festival brings to fore various activities, including coconut products’ booth display, photo exhibit, sportsfest and business bazaar. Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano said the primary purpose of the festival is to promote the coconut industry of the province, thereby strengthening its product development in support of the agri-tourism thrust geared towards making Misamis Oriental the coconut capital of the Philippines.
