CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The Department of Social Welfare and Development is reminding the public, especially the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) that no political candidate or incumbent politicians can enroll and include poor families to or delist them from the Program. According to Nestor B. Ramos, Regional Director of the DSWD Field Office X, said that only the agency can include poor families to the Program, and can delist beneficiaries from it. “The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program is a poverty reduction initiative of the national government. It is being implemented with other national government agencies and with nongovernment organizations and civil society groups which are helping us monitor the implementation of the program. Our political candidates have no hold in the inclusion and exclusion processes of 4Ps,” Ramos explains. He further stated that the DSWD no longer enroll families to the program since it has already conducted its second round President Rodrigo Roa Duterte at the 116th Labor Day Celebration - President Rodrigo Roa Duterte shows a gesture household assessment last of respect as he takes center stage during the 116th Labor Day Celebration at the IEC Convention Center in Cebu See candidates, page 11

increase of honoraria and allowances and withholding tax exemption on the compensation of teachers who will serve in the upcoming May 14 Barangay (village) and Sanggunian Kabataan (SK) polls.

“DepEd teachers and personnel have long been at the forefront of every electoral exercise in the country; with their immense experience in carrying out this enormous task in clustered precincts of huge populations, we

deem that evaluation and discussion on the possible increase in honoraria and allowance are just and necessary,” Briones said in a statement on Thursday. Briones said no poll honoraria were ever subjected

to income tax prior to the effectivity of Republic Act No. 10756, or the Election Service Reform Act (ESRA); thus it is fitting for DepEd teachers and personnel to “truly benefit from their See appeals, page 11
