CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The Department of Social Welfare and Development is reminding the public, especially the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) that no political candidate or incumbent politicians can enroll and include poor families to or delist them from the Program.

According to Nestor B. Ramos, Regional Director of the DSWD Field Office X, said that only the agency can include poor families to the Program, and can delist beneficiaries from it.

“The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program is a poverty reduction initiative of the national government.

It is being implemented with other national government agencies and with nongovernment organizations and civil society groups which are helping us monitor the implementation of the program. Our political candidates have no hold in the inclusion and exclusion processes of 4Ps,” Ramos explains.

DAVAO C I T Y – T h e Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) on Thursday, May 3, launched a media hub which aims to strengthen its communication services in Mindanao.

The launching of the Mindanao Media Hub was led by PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar along with Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go, who delivered a message during the event.

“It is timely that we have finally decided to build a new hub here in Davao, particularly in Mindanao,” Go said in his message during the hard hat ceremony.

“This will be the first time in our country that radio, TV, print, wire service, intra-personal communication, online, and new media be under one group,” he added.

Go stressed that the expansion and improvement of state-run media agencies by the PCOO is a testament to President Rodrigo Duterte’s commitment to serve the Filipino people better especially the Mindanaoans.

“We will now have a full and rightful information and coverage we deserve,” he said.

LANAO DEL NORTE, -Local government units in the different municipalities of Lanao del Norte have responded to President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s dream of a gunless and peaceful Mindanao.

A total of 535 assorted high and low powered loose firearms (FAs) were turned-in and received at the headquarter of the 2ndmechanized Brigade. All these coming from the 18 municipalities in Lanao del Norte and the presence of the local chief executives (LCEs) showed a simple manifestation of their support to various endeavors of the 2nd Mech Brigade.

JRBGH records P55.9M 1Q income CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH) reports their substantial hospital income increase and collections recorded in the first quarter of 2018.

Dr. Ramon Nery, office in charge of JRBGH, said that almost P55.9 million was recorded from the income and collections in January to March 31 this

year, compared to the P25.5 million of the same months last year.

Mega Job Fair in Cagayan de Oro generates on the spot employment

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- The mega job fair in Cagayan de Oro City on May 1-2, 2018 aimed to generate on the spot employment and contribute to the country’s goal of not less than seven million until 2022.

This was reiterated by Labor Assistant Secretary Maria Gloria Tango during the opening program of the job fair. She said that in the Philippines, 16 regions are celebrating Labor Day with a total of 37 sites conducting job fair.

“The commitment of the job fair is to generate employment of not less than seven million until 2022,” she added.

Total of 14,975 jobs had been offered to job seekers in the two-day Labor Day job through Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

With the aim of giving jobs to unemployed, the job fair was held at the Limketkai Atrium.

Together with this was the holding of the free enrolment of technical vocation skills training by TESDA and Diskwento Caravan and Livelihood and Business Fair by DTI. Out of the 14,975 vacant

jobs offered, 7,602 were local jobs, 5,139 overseas employment and 2,234 government vacancies. Among the local works offered, carpentry topped the most in-demand job with 1000 vacancies.

At 8:00 a.m., DOLE has already started to accept applicants pre-registered on April 21-27 while walk-in applicants were accepted at 9:00 a.m.

A total of 3,936 job applicants came to fish for work as of 11:00 a.m. 3,396 looked for local vacancies as 540 searched for an overseas work. As of 4:00 p.m., the

job seekers accelerated to 4,668.

In an interview, job hunter Christian Mark Catallus, 23, a resident of Iligan City and a graduate of Industrial technology, shared that he is looking for a company that can improve his skills, challenge his professionalism and has nice benefits as he can offer his skills learned at school.

Immunization vs measles, rubella starts May 9 in GenSan GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- The city government is all set for the month-long supplemental immunization campaign for measles and rubella that will formally start on Wednesday, May 9.

Dr. Rochelle Oco, head of the City Health Office (CHO), said Friday their vaccination teams have finalized their preparations for the massive immunization drive in all of the city’s 26 barangays.

She said their vaccinators have conducted assessments and initial visits to prospective households ahead of the scheduled immunization activity, which will run until June 8.

“We will conduct houseto-house visits if necessary to ensure that all eligible children will be covered,” she said.

Oco said the city was chosen by the Department of Health (DOH) as site for the launching in Mindanao

of the nationwide immunization drive.

She said DOH Secretary Francisco Duque and other officials have confirmed to attend the activity, which will kick off with a motorcade to help drum up support and participation from local residents.

The official urged parents and caregivers to allow their children to undergo vaccination for measles and rubella, which is also known as German measles, to provide them with immunity against infections.

She said the viral diseases could trigger complications like pneumonia and encephalitis that could lead to deaths.

Educators are well aware that integrating children’s or young adult literature across the curriculum can support content learning and facilitate discussion about social and ethical issues, human behaviors and controversial topics. Both multicultural literature and global literature can foster empathy and tolerance while addressing issues of oppression and prejudice;

most multicultural literature exemplifies diverse cultural groups. Global literature generally refers to books that are international either in topic, or origin of publication, or author. These books are often translated from the original language.

Global literature has the potential to support students’ international understandings and their ability to make sense of

the world. In the United States only about 5 percent of children’s literature is published internationally, compared with many other countries where 20 to 35 percent of children’s book originate outside their borders ( Yokota & Teale, 2016). Hence, it is vital that teachers not only in US should integrate global literature into core subjects, literature circles, read-aloud, classroom and school libraries.

Since January, CHO’s epidemiology and surveillance unit already recorded a total of 44 suspected measles cases, placing the city in the alert threshold based on its five-year data.

Raffy Piamonte, surveillance nurse, said three of these cases were confirmed as measles, which is considered endemic in the area.

Oco assured that the vaccines provided by the DOH are proven and tested as safe and long been used in the country without any problem.

She issued the assurance in the wake of the controversy on the anti-dengue vaccine Dengvaxia, which

was blamed for a number of supposed deaths in Luzon and Metro Manila following vaccination.

“The possible complications from measles infection are more dangerous rather than the expected side effects that may be caused by the vaccine,” she said.

Oco added that parents and caregivers who have doubts may ask health workers regarding their concerns and proper guidance. (MindaNews)

Is Child Labor could be an Excuse to Absenteeism in School?

We have the so-called acceptable and unacceptable reason for student absences, but speaking of child labor it did not belonged. So, if parents would say that my son/ daughter is absent from the class because of work is not a valid excuse.

Parents/guardians, let’s not lost sight of the fact, that attendance is an important factor in school success among children and youth. Studies show that better attendance is related to higher academic achievement for students of all backgrounds, but particularly for children

with lower socio-economic status. Beginning in kindergarten, students who attend school regularly score higher on tests than their peers who are frequently absent.

Chronic truancy (frequent unexcused absence) is a strong predictor of undesirable outcomes in adolescence, including academic failure, dropping out of school, substance abuse, gang involvement, and criminal activity. However, chronic absence (regardless of reason) is increasingly identified as an important “early warning sign” that a student is at risk for school failure and early dropout.

Chronic absenteeism is usually defined as missing ten precents or more of school days. Unfortunately, few school districts currently have the capacity to analyse or shall I say maybe fails or wasn’t able to analyse attendance data to identify those students who are chronically absent.

Many factors can contribute to student absenteeism. Family health or financial concerns, poor school climate, drug and alcohol use, transportation problems, and differing community attitudes towards education are among the conditions that are often associated with a child’s frequent absence from school.

The answer is no, if one is

a reader and a believer of the Christian Bible.

The fact is that, domination of any country’s economy (not just the Philippine economy) by foreigners--and not just by ethnic Chinese---is actually written in the Bible, particularly in its Deuteronomy 28:15, 43-44. What do these verses say?

Deuteronomy 28:15 lays out the general prediction.

It says: “However, if you no longer listen to God or you no longer obey His commands, all of these curses will come upon you and overtake you…”

The question right now is this: can ethnic Filipinos ever regain the Philippine economy for themselves so that, like the foreigners who live or reside among them, they, too, can become billionaires, in US dollars yet? The answer is yes, they can, but they must realize

that the first real step to economic wealth is sincere and true spiritual rebirth and transformation.

The fact is that, many native Filipinos have tried almost everything to become wealthy, and they have been trying to do so over a long period of time now, to no avail (to use a cliché). I am convinced that, at this point, those without any foreigner’s blood running in their veins can try some Biblical prescriptions on how to become successful and prosperous, and see what will happen next.

Saving our OFWs THE diplomatic ties between Kuwait and the Philippines is in a litmus test, so to speak. This, after a helpless and hopeless domestic helper was rescued by elements of the Embassy without coordinating with the local authorities, video recorded the operation and then broadcasted the episode for reasons which can only be descrbed as sublime idiocy.

Since nobody wants to own responsibility, Pres.

Rodrigo Duterte took the cudgels but deeply disturbed by yet another OFW’s life was in peril he begged the Overseas Filipino Workers in Kuwait to come home.

The critics of Duterte, long hankering for issues to diminish the trust and popularity of the President, suddenly emerged from the catacombs, feast on the issue like hungry hyenas. That should make them salivate

and happy for now.

We knew for a fact that Kuwait employs about 250,000 OFWs. Contrary to general perception that they are mostly domestic helpers, a large number of them are in Iraqi’s vital oil and construction industries, help man health and other technical services. I would like to believe that employing Filipinos is not only on account of the OFWs industry and capability but at one time in the most critical balance in the history of Kuwait, the Philippines sent an armed contingent to help them fight against the invading forces of Iraq and help in the restoration of peace and stability in the Gulf states, Kuwait included.

That, for me, was the tie that binds the two distant countries. There were impulsive acts, knee-jerk reactions but when passions settle down, sober talks and

rational decisions have to be made. The reciprocal sacrifices and favors are etched in the history of both countries.

If President Duterte appeals to OFWs to consider coming home, I want to believe that it is on account of an impending shortage of skilled labor and engineers given the mega-infrastructure projects which will be implemented soon under the Build Build Build program of the Duterte administration. Do you know what the largest gravestones in the world are? They are the pyramids of Egypt, built over 4,000 years ago. The gravestone and pyramid of one King is almost 500 feet tall and has over 2 million huge stones. Each stone

weighs 4,000 pounds or more. The kings of Egypt spent most of their life using thousands of men to build their gravestones! They were so afraid and desperate to do everything they could to prepare and make sure they lived a safe and happy life after death. They had most of their money and treasures buried with them.

They even had their wives and servants killed and buried with them so they wouldn’t be alone in their life after death.

But we can work all our life like those Egyptian kings to get as much money as possible, or positions of power and respect, educa-

tion, even becoming religious and good; yet in the end, all these things just crumble like gravestones and pyramids. The moment we die, all of our works and achievements are totally useless to us. Just like our gravestone cannot help us in our life after death.

How Important the Brigada Eskwela in all Schools?

Article II Secion 17, 1987 Constitution states that “The State shall give priority to education, science and technology, arts, culture, and sports to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerate social progress, and promote total human liberation and development.” This statement was flourished in every mind of every Filipinos around the globe. However, unlike the other agency, DepEd does not met the required requirements every year to sustain the needs of educations specially in the school buildings, repairs and maintenance and so on. It is sad to note but it is true in all. This was noted through the common issues thrown which is also notice and seems a lacking of priority in education in the country.

Yes, there were programs initiated to fill-in the needs of the schools throughout the country and that’s the rebirth of Brigada Eskwela, as a yearly advocacy of the Department.

Brigada Eskwela is an activity that requires everyone to join in the noble cause of preparing the school for its opening along with the school-children and staff,

together with the community and other stakeholders. It is a Bayanihan for School, which is one of the preserves Filipino cultural values.

The success of its implementation lies in the collaborative effort of school heads, private partners, local government units, and the community members, including parents and students.

The lack of resources in terms of financial and assistances aided by the government was attributed by the community members, private sectors, BGU, LGU and NGO’s for the realization of the program and to augment the needs of every school in the country that government could not deliver the aided programs as it wanted. Brigada Eskwela is the maneuvering activity in creating strong bond with the school, community and other stakeholders in order to create a better living of school-children while they stay for a year in school and for the future comes.

Throughout the years, the spirit of volunteerism in Brigada Eskwela has reached more people in the communities who wanted to serve voluntarily and wanted to become an exemplar of being an agent of change.

The vision, mission shared by all results greatness of a noble cause, and that is to aid the needs of the school in the current state, preparedness for the opening of the class, to cut-out the old scenario of school activity especially on the beginning of the school, to hold on with the excitement of the students to attend on the first day of school and to start right away the school with a pleasant class discussion.

Though, not all of us realize our role as partners of the government in creating positive change in society. More often than not, we are quick to point out the diseases of our country, yet we only wait for the government to act on them. We either fail to recognize the opportunities we have to contribute to the cure of these diseases, or we turn a blind eye on them because taking part involves change that may inconvenience us. Let us not sit idle and wait for the grace to come. We should act in order to fill in the needs. Government are not super heroes they could not give what we wanted in a second while waiting for the minutes to make things right, act right now while waiting for greatness of aid to come.

Every Child Deserves - A Quality Education

An estimated several thousands of children in Mindanao’s remote barangays attend schools without the benefit of having a good classroom facility. In emerging markets, communities and villages, children continue to experience oppression by not having the opportunity of receiving a quality basic education and support.

These conditions bear witness to the persistent imposition of oppression.

What message are we sending our children? That they are not worthy of a basic & simple infrastructure. That they cannot be allowed

the freedom to dream of a better way of learning, and a better way of life? Enough is enough! It is time for decisive leadership and immediate action.

James D. Wolfson, former President of the World Bank said that the only effective means of breaking the cycle of poverty is through education.

The quality of education offered today, instead of building confidence, literacy and dignity, often adds little value and holds children back. We must no longer accept a child’s educational experience being prejudiced by the lack

of a most basic piece of educational infrastructure – so critical to their literacy development and academic performance.

All children everywhere deserve a quality education which is one of their fundamental human rights. The ability to read and write; laying a foundation for a future without poverty, hunger or disease. Our future and the success of future generations depend on this.

If we each do our little bit of good where we are; those little bits of good put together overwhelm the world – as each of us is indeed made for goodness, and our children for greatness!

China, Japan develop aerotrain DOLE denies PLDT plea running 400-500 km/hour

BEIJING -- A high-speed aerotrain that could run 400 km. to 500 km. per hour is being developed by China and Japan in a joint effort, Chinese media Chongqing Morning Post reported.

The aerotrain does not run on traditional fuel resources, such as coal, gas or electricity, and is expected to change the world's transportation system, according to experts.

Trial manufacturing and test runs of the first and second generation aerotrain have been conducted in Japan, said Lai Chenguang, a professor of Chongqing University of Technology, who participates in the project.

The train will be fully powered by natural energy, reducing costs while improving speed, he noted.

“If the train runs at a speed of 500 km. per hour, the energy it consumes is only one-third of that consumed by current high-speed trains, and one-sixth of the maglev trains,” Lai said.

The resolution of the labor department for the regularization of 7,306 workers of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) is now final and executory.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III has denied PLDT’s motion for reconsideration on its resolution issued last January 10, 2018 directing the company and its contractors to grant their employees regular employment status and pay workers’ monetary benefits amounting to P 51.6 million.

In a resolution signed on April 24, Bello dismissed PLDT and its 35 contractors’ appeal for lack of merit while the four of its contractors’ appeal were granted.

DOLE reiterated its directive for contractors found to be labor-only contractors to cease and desist from further engaging in contracting activities including Activeone Health Inc, Aremay Enterprise, BBS-VPN Allied Services Corporation Philippines, Best Options Assistance, Inc., Comworks Inc.; Consolidated Management Resources; Curo Teknika, Inc., and Diar’s Assistance, Inc.

The Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS), conducted by school authorities, asked teachers and principals their view of problems in their schools.

When asked about a range of school problems including absenteeism, stu-

dent drug abuse, and physical conflicts among students, teachers and principals could respond that each problem was either a serious problem, moderate problem, minor problem, or not a problem in their schools.

One out of every four public school teachers cited lack of parent involvement as a serious problem in their schools. This problem was also described as “serious” by 4.3 percent of private school teachers. Among both public and private school teachers, this problem topped the list in the percentage of teachers

who rated it as a serious problem in their schools.

Secondary teachers were more likely than elementary teachers to report lack of parent involvement as a serious problem in their schools.

School principals agreed that lack of parent involvement was one of the most serious school problems.

Among public school principals, poverty was described as a “serious” problem as often as lack of parent involvement.

Private school principals cited poverty as a “serious” problem somewhat more often than they cited lack of parent involvement.

You’ve already figured this out: despite the enormous amount of planning and preparation teachers do, instruction is actually the easy part See if this sounds familiar: you spend hours of designing that perfect lesson. You bring in enrichment activities and released literature, and you’re able to make adjustments for kids who need to go back and fill in new pieces they missed along the way. Your directions are clear, your materials are organized (maybe even color-coded), and you have back up plans in case the lesson runs short. You are enthusiastic

and well prepared.

And yet: You’re having trouble getting your students to settle down, stop talking, or even get in their seats.

One student wants to go to the bathroom while another needs to sharpen a pencil.

There’s a student making noises, another poking the child in the next seat, and a few others distracted with unrelated task or staring off into space. And there’s that seemingly interested child who asks a question that somehow gets you off track. Heading in an entirely different direction from the one you had planned. Let’s not forget the students who can’t focus because they’re

hungry, didn’t have enough sleep, or are fuming over a nasty encounter they had on the way to your class.

There are few kids who love the topic but need something to do with their hands or their bodies to stay attentive, and some who just can’t sit still for one minute. Add in the students who gave up before they even walked into your class and the ones easily provoked to arguments, defiance, outbursts, or violence, and I suspect that you’re not only struggling to accomplish any of the instructional goals you’ve set, but also going home at the end of the day feeling frustrated, angry, and a bit defeated.

Police urge ‘netizens’ to report street crimes DAVAO CITY -- The Davao City Police has called on netizens to immediately report street crimes to the police instead of merely posting them on social media.

Davao City Police spokesperson, Senior Insp. Maria Teresita Gaspan, said Thursday that despite the city’s low crime volume, some persons claiming to be victims of street crimes post their experiences on Facebook but do not go to the police.

“Kanang mga nag-ingon nga na hold-up sila or na snatchan sila, kung mahimo magpa-blotter kay pare marecord og matagaan dayon nato og aksyon (Those who post on social media that

they were allegedly mugged must go to the police station and have the crime recorded so that we can act on it immediately),” Gaspan said.

The Davao Police recorded 7,576 crimes in 2017, 26.22 percent lower than the 10,269 crimes recorded in 2016.

Gaspan underscored the proper reporting of crime incidents so the police could adjust their deployment. She said they give priority attention to areas of convergence in the city.

New activated battalion faces directorial training ZAMBOANGA City -- The military official said that starting on Thursday the newly- activated army of the 97th Infantry Battalion (IB) of the Infantry Division (ID ) will underges organizational training.

Major Ronald Suscano, 1dt ID officer said last April 10 the new battalion was activated in accordance to the General Orders No. 211dated March 24. The 97th IB was among the 10 additional battalions of the Philippine Army has established.

ZAMBOANGA CITY -The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is set to acquire two speedboats to strengthen its anti-smuggling campaign in this southern port city.

Lawyer Lyceo Martinez, BOC district collector, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Thursday that the speedboats will be acquired through the BOC central office

3 Hong Kong nationals nabbed in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA City -- A top official stated on Thursday that 3 Hong Kong nationals were arrested in an island town in the province of Basilan.

The said men were arrested by the local police at Barangay Dasalan, Hadji Muhtamad, an island municipality formerly known as Pilas Islands on Wednesday at around 6 p.m. Inot said.

The arrested foreign men were identified as Tsz Kin Tsui 40, Wang Po, 33, and Chun Wai Ho, 32 said Basilan police director Senior Supt. Rufino Inot.

Moti said the smaller units are affordable for police officers with the rank of PO1 and PO2 and the soldier with a rank of Private with a monthly salary of PHP29,800 while the bigger unit is affordable for SPO1 of the PNP and Sergeant of the AFP receiving PHP35,000 monthly salary.

But Escalada said President Duterte has promised to subsidize a certain amount for each recipient.

Escalada said 45 percent of the total units will be allocated for the AFP, 45 percent for the PNP and the remaining 10 percent for those with the Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail and Management and Penology and Bureau of Corrections.

Already, the AFP and PNP are overbooked for applicants. As of Wednesday, there are already 2,100 applications filed with their respective housing boards.

Prohibitions against unfair collection practices have also been strengthened where collection agents must observe good faith, fair and reasonable conduct, and proper decorum when dealing with all consumers, including cardholders already in default.

Payments using cash, check or debit cards, made through any accredited payment center shall be posted on the same day by credit card issuers. Due dates falling on weekends or holidays shall be automatically moved to the next business day.

The IRR further protects cardholders’ right to data privacy and redress. Customer information can only be shared to third parties upon a cardholder’s informed consent, and under specific conditions defined by the law. All issuers must also have consumer assistance units to expeditiously address cardholders’ concerns, such as billing errors, unauthorized transactions and other credit card related issues, within 90 days from receipt of the concerns.

It is important that credit card issuers ensure appropriate customer identification and sound credit underwriting to promote the soundness and integrity of the industry as well as promote responsible use of credit and prevent overindebtedness. Cardholders on the other hand have the serious responsibility to manage their credit, protect and safeguard the integrity of their transactions, and immediately report lost cards or observed billing discrepancies.

The IRR contemplates a phased implementation of some provisions to account for the necessary adjustments in the systems and processes of existing credit card issuers.

At present, there are more than eight (8) million credit cards issued in the country.

There is further potential for expansion in light of the current economic growth, the country’s demographics and the increasingly digital payment system. The recently approved rules aim to ensure that such growth in the credit card industry will be safe and sound, and one that protects consumers.

IN VILLANUEVA TOWN

More village volunteers trained as disaster ‘warriors’ EIGHTY volunteers from 11 barangays in Villanueva town, Misamis Oriental were recently trained to be disaster “warriors” in their respective community.

Participants were taught on the basic knowledge and skills on how to be alert and responsive to any disaster that may strike their community at any given time.

The training, conducted by experts from the Philippine National Red Cross-Misamis Oriental (PNRC-MisOr), held on March 7-9 and March 1416, 2018, was thru the auspices of FDC Misamis Power Corporation (FDC Misamis).

Last year, the Gotianunled power firm likewise sponsored the same training, where 80 villagersturned-volunteers also attended, including the town’s police officers.

Villanueva, known as the “Industrial Hub” in Northern Mindanao, is reportedly prone to both natural and man-made disaster(s) like earthquake, typhoon, flood, tsunami, landslide, fire, among others.

“Thus, it is our prime objective in sponsoring this training to equip the people of Villanueva the knowledge and skills needed to become disaster warriors,” said Engr. Luis Lagarnia Jr., FDC Misamis’ plant manager.

“Implement ing t his program will also make the residents in our host community aware of our commitment to harmonize our operations with environmentally sound practices and programs for the community,” he said.

The training, Villanueva Mayor Jennie Rosalie Uy their respective Baran- Under Republic Act said, benefited every ba- gay Disaster Action Team 10121 and with the onrangay in strengthening (BDAT). slaught of climate change all over the world, all local government units, including the barangays, are mandated to have their respective disaster risk reduction and management team.

A MUST Norman Ricacho, officer-in-charge of the town’s Disasters Risk Reduction and Management Office, said “it is a must for people in the community to be more self-sufficient and be able to respond quickly and correctly to any form of disaster.”

DISASTER WARRIORS. Villagers-turned-volunteers during the simulation activity of the Community-Based Disaster Preparedness and Response Training in Villanueva town, Misamis Oriental. The training was spearheaded by the LGU of Villanueva in partnership with FDC Misamis Power Corporation and Philippine National Red Cross-Misamis Oriental.

For volunteer-participant Cyril Cambalon, Jr., initiatives in responding to any incident especially during calamity aren’t enough.

He said being a human resource trainer and a member of the town’s DRRMO, he is used to volunteer in rescue operations during typhoons and even road mishaps.

Assisting children evacuees during a typhoon is the most touching role he ever played in his whole life, confessed the 38-yearold resident of Poblacion 2, Villanueva.

“Thanks to Red Cross and FDC Misamis for this training that imparted us knowledge and trained us on how to properly assist evacuees and manage evacuation centers, among others,” Cambalon said.

“What I’ve learned from this training is truly valuable to me, to my family, and my community.”

DISASTER-RESILIENT “Training more disaster warriors in Villanueva is a noteworthy endeavor leading to the fulfillment of our mission to make this town one of the disasterresilient communities in Mindanao,” Lagarnia said.

Ricacho said, “Properly trained disaster volunteers can surely make a difference between life and death.”

FDC Misamis will continue to work with the LGU of Villanuva in ensuring the sustainability of the latter’s disaster risk program and make it attuned with FDC Misamis’ Disaster and Crisis Measures, Procedures and Plans.
