Ulamas appeal to Pres. Duterte: Stop airstrike in Marawi City By GERRY LEE GORIT Correspondent
CEB opens 5 new routes for Vismin
THE Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), adds five new routes to its inter-regional network, connecting more islands from Mindanao to Visayas to the rest of the archipelago. The new routes stem from requests from stakeholders, particularly in Mindanao, to improve connectivity of key cities. Starting July 26, 2017, CEB wholly-owned subsidiary Cebgo will fly three times weekly (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) between Cebu and Masbate, Davao and Dumaguete, and Zamboanga and Cotabato. Cebgo will also begin flying four times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Saturday) between Cagayan de Oro

Gov’t forces in complete control of Marawi City-AFP By Cielito M. Reganit PNA
THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday stressed that government forces are in complete control of Marawi City amid reports coming mostly from social media that half of the city is under the control of the Maute Group. “We have complete control of the city, contrary to what is coming out in social media and other information, perhaps some fake news,” AFP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said during a Palace briefPresident Rodrigo Duterte is escorted by his security team as he is about to give a ing. pep talk to the soldiers at the 2nd Mechanized Battalion headquarters in Iligan City on “It is not true that half of Friday, May 26.
the city is controlled by the rebels. Totally untrue. The Armed Forces and the police are in complete control of the city except for certain areas of the city where they continue to hold. These are the subject of clearing operations that are continuously being conducted,” he said. However, the AFP official admitted that they do not have the exact number of militants still remaining in the area due to a “very fluid situation.” He said that initial information showed the presence of around 40 to 50 armed elements but the
ILIGAN City--The National Ulama Conference of the Philippines (NUCP), in a statement, has implored upon President Rodrigo Duterte to immediately stop the airstrike in Marawi City, and to go on with the land attack instead. This, as various groups have condemned the attack by a local terror group on Marawi with their own stattements. The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), in a statement, has called on its forces to extend all necessary assistance to the people of Marawi to ensure their safety and frustrate the aim of any group or groups to sow division in communities. “We, from the National Ulama Conference of the Philippines (NUCP), implore President Duterte to cease immediately the airstrike but to employ land attack with the help of local military and police so that innocent civilians will be protected and escorted to evacuation centers.” The NUCP also appealed to President Duterte to order line agencies, like the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH) to respond to the humanitarian needs of the internally displaced perosons (IDPs) or locally called “bakwit”. “This is the time, Mr. President, to show us what you’ve been saying that you have a Maranao blood, and that, that you are sincere to correct the historical injustices committed against the Moros. Figures release over the weekend, showed that in Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur, alone there are about 1,300 families staying in the town
