DAVAO City--Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, presumptive President-elect who shied away from public view after media interviews on election day, May 9, will make his first public appearance on Monday (May 16), spokesperson Peter Laviña, said.

In a press briefing Friday at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao, Laviña said the mayor will accept well-wishers and meet personalities who supported his candidacy for President at the Matina Enclaves, developed by Escandor Development Corporation (Esdevco).

Esdevco is owned by Duterte’s friend, businessman Glen Escandor.

Laviña said Duterte will welcome media interviews.

Former village chief files disqualification case vs Oca

CAGAYAN de Oro City––Mayor Oscar Moreno is facing disqualification with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in connection with his “election” as city Mayor during the midterm election here last May 9.

The COMELEC proclaimed Moreno winner of the mayoral contest here Thursday morning.

Moreno, however, has yet to take his oath of office.

William Guialani, a former village chief of Taglimao, said he would file the disqualification Monday on the ground that Moreno is already perpetually banned to hold public office.

Last year, the Ombudsman has convicted Moreno of dismissal from public service and perpetual disqualification to hold public office in connection with the Ajinomoto scandal, Guialani said.

He said that Moreno’s argument that he is innocent, pending

the resolution of the motion for reconsideration, he filed with the Ombudsman, was not a ground that he could continue to hold public office.

“Moreno’s motion for reconsideration does not over ruled the Ombudsman’s decision to perpetually disqualify him from holding public office,” Guialani said.

He said that the temporary restraining order and the writ of preliminary injunction issued by the Court of Appeals (CA)

in Cagayan De Oro City was intended to withhold the serving of the Ombudsman order – not to deny the decision of the antigraft court.

Moreno, however, brushed aside Guialani’s disqualification charges.

He said that Guailani is a “nuisance” candidate and that he (Guialani) does not deserve to be taken seriously.

To recall, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales has ordered

the dismissal of Moreno and the city’s acting Treasurer Glenn Banez last year in connection with the Ajinomoto deal that has taken place without the approval of the City Council.

The anti-graft court convicted Moreno and Banez of grave misconduct and abuse of authority for entering an agreement with the Ajinomoto Phil to scale down the Php 2.9 million tax assessment due the city government to only Php 300,000.

33 incidents occurred on E-Day in Northern Mindanao

CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan De Oro City - The Regional Joint Security Control Center (RJSCC) on has reported 33 varied incidents occurring in various areas in Northern Mindanao during the election period in the region.

The election period started in January 2016 when the campaign of the national candidates started.

The RJSCC made the report during the post-election conference held at the police regional command here Friday participated by the top brass in

the military, police, and election officials.

Col. Jessie Alvarez, commander of the army’s 403 brigade, said that of the 33 incidents, the RJSCC considered only eight incidents to be election related.

Alvarez cited the simultaneous roadblocks initiated by the communist New People’s Army (NPA) in Northern Mindanao, which resulted in the capture of five law enforcers in April as “election related.”

Alvarez, however, said that there was no report of armed encounter a week prior to the holding of the mid-

term election in May this year.

The regional police command said that the other election related incident was the shooting to death of the mayoral candidate in the town Bukidnon on the last day of the campaign period.

Pol. Chief Supt Jose Gentiles, the police regional director in Northern Mindanao, said that there was no report of “failure of election” in Northern Mindanao.

He said that in areas considered as “election hotspots”, particularly in Lanao Del Norte, the police backed by the military has deployed personnel

to serve as Board of Election Inspectors (BEI). Gentiles said that the police regional command here has sent 200 police personnel to augment the security contingency in Lanao Del Norte on the day of the election.

Wilfredo Balisado, the regional director of the Commissions on Election (COMELEC) in Northern Mindanao, lauded that military and the police for ensuring the peaceful conduct of the election in the region.

Balisado also commended the military and the police for exercising utmost neutrality during the election period in Northern Mindanao.

IN spite of the noise, the bickering, and the rumblings among supporters and candidates in the just concluded midterm election this year, it is time to buckle up to work again.

While one could not forget the insults, the calumny and the contemptuous insinuation of the political protagonists, a larger challenge ahead now faces the newly elected public officials.

The CYNOSURE wishes to congratulate the true winners of the political exercise. The CYNOSURE also congratulates the military and the police for attaining the peaceful conduct of the election.

However, it is said that the “true winners” are those who won the election without “buying votes” and intimidating the “deprived” who were easy victims of coercion and harassment.

the unscrupulous candidates who thrived on corruption and deceit.

Perhaps, this is the reason why “winning” candidates face various disqualification proceedings. It is one way of saying that the winning candidate could be a “fraud.”

It is unfortunate that the “undeserving” candidates won the political exercise at the expense of those who sincerely want to serve the common good. It is also sad that there are losers who want to undermine the result of the election to favor a bet in order to pursue a hidden agenda.

Anyway, the focus of the post-election issue now focuses on the MarcosRobredo race for the Vice Presidential post. With the expose that the Smart Matic personnel opened the main server under pretext of correcting a “script,” the Filipino voters now have reason to doubt the credibility of the vote cast for the Vice President.

The Aquino administration can ill-afford to scuttle “Plan B” when Robredo is the only hope they now have.

SurSur Comelec cites good peace and order for feat in May 9 polls

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- Atty. Raquel Limbaco, provincial election supervisor (PES) here, attributed to good peace and order situation of the province of Surigao del Sur the success of the just concluded May 9, 2016 elections.

The Comelec provincial chief told media that the conduct of the said polls was generally peaceful and orderly.

However, she admitted that the Election Day was not at all that glitch-free owing to technical problems that surfaced, citing that some 79 vote counting machines (VCMs) failed to work well, also adding that these were addressed anyway by contingency measures put in place.

Meanwhile, Atty. Limbaco had given due credit to both the PNP and AFP here for their show of gallantry and dedicated service to ensure that everything would be alright as far as peace and order was concerned.

It could be recalled that Come-

lec had always made it a point to maintain close coordination with P/SSupt. Romaldo Bayting, acting PNP provincial director, and Col. Isidro Purisima, commander, 402nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army (PA).

With the just concluded national and local elections, the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) here, was already able to proclaim all winners at the provincial level after a day or two.

The proclaimed winners were Prospero Pichay, Jr., 1st District and Johnny T. Pimentel, 2nd District at the congressional level.

Likewise, the provincial officials who emerged victors during the electoral contest were Vicente Pimentel, Jr. as Governor and

Manuel Alameda, Sr. as ViceGovernor.

With five each in both Districts I and II, the following board members were all the same duly proclaimed winners: Eleanor Momo, Glenn Plaza, Mariano Atacador, Teresita Donasco, and Henrich Pimentel for District I; Donell Polizon, Mary Grace Lim, Rening Nazareno, Pol Suan, and Raul Millan for District II. Surigao del Sur, which is comprised of two cities and 17 municipalities, has a reported total of 367,528 number of voters, 310,397 of which have had actually voted or voters’ turnout was posted at 84.45 percent. Among DOH-recommended precautions against extreme heat are drinking more fluids and avoiding strenuous physical activity.

For May and June 2016, PAGASA forecast belownormal rainfall in Luzon and the Visayas but expects Mindanao to experience near-normal rainfall then.

Rainfall will still be below-normal in Luzon this July but near-normal in the Visayas and Mindanao that month, PAGASA said.

Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao will likely experience near-normal rainfall in August, September and October this year, PAGASA continued.

PAGASA also expects 37 provinces comprising some 46 percent of the country to experience drought by May 2016’s end.

Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life: Are you available all

the times? Are you mad if someone asks your time? Do you believe that being a good listener is a gift from God? If ever you have nothing to give and share, just listen and that’s a big deal already to the person you meet.

Being available all the times can give you burdens but can ease the burdens of others. Be selfless instead of being selfish. Nothing is above compare to offer yourself to others. Let you ears become the ears of God on this earth. Be the

visible God on this earth by offering your life to others.

Jesus did not accompany with his disciples to rest in somewhere because of his mercy to the people who followed him. He wanted to become available in all the times and in fact; this is God’s nature who is available always now and forever. Are we available to anyone if they need our presence? Imitate Jesus by being available to the people always although he was tired physically.

He thought the welfare of

the people and not himself.

This is a selfless love which means; to suffer for the sake of the others. To die in order that others might live. To be a looser in order that others will win. This is very opposite to selfishness which means; self preservation of everything and accumulation of all things for the welfare of oneself. Are you familiar with these two attitudes?

Senior High School National Training of Trainers (NTOT) held at Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), Tagaytay City was participated by 18 regions teacher-participant throughout the country. The objectives of the training allowed the participants to be directed of the goals. To describe the SHS Technical Vocational Livelihood (TVL) Track in the K to 12 Structure, present the Philippines Qualifications Framework (PQF) and discuss the Different Levels of Skills Certification were the goals of the training.

The underlying reason why the Department of education pursued the K-12 curriculum points out different rationales. In the global arena, technical and vocational education is now recognized as the “master key

to sustainable development”.

CEB inks sale of four Airbus A319 aircraft The Philippines’ leading carrier, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), signed a forward sale agreement with a subsidiary of Allegiant Travel Company

Allegiant is the parent company of Las Vegas-

based low-cost airline, Allegiant Air. Delivery of the four aircraft to Allegiant is scheduled from 2017 to 2018.

“As we aim to expand

our operations both in the Philippines and abroad, we remain invested in upgrading our fleet with fuel efficient, versatile aircraft. Between 2016 and 2021, we are anticipating the delivery of 30 Airbus A321neos, for long-range capability, and 16 ATR 72-600 turboprop planes, for better inter-island connectivity,” says CEB President and CEO Lance Gokongwei.

CEB currently operates one of the youngest fleets in the world, with an average age of 4.82 years. Its 57-strong fleet is comprised of 7 Airbus A319, 36 Airbus A320, 6 Airbus A330, and 8 ATR 72-500 aircraft.

As part of its conservative fleet renewal program, CEB will be taking delivery of 30 brand-new Airbus A321neo aircraft, the largest model in the A320neo series. The A321neo incorporates new engines and wing-tip

devices called Sharklets, which could deliver fuel savings of 20 percent and additional payload or range capability. The aircraft has a flying radius of over 6 hours and can be configured to have up to 240 seats, allowing CEB to access new markets in the Indian subcontinent and Australia.

CEB also ordered 16 ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft, to meet increasing demand in the Philippines for inter-island services.

The ATR planes enjoy a high reputation not only for versatility but also for their ability to operate on short runways. These planes will enable CEB to expand its operations on several smaller airports in its home country, and to contribute to the development of regional transport, trade, and tourism.

Speaking on the agreement, Jude Bricker, Allegiant Travel Company Chief Operating Officer,

says: “By the end of 2016, Allegiant will be a majority Airbus carrier, as measured by available seat miles. This agreement to purchase additional aircraft from Cebu Pacific is an important step in our longterm transition to a single fleet type.”

Allegiant previously agreed to purchase six Airbus A319 aircraft from CEB, with three remaining deliveries scheduled to occur later this year. The younger A320 family aircraft will help Allegiant to increase operational efficiency in the coming years. The enhanced operating economics of the aircraft will also open up new growth opportunities for the company by making longer routes and off-peak flying profitable.

CEB offers flights to an extensive network of more than 90 routes on 64 destinations, spanning Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and USA.
