NNC-X launches 10 Kumainments; strengthens Promote Good Nutrition among communities

n efforts to pace up with the country’s changing hunger and nutrition situation, the National Nutrition Council region 10 has launched its new revised version of nutritional guidelines for Filipinos dubbed as the 10 Kumainments on November 14, Thursday at Dynasty Court hotel, this city. According to Marissa DM. Navales, regional nutrition program coordinator, 10 Kumainments is the commandments on how to live a healthy lifestyle. “The National Nutrition Council eyes to disseminate good words on health and nutrition to all Filipinos, transmitting it to families and communities,” Navales said.

“Itong 10 Kumainments is less technical at mas madaling maintindihan ng mga tao, lalo na ng mga nanay natin and this is to further promote pa ‘yung Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos,” Navales added. 10 Kumainments are 1.) Kumain ng iba’t-ibang pagkain; 2.) Sa unang 6 months ni baby, breastfeeding lamang; mula 6 months, bigyan din siya ng ibang angkop na pagkain; 3.) Kumain ng gulay at prutas araw-araw; 4.) Kumain ng isda, karne, at ibang pagkaing may protina; 5.) Uminom ng gatas; kumain ng pagkaing mayaman sa calcium; 6.) Tiyaking malinis at ligtas an gating pagkain at tubig; 7.) Gumamit ng iodized salt; 8.) Hinay-

hinay sa maaalat, mamantika at matatamis; 9.) Panatilihin ang tamang timbang; and 10.) Maging aktibo. Iwasan ang alak; huwag manigarilyo.
