FROM Sia’s Titanium to The Chainsmokers’ Selfie and even Wolfgang’s Halik ni Hudas, the booming shockwaves just come alive and reverberate even through the third level of Centrio every time they were played.

The event? The 6th Hotcarz Extreme Car Audio Show and Competition held last October 4 and 5 at Centrio here in Cagayan de Oro City.

Host organizer Elmer Francisco said he was happy at the turn of events since he did not expect that the participants who swung by surpassed the number of exhibitors who joined past car audio meetups in Metro Manila and elsewhere. The registrants at the 6th Hotcarz Extreme Car Audio Show and Competition

totaled 32 in all, with some coming all the way from Zamboanga and Iligan cities as well as the province of Misamis Occidental.

The most impressed of them all was EMMA Philippines representative Mickey Tang who supervised and co-judged the event. EMMA stands for European Mobile Media Association, the only governing body in the world which sanctions car audio show competitions. For that, all champions in the event last Sunday are automatically qualified to join the Philippine leg of the Asia Finals to be held this November 17 at the sprawling City Time Square in Mandaue City, Cebu.

The 6th Hotcarz Extreme Car Audio Show and Competition has

a total of three overall categories – SQ, ESQL and ESPL. SQ stands for sound quality, ESQL for EMMA Sound Quality League and ESPL for EMMA Sound Pressure League. According to Tang, ESQL was proposed and accepted by EMMA as a major category in 2010 to give chance to players who enjoy listening good sound quality outside their vehicles.

The champions last Sunday were the following: Irving Agan (SQ Experienced 120K), Jorge Millan (SQ Advanced up to 240K), Noel Gallardo (SQ Advanced 2-Way 360K), Hansel Uy (SQ Master 240K), Ryan Chong (SQ Master 6-channel), Abul Mala (SQ Master Unlimited, Ryan Chong (ESQL Advanced Trunk 2W), Mark Anthony Gue (ESQL Advanced

Trunk 4W), Bong Taporco (ESQL Advanced Trunk Unlimited), Gallardo (ESQL Master B Unlimited), Ryan Ang (ESQL Master R Unlimited), Saldana (ESQL Master W Unlimited), Chong (ESPL Advanced Trunk 2W), Gue (ESPL Advanced Trunk 4W), Taporco (ESPL Advanced Trunk Unlimited), Gallardo (ESPOL Master B Unlimited), Saldana (ESPL Master W Unlimited) and Ang (ESPL Master R Unlimited).

The trophies they received were sculpted all the way from Germany, the founding headquarters of EMMA. Distinguished car audio retailers who co-judged the two-day contest were Adi Ong (Iloilo), Boyet Sy (Bacolod) and Jino Bhucksari (Cebu).

Jealousy gives you the feeling of being inferior.

There is an anxiety over someone or something, and fear that you can’t have it.

Jealousy can strike anyone; young and old, from a child being jealous of another child’s toy; siblings trying to compete for their parents love and attention; a teenager jealous of the attention her classmate is getting; to a couple who can be jealous of a third-party threat to their relationship.

Jealousy; if left unchecked can bring harm not only to the person who has the problem, but also to the people they loved and cared for.

Jealousy can give you the feeling of insecurity, fear of loss, fear of rejection, and fear of being unwanted.

Jealousy is just like having an emotional cancer.

It kills the person slowly without them knowing it.

It prevents you to live a happy and fulfilled life.

Jealousy just reveals the real condition of person’s well-being.

The tendency to look at the things you don’t have rather than what you have, to bring down others; are just some of the things a jealous person feels.

Accept who you are; your strengths and weakness; your beauty and your flaws; your ups and downs in life.

Don’t be too critical and hard on yourself.

If you learn how to accept yourself, you learn also how to accept others.

You will learn how to love who you are and not what you are going to be.

Since you love and accepted yourself; there is no reason for you to feel insecure. There is no point of comparing yourself to others.

Have a journal of the good things that are happening in your life.

Learn how to count your blessing. Never focus on the things that you don’t have; but look at the things that are with you.

BE SECURE WITH YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS When you come into a relationship; the goal is not to take, but to give.

Relationship is not one way; the process is twoway; give and take.

If you are sure and secure about yourself; you are mentally and emotionally stable.

Some people do not treat you well; some don’t even value the relationship you have built; some may take you for granted, and never appreciate what you have done for them; then, self-pity comes in.

Never allow them to take away your joy.

CAPITOL University held on October 4 a medical and dental mission and blood donation drive all rolled into one. Capitol University Alumni Affairs Office head Clifford Roa said they were overwhelmed by the public’s response for blood donation as well as the volunteers who came to assist medically and logistically.

Roa, who also serves as the Capitol University Alumni Association president, said that volunteer physicians and dentists came from the Department of Education (DepEd) 10, Philippine National Police (PNP) 10 and the 4th Infantry Division.

Together, they gave prescriptions and medicines to more than 800

walk-in patients and extracted teeth of 60 persons.

The grand medical mission last Saturday was already the fifth as advocacy to serve the community.

Generika made their presence felt in the event, handing out not just over-the-counter drugs but also medicines for diabetes and high blood as well as antibiotics and vitamins.

Those who were not part of the medical team assisted in various capacities. They were members of the Golden Friendship Eagles Club and Opol Eagles Club. Meanwhile, the Philippine Red Cross supervised the bloodletting.

What’s in a month? A lot EVERY month, we Filipinos are bombarded with celebrations and commemorations that we can almost no longer track them. So how do we celebrate them? Shall we enter into a specific advocacy and focus dedication on one celebration? Or shall we do a daltans or dala tanan?

For starters, October is National Children’s Month.

So do we have to be parents of infants and preteens to qualify celebrating this particular event? Or do we have to be daycare teachers or DSWD employees?

Last October 4, the City Social Welfare and Development Office spearheaded an Awareness Walk early in the morning on the rights

of children to jumpstart the celebration. Led by office head Teddy Sabugaa, the CSWD employees walked all the way from the Provincial Capitol Grounds to Gaston Park espousing the theme Bata Kasali Ka, Ikaw Ay Mahalaga. The celebration was initiated by then President Ramos when he issued Proclamation No. 267 for the government to dedicate the month to children, emphasizing the importance of the role of the child within the Filipino family and Filipino society.

October also happens to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Thrive is a CDO-based group formed a few years back by breast cancer survivors to raise awareness for the disease and act as support group to current patients afflicted with the ailment. Chinese circus comes to CDO

LIMKETKAI Atrium came alive last September 28 as the world-renowned Hebei Acrobatic Troupe and Magic Group performed twice – once in the afternoon during the matinee and once in the evening during the gala.

Cagayanons were awed and starstruck as the acrobats from Hebei who were brought here by Jeffrey Ang’s Circle Productions performed their juggling, balancing, maneuvering and aerials during the twohour show.

To galvanize the crowd, the performers first did a unique lion dance – gyrating into choreographed hiphop rhythms, enticing the audience that more stunning acts would follow.

Then the first segment – joggling huge porcelain jars between a male and a female performer – was done. The second segment involved the use of a whip

where a volunteer from the audience was made to stand with a newspaper leaf in hand facing the whip handler. Incredibly, the whip handler was able to swish his thing into the newspaper eight times with a stunned (maybe afraid) volunteer leaving in gasp.

Next was two men balancing each other while twisting their bodies into extraordinary postures. Another duo replaced them, this time balancing vases while throwing them to one another. This they did while they were dancing! Next, female gymnasts held artificial flowers that would make them move while the performers stretched and twisted their bodies. Next, male performers would get the envy of Olympic jumpers as they literally catapulted into space, aiming a ring as high as more than ten feet and executing not one but three perfect somersaults.

For the next scene, the whole atrium was dimmed

as the next set of performers brought with them lighted candles. These they balanced while dancing wildly. Not one candle snuffed out. Then another set of dancers replaced them and did a jolly number while exchanging hats, making sure the hats reached the heads of their fellow dancers. And then there was the chair balancing and the yoyo catching. Well, Filipinos are familiar with yoyo since this Chineseoriginated toy is quite popular among children here (at least, those who are not hooked with modern-day computer tablet-based games).

Accolades from the audience were endless. “Ok kaayo. Great performance! Maayo, makalingaw,” Peter Lim, owner of Malunggay Pastel, said. “Talagsa ra kini sa CDO. Maayo ning gibuhat sa mga producers kay happy ang mga tao,” contractor Engr. Roger Villazorda said. “It was amazing and extraordinary. You don’t get to see that everyday,” A Brown community relations officer Rufino Magbanua said. “It was a very nice presentation,” Seda Centrio manager Lorenzo Tang simply quipped.

The Hebei Acrobatic Troupe and Magic Group was established in 1970 and has performed in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, South Korea, New Zealand, the United States and Europe.

Meanwhile, Ang vowed that Circle Productions will bring to Cagayan de Oro another stunning quality performance soon.
