Globe-Flipside alliance to boost e-books adoption for PHL mEducation, eLearning
L
eading the country’s digital shift of its learning systems by advancing the use of its innovative education solutions, Globe Telecom recently formalized its partnership with Flipside Publishing Services, Inc. (FPSI), which aims to promote the use of electronic books (e-books) in educational and corporate institutions nationwide.
With this synergy, Globe and Flipside’s team-up will open vast opportunities for conversion, aggregation, branding, retailing, publishing and distribution using international standards of e-books for Philippine educational system, including control, as well as the use of best-ofbreed reading apps with built-in customer support system. This devel-
opment unfolded as the telco company launched in November its groundbreaking Education Solutions suite, which comprises of e-books and e-bookstore platform. The collaboration is also enhanced by the support Globe accorded to Flipside for the introduction of its Philippine Educational E-book Reader (PEER), an e-reader app which

re you believing for a business opportunity? Are you praying for an opportunity for you to be promoted? Are you waiting for the right opportunity? Once there was a person who applied to work for me. I appreciate the young man’s enthusiasm to work and his willingness to learn. As an entrepreneur myself, I want to give people who have a strong desire to succeed, a chance. But when he started to work, I noticed that he will only move if you ask him to do something. If you did not tell him to do anything, he will just wait and do nothing. There is no initiative to do something else outside his job description. Even if I want to help him, but I just felt he is not the right person for the task I am looking for. There are many people who are seeking opportunities every day. Let me tell you, there is no scarcity of opportunities. The problem is not the opportunity; the question that should be answered is “Are you ready for the opportunity?” I would like to share with you some tips on how you can take advantage of an opportunity
KNOW HOW AN OPPORTUNITY LOOKS LIKE Many want the opportunity but they do not even know how an opportunity looks like. What if I ask you right now to look for something inside your room? I will just give you 5 seconds to do it. The time starts now! Please look for something, 5, 4,3,2,1. Time’s up! Did you find anything? Well, even if you are busy looking for that something but if you do not know how that something looks like, you will not even recognize it. Just like an opportunity; even if the opportunity is right in front of you, you won’t even recognize it. The first rule in seeking an OPPORTUNITY is to know how it looks like. PREPARE FOR THE OPPORTUNITY Even if the right opportunity comes, but if you are the wrong person, it is not still not considered as an opportunity. Opportunity comes to those who are prepared. You work hard every day. Try to learn many things even if it is not part of your job description. Improve your craft and skills. Learn more than others and be like a sponge. Never be ashamed to ask questions when you don’t know what to do. Find yourself a mentor who can teach you his ways, so that you can learn faster and better. GRAB THE OPPORTUNITY When the opportunity comes, we just need to grab it.
If you don’t grab it, somebody else will. Just like the old saying “Opportunity waits for no one”. The bus won’t wait if you are not willing to get in. You just have to ride on it once it comes. Just like riding a bull in a rodeo match. Never be afraid to take the bull by the horns. Even though you know that there is a possibility that you will get hurt, cut or injured. The price is too big to resist. This is your ticket to fame and glory. You just got to take risk. No one has ever achieved something big in life without taking risk. Those people who win in life are people who are brave enough to face their fears. For they know nothing will be achieved if they do not face their fears. NEVER LET IT GO! This opportunity may only come once in your lifetime, so make sure you do not let go. You hold on to the bull by its horn. No matter how tiring or how much pain you may experience, just never let go. Even though how difficult or challenging the situation maybe, you just got to be confident that you are going to overcome. You should see that you will come out as a winner not a loser. Your attitude towards the challenge is the one that is going to dictate the outcome. If you believe you can do it, you are going to come out as a winner but if you believe you can’t, you are also right. Just believe! Control what you can control and let go of what you can’t control. CEB launches mobile check-in option in time for holiday peak

he Philippines' leading airline, Cebu Pacific Air (PSE:CEB) rolls out its mobile check-in option, just in time for the holidays. Its official Cebu Pacific mobile app is now available on the App Store, so guests can check-in using their mobile devices and book their flights on the go. While initially available for iOS devices, CEB is scheduled to roll out a version for Android devices soon. Mobile check-in is available from 72 hours up to four hours for international flights, and up to two hours for domestic flights. Seats will automatically be assigned for those with no pre-purchased seat assignments. Boarding passes can be emailed, saved as an image, sent as an MMS or printed straight from the iPhone. Guests can do mobile check-in for up to 14 passengers. It will be initially available for those with web or mobile bookings only. The mobile check-in service is not available for guests with infants, interline or check-through flights, or those requiring special handling, as they have to go through the usual check-in process. Those who also wish to book flights can do so using the Cebu Pacific mo-
bile app. CEB and Tigerair Philippines flights, prepaid baggage allowance and seat selection may be booked for up to 14 guests. Only credit cards are accepted for mobile app flight bookings. "We also remind guests to be at the airport at least three hours before their flights, and prepare for possible high volume of traffic during this time," Iyog added.
