ith a grandiose and spectacular presentation earmarked the closing ceremonies of the week long National Tourism Week 2014 Celebration at the SM Atrium last September 27, 2014. It was highlighted with the presentation of a frame featured story to Director Catalino ‘Butch’ E. Chan 111 as Tourism Czar of the region. It was a mellow dramatic highlight when Dante M. Sudaria, CEO of Business Week Mindanao Group of Publications presented him the framed story. Indeed, it was an undisputed laurel crowned unto him on that momentous event. It was a laurel and a prestigious framed story of his rising as Tourism Czar for his undying love and untiring work in promoting Tourism in the region and in the country. His dedication and love of work earmarked Region 10 as one of the top five tourist destinations in the country today. In his more than twenty years working in the industry doing his best for the development of tourism in this part of the country catapulted him to be named as TOURISM CZAR of the region. Highlighting also was the mesmerizing performances of Kagay-an Performing Arts depicting the cultural heritage of the region through ethnic dances of the Maranaos and other ethnic tribes. bassador 2014, Lawrence M. Bersaldo of Iligan City was a crowd favorite when he sang his winning OPM song. Tourism management students from Cagayan de Oro College-Phinma Education surprised and awed the crowd as they presented their own unique version of the Search for Regional Miss Tourism 2014 Beauty Pageant. The concept and actual presentation was a crowd drawing performance during the culmination ceremonies. Tourism beauties from the 13 regions were well represented. The regional costumes they wore were authentic and exuded beauty and elegance. Indeed their beauties were exotic in their gowns created by respective their designers specifically for the event. Their innate beauty and intelligence was captured in the Q & A portion and the finalists did a revealing manifestation of how they converge themselves to the real world of tourism. Certificates of Appreciation were presented to the exhibitors who were promoting their products, beautiful tourist destinations, points of interest and other services to the whole tourism industry. Words of thanks were afforded for the support of men and women for the success of the week- long celebration. Tourism Czar expressed his gratitude and kind words of thanks to his ever faithful DOT 10 Staff for their undying support to the success of the event. KUDOS!
