ith a grandiose and spectacular presentation earmarked the closing ceremonies of the week long National Tourism Week 2014 Celebration at the SM Atrium last September 27, 2014. It was highlighted with the presentation of a frame featured story to Director Catalino ‘Butch’ E. Chan 111 as Tourism Czar of the region. It was a mellow dramatic highlight when Dante M. Sudaria, CEO of Business Week Mindanao Group of Publications presented him the framed story. Indeed, it was an undisputed laurel crowned unto him on that momentous event.

It was a laurel and a prestigious framed story of his rising as Tourism Czar for his undying love and untiring work in promoting Tourism in the region and in the country. His dedication and love of work earmarked Region 10 as one of the top five tourist destinations in the country today. In his more than twenty years working in the industry doing his best for the development of tourism in this part of the country catapulted him to be named as TOURISM CZAR of the region.

Highlighting also was the mesmerizing performances of Kagay-an Performing Arts depicting the cultural heritage of the region through ethnic dances of the Maranaos and other ethnic tribes.

Tourism management students from Cagayan de Oro College-Phinma Education surprised and awed the crowd as they presented their own unique version of the Search for Regional Miss Tourism 2014 Beauty Pageant. The concept and actual presentation was a crowd drawing performance during the culmination ceremonies. Tourism beauties from the 13 regions were well represented. The regional costumes they wore were authentic and exuded beauty and elegance. Indeed their beauties were exotic in their gowns created by respective their designers specifically for the event. Their innate beauty and intelligence was captured in the Q & A portion and the finalists did a revealing manifestation of how they converge themselves to the real world of tourism.

Certificates of Appreciation were presented to the exhibitors who were promoting their products, beautiful tourist destinations, points of interest and other services to the whole tourism industry. Words of thanks were afforded for the support of men and women for the success of the week- long celebration. Tourism Czar expressed his gratitude and kind words of thanks to his ever faithful DOT 10 Staff for their undying support to the success of the event. KUDOS!

First of all, let us go back to the basics.

Let us look at the definition of love.

One thing I learned in life according to my mentor Francis Kong, “PHILOSOPHY will affect the way you live.”

WRONG PHILOSOPHY = WRONG LIVING RIGHT PHILOSOPHY = RIGHT LIVING What is your philosophy about love?

Love is blind.

Love is like a rosary full of mystery.

Love is a feeling that you cannot explain until such time you personally feels it.

In reality, if you build your relationship’s foundation with a wrong philosophy, you will end up with a wrong living.

This is what I’ve learned from my 15 years of marriage. Love is not only about feelings or emotions, it must be based on decision, choice and commitment. That’s the reason why when we got married, the minister reminded us that no matter what happens; “For richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health; for better or for worst; till death do us part.”

What does this mean?

Even if you do not like what you are seeing and feeling, you just got to stick and work it out. True love must not be based on comfort or convenience, but it must be based on commitment and choice.

If you only trust your feelings and emotions, there will be days that you will have enough of each other, and you can call it quits. That

is the reason why we need to have a change of mind and heart; that we cannot base love on the wrong philosophy. We must base it on the right philosophy in order for us to have the right living.

It is also why you can’t fall out of love.

People can fall off buildings and into man holes; but not out of love.

Love is a choice; to love the person no matter who they are or what they are.

Love is a decision; to keep the promise you made no matter how tough the situation maybe.

Love is a commitment; to work it out no matter what you are going through.

Love needs hard work, patience and persistence.

These impressive words by Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro president Luigi Sarraga highlighted the workplace visit of around 20 members of the club at the BWM Group of Publications office here in Abellanosa St., Cagayan de Oro City yesterday.

According to Sarraga, workplace visits such as this one are routinary within outstanding members of the club which represent one sector. Dante Sudaria, founding publisher of the BWM Group which has four publications under its fold, represents the publishing sector of Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro. Sarraga said the club is tremendously grateful to Sudaria and the BWM Group for constantly publishing the projects of the club with far-reaching audiences – the

For the past year, the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro has hosted several projects – the Inter-class Products, the New Generation Forum and the most recent Rotary Youth program where youth councilors were able to produce 43 resolutions submitted to adult city councilors for consideration.

Aside from Mindanao Daily, the other publications under BWM Group are the tri-weekly BusinessWeek Mindanao, the weekender Mindanao Star and the weekly mag Cagayan Times. To cater to local audiences, there is a different front page edition of Mindanao Daily for each issue – one each for Northern Mindanao, Western Mindanao, Caraga and Davao.

Founded barely five years ago, the BWM Group has decided to clash head on with existing established local newspapers on its own with no outside investor. And this has impressed Sarraga even more.

“Being a media investor myself in the past, I know how difficult it is to maintain even one baby newspaper. But Mr. Sudaria has not just one but four. Yet his goals are not just for self-profit, he also aims to promote civic consciousness among the public for instance, disseminating the projects of Rotarians. In this way, the readers will be encouraged more to contribute for the betterment of society,” Sarraga said.

Sudaria also toured the Rotarians – which include business magnates Hong See (Ororama) and Danilo Camat (Robinsons) – to the facilities of BWM Group including the editorial room, the printing facility and

the administration office.

At the lunch fellowship, the Rotarians were serenaded by world music band Dodu Abrio and the Viajeros.

Mae Javier, a Rotarian from Camiguin who is promotions and marketing officer of Villa Paraiso Resort and Apartelle, presented her beach haven for Rotarians and Cagayanons to consider when visiting Camiguin.

Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro has 69 members. It is the oldest Rotary club in Cagayan de Oro founded in 1948. Its next project is to host the Rotary International District 3870 Convention to be held in May 2015. A total of 700 delegates from 44 clubs in the district are expected to attend.

“This will be a big boost to the economy and tourism of CDO,” Sarraga said.
