Ordinance regulating internet cafes gains support of DepEd-Tangub TANGUB CITY – The ordinance regulating the operation of internet cafe Café in the city has gained the support of the Department of Education, Division of Tangub City (DepEdTangub).

DepEd programs: In the fight to overcome problems in Education

Poverty is one of the major reasons behind the challenging rate of drop-outs and out-of-school youths in the country. In fact, 36 percent of students in year 2012 has been reported in dropping out after elementary and only 44 percent graduate in high school because of different reasons including financial instability.

This is also the main fact

behind different educational programs implemented by the government.

GO! Education or Greater Opportunities! Education is a program designed also for the same purpose. This is being realized through tapping and seeking support and contribution from big organizations that assist education sector, such as Philippines Business for Education, Australian

Agency for International Development, United States Agency for International Development and many others.

“Abot Alam” project is also one program that ease access of education in the country.

It is a nationwide campaign that intends to improve the delivery of free and quality education and also aims to achieve zero percent out-ofschool youth by the outset of 2016.

It is true that numerous problems envelopes the education system in the Philip-

pines. Financial instability, family problems, access on education, lack of interest and confidence, personal crisis and the like might just few of these so-called problems. However, fact cannot be denied that there are also several programs implemented to further address and fight these problems.

Education should is a priority. All involved parties should just have to be responsive to continue the fight for education.

K to 12: Preparing Filipino graduates in global arena

February is National Arts Month ON January 28, 1991, then President Corazon Aquino signed off Presidential Proclamation No. 683 designating each February as National Arts Month. And since this particular month is also Love Month, some arts activities are integrated within the concept of romance. Also remember that Chinese New Year’s Day also befalls this month so other art connoisseurs have also mixed their craft to suit the occasion. In this column, we will enumerate to you the events that are lined up here in Cagayan de Oro with regards to the National Arts Month celebration this Year of the Goat.

celebrate Valentine’s Day which is actually the Catholic feast of St. Valentine but which the secular and commercial community has united to know worldwide as the Day of Romance.
