ig Bite Northern Mindanao Food Festival which happened last January 9 to 11, 2015 at Centrio Mall, this city, has gathered food vendors, local food concessionaires and culinary schools all over Northern Mindanao.

Big Bite Food Fest is considered as the biggest food festival in this season.

Centrio Mall Marketing Manager Loren Anne Yasay said that Big Bite is held after the successful Big Bite Northern Luzon held in Centrio’s sister mall, Marquee Mall in Pampanga. The food fest aimed to showcase the food products of Northern Mindanao.

The three-day event happened through a lot of activities and festivities in the mall’s activity area. The first day themed as “The Bounty of Misamis Oriental” displayed Misamis Orien-

tal’s coconut and ostrich dishes. It kicked off with culinary competition, The Great Ostrich Challenge, cultural dance presentation and Big Buffet – Dine at the Garden with entertainment. For Big Buffet, lucky shoppers were randomly chose to participate in sampling.

“Green Bukidnon: Food Basket of Mindanao” is the motif of the following day highlighting Bukidnon’s vegetables, pineapples, beef and coffee. To further engage the theme, a panel discussion of Food Basket of Mindanao and Bukidnon products’ cooking demonstration was

held. The day also featured events such as ‘A Friendly Kitchen: Healthy Cooking’ primary discussion with Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro’s (CIC) Chef Malou Caudal. She gave emphasis on nutrition part of cooking and introduced the TEE (Total Energy Expenditure) Computation Program

of CIC School. In addition are ‘Big Puzzle Challenge: Let’s Start Them Young’ with local celebrity Mommy Marj and her daughter, ‘The Cold Kitchen: A Kitchen for All’ discussion through Chef Hasset Go, The Kitchen Musical and Big Buffet, and finally, a cooking BIG BITE | Page B2

Provincial Governor Bambi Emano also graced the opening program of Big Bite.

Teaching is one of the noblest professions on earth. It is a career only those people who have shown unconditional love for children survive. It is undoubtedly a vocation only few dearly choose. Teaching, as a lifetime occupation, requires a person not only to be expert academically but also to be the role model of the society.

Furthermore, most of the people have viewed teaching as the mother of all careers. They have claimed that teaching profession is the gateway for other fields of endeavor bloom.

In fact, they have stressed out that there would have been no scientists, doctors, lawyers, pilots, managers, engineers, accountants, nurses and other specialists in the arena, if there were no teachers who have carried these hopeful dreamers from the start of the race until the finish line of their ambitions. Teaching is nonetheless a painful undertaking yet a very rewarding activity to live with.

Correspondingly, teachers bring out the best among diverse learners. They have fostered different skills and talents of students in school.

As coaches, these exceptional

players in the educational system have created avenues for schoolchildren’s growth in all aspects of life. These mentors have also shaped the uniqueness of their clients according to their strength, and they unearth ways for the latter to conquer their weaknesses. They have been working day and night, so every student finds learning fun and glorious.

Similarly, many countries that have soared high nowadays enjoy the brilliance of committed teachers. Those underdogs in the battlefield of industrialization have been transformed to become giants in technological advancement by the catalysts of change. In fact, the nations that produce quality graduates often see progress not as a challenge but a tradition. Without a doubt, they have not bargained their people to the silhouette of ambiguity.

Since teaching is a timeless mission, we have to incessantly acknowledge the teachers’ role in nation building.

Their efforts in ensuring a bright future to every child are indispensible. They may only be blotches in the community they live in, but their contributions surely have touched everyone’s life. Every

produce excellent young artists with aethetic potential and renewed spirituality committed to the preservation of Filipino culture and heritage. It also targets to develop students with inclination to music, visual arts, theater arts, creative writing, media arts and dance.

Arts teachers.

Tangub City National High School is one of the schools offering this program. Through it, they were able to expose hidden talents of students in different areas such as singing, dancing and acting. The trainings conducted made the students’ skills improved and well-practiced.

In result, these trainings have produced exceptional artists that became pride not just of the school but as well of Tangub City.

Their performances have attracted outside invitations, giving more life and colors to the city. Thus, it has been a lively avenue in telling the stories and

culture of Tangub City.

Further, the learning institution believe that exposing such kind of intelligence is a powerful way to inject confidence and interest of the students towards learning C8in general. In other term, their interest towards exploring all kinds of subject matter will gain, enticing excellent academic performance. This is one reason behind Department of Education’s effort in giving importance to such fields.

Skills and talents are natural gift, aside from the fact that these are in-born intelligence. Thus, schools play big role in unhiding and improving these forms of intelligence.
