ith a venue that can take your breath away and a strong trail running community, R.O.X. is proud to have headlined the roster of sponsors for this year’s Mapawa Trail Ru in Cagayan De Oro City.

To further promote the beauty of Cagayan De Oro, R.O.X. has made it one of the locations for its stores, which aim to assist travelers, nature lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts on their outdoor endeavors while also sparking interest in shoppers who are yet to discover the beauty of the country’s natural resources.

To be held on October 26 at the Mapawa Nature Park in Cagayan De Oro City, the reason behind R.O.X.’s big push for this event was having seen the beauty of the outdoors in CDO, as well as the growing community of trail runners, it was just natural for it to rally behind such an endeavor. In addition, having seen the passion of the people behind Mapawa Nature Park and its Trail Run, there was no way that they would miss becoming a part of such a great cause.

The Mapawa Trail Run is a trail running event hosted inside the protected 2,500-hectare Mapawa Nature

Park. What used to be a private property of the late Vice-President Emmanuel Pelaez and his family, the Mapawa Nature Park used to be a farm and a vacation place. Later on, the family decided to convert the property to a forest reserve. It now houses a variety of endemic plants, birds, and other wildlife. It has also been said to be the reason why the Malasag area of CDO was protected during the Typhoon Sendong. The Mapawa Nature Park is open to the public to enjoy different activities like rappelling, trekking, camping, horseback riding, wildlife observation, among many others.

Characterized as a “green race”, event organizers did not provide paper cups for the race, which is why runners were expected to bring their own hydration bottles. The Mapawa Run was co-presented by Salomon, technical team is Everest Outdoors, hydration partners Summit Mineral Water and Gatorade, official outfitter 8a.

Lonely, I am Miss Lonely, I got nobody!

R

ecently, I am receiving a lot of questions about being single and some of them are feeling that time is not at their side.

In other words, feeling nila sila ay nagpagiiwanan na ng panahon.

Allow me to share my feeling and thoughts to anyone who is experiencing the same feelings.

Can you recall the song of Gary V. “Pasko Na Sinta Ko?” Pasko na sinta ko, wala pa akong sinta.

Bakit ba ganito? Naiwanan na ako.

That is the version of mga nagsesenti tuwing Christmas at wala pang partner.

Being single and aging is one of the greatest concern anyone can have.

The feeling of being unwanted and alone haunts you that you will be unhappy for the rest of our life.

The idea of having a partner is the only thing that can make your life complete.

Bago pa tayo magemo together.

told me, “But Chinkee, you don’t understand, wala na ako sa kalendaryo!”

“Huwag kang magalala may bingo card pa.”

“But Chinkee, namumuro na rin ako sa bingo card.”

If you allow age to be your barometer when you are supposed to get married, that is not a wise way of choosing your partner.

Just like I knew of someone, who went to a manghuhula and she was informed, “If you do not get married before the age of 22, you will become an old maid for the rest of your life.”

This idea haunted her for years and truly enough, her mind was set to get married before she reaches 23.

So the next guy that walked in the door before the set date was also the day she got married.

Fortunately she was able to beat the deadline. Unfortunately, she is not happy with the marriage, because she realized she married the wrong person. She was pressured to marry because of a deadline.

This is one of the major decisions that you are going to make in your life, so make it count!

THIRD: IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR SINGLE LIFE, YOU WILL NEVER BE HAPPY WITH YOUR MARRIED LIFE Don’t ever believe in the movie line, “YOU COMPLETE ME!” From t h e e q u a tion that I know in life, one incomplete person plus another incomplete person is equivalent to two incomplete individuals coming together and trying to suck life out of each other.

That is the reason why you will hear lines like: “You don’t meet my needs.”

“You are so selfish and insensitive.”

“All you think about is yourself.”

“You don’t care what I feel.”

Sounds familiar?

It should be one complete person plus another complete person coming together that will be equivalent to two complete individuals giving life towards each other.

F OU RT H : I T I S NEVER ABOUT FINDING THE RIGHT PARTNER, IT IS BEING THE RIGHT PARTNER When you come into a relationship it is not only about the criteria that you have set for your potential partner.

But it is about setting your own criteria to be the right partner.

Sometimes we have so many criteria that we want to fulfill. Just like a shopping list before you go to a supermarket.

Here is my thought, rather than setting that with others, why don’t we ask ourselves, “Am I Maka-Diyos, Maka-tao, Masipag, Responsible, Mapagmahal, Hindi

Makasarili, Honest?”

Whatever you have set for others, you just need to set it for yourself.

If you think this way and your partner think this way, you are a perfect match.

Again, it is never FINDING the right partner but BEING the right partner.

Friends, I am so thankful and grateful someone mentored me well and shared to me these truths. Age indeed was not a major concern of mine, I got married at the age of 33, my wife was 27 then.

I was happy and fulfilled being single that is the reason why I was not trying to draw life from a partner because I was full of life. When God set the time to allow me to meet my wife, I was giving her life because I was full of it.

She in the same way was happy and fulfilled with her single life and was not in the pursuit of finding the right partner. So when we got married, we were not drawing life but rather giving life to one another. One thing I learned in life is, you can never give what you do not have. You can never give happiness if you are not happy.

Again, if you are not happy with you single life, you will never be happy with your married life.

Finally, I never try to set expectations from my wife and ask her to jump into my hoops of expectation, just like a trained dog in a circus and score her at the end

How can I be sensitive, so I can avoid hurting her feelings today?
