ilgrim Christian College marked its 66th anniversary with a bang.

It kicked off its celebration with a Fun Run on November 15 followed by a Hudyaka sa Pilgrim last November 22 at the PCC Quadrangle; David and Goliath musical play on November 23, 24 and 25; The Voice of Pilgrim (Final Round) on November 24; Search for Mr. and Miss PCC Ambassador Talent Night on November 21 followed by the coronation on

November 26; a motorcade and field demonstration on November 27; awarding of The Outstanding Pilgrimians on November 28; and College Alumni Homecoming on November 30.

Adjudged Mr. PCC Ambassador 2014 was Christian Paul Taleon while Miss PCC Ambassador was Joelliane Salcedo both coming from the High School Department.

As I give seminars to many companies and organizations, there is one obvious distinction that is glaring. You can easily discern if some of the participants are interested or uninterested with your topic.

Kahit na hindi masyaadong interesado ang mga iba, sinisikap ko talaga gawin ang lahat ng aking makakaya to give my best.

There are opportunities na lumalabas na ang mga ugat ko sa leeg para mabigyan lang ng buhay ang mga ibang nakikinig na walang kabuhay-buhay. Kahit anong effort, bomba and power na ibigay mo.

Kulang na lang magtutumbling ka para makuha ang kanilang interes at atensiyon, pero may mga ibang taong sadyang ninakawaan na ng pangarap. Lahat ng tao ay gustong magbago ang kanilang buhay, pero may mga iba, sadyang hindi na naniniwala.

Ito an mga tinatawag ko na zombie, the walking dead.

(Buhay na patay) Naawa ako sa mga taong na ganoon na kalagayan. Kahit punong puno sila ng potential pero, hindi na sila naniniwala.

Mawala na ang lahat huwag lang ang paniniwala.

“Bakit pa ako mangangarap? Eh, wala namang mangyayari. Ito na ang aking tadhana, tanggapin ko na lang ito, para di na ako mabigo.”

Isinuko na ang bandera kahit hindi pa tapos ang laban.

Napakahirap talaga bumangon kung ikaw ay nanggaling sa pagkabigo. Napakasariwa pa ng sugat upang ikaw ay magsimula muli. Ok lang naman na magpahinga ng pangsamantala. Huwag ka lang mamahinga ng pang habang buhay.

No matter what happened to you in the past, huwag kang aayaw at bibigay. Totoo ang kasabihan, “Habang may buhay, may pag-asa.” Mawala na ang lahat, huwag lang ang pag-asa. Dahil ito na lang pwede mag dugtong ng iyong hininga. Ito ang magbibigay sa iyo ng kapangyarihan para makagumpisa muli. Ito ang tanging apoy na magsisindi muli ng iyong nauupos na kandila.

Kahit umaayaw na ang mga kasama mo. Huwag kang sasama!

Melba GoLao, the owner of Mindy’s Restaurant and an alumnus of the High School Class of 1964, is the TOP Awardee for Entrepreneurship. Rev. Goel Bagundol, a High School Class of 1990 member, is the TOP Awardee for Religious Vocation. The TOP Awardee for Education is Sol Pil-Aceron, a cum laude graduate from Pilgrim Christian College belonging to the class of 1997. Aceron is currently the principal of the Fr. William F. 10th Steag Energy Quiz today at Centrio SOME 30 secondary schools in Northern Mindanao will compete during the 10th Steag energy quiz on 5 December 2014 at the Ayala Centrio Mall, this city.

At least P24,000 worth of cash prizes plus trophies and medals will be given away. Each participating school is represented by a team of three students who were pre-selected by their respective school administrators and identified as among the brightest in their class.

The quiz covers facts, laws and current events pertaining to electricity, energy and other subjects relating to natural and physical sciences, chemistry and physics.

The annual event has become one of the much awaited campus competitions among high schools in Northern Mindanao as it provides opportunities among students to demonstrate and prove their competence and knowledge in the fields of science and energy.

That crazy deceptive thing called oxytocin

OXYTOCIN is a hormone released naturally by the body which plays an important role in the neuroanatomy of intimacy. Recent studies have proven oxytocin’s immense role in orgasm, social recognition and pair bonding. Oxytocin levels are notably increased around the time during stimulation of the nipple/ areola and genitals.

It’s so easy to dose oneself with oxytocin naturally.

All you need to do is simply hug someone or shake their hand. The simple act of bodily contact will cause your brain to release low levels of oxytocin – both in yourself and in the person you’re touching. Now those are harmless levels.

In genital stroking and fondling where high levels of oxytocin are present, it increases the desire for couples to gaze at one another and helps maintain erections resulting to orgasm. During climax itself, the brain is flooded with oxytocin – a possible explanation why some couples like to cuddle after lovemaking. That is

why I dubbed it earlier as a deceptive hormone because it can induce sexual arousal. If the person you’re reciprocating arousal is not your spouse, then you will have a moral problem. But there are other reasons.

Oxytocin is so convincing that we think at the moment of coitus that we are in love with our partner. Herein lies a bit of deception. Oxytocin is a gender-biased hormone.

When it is released during orgasm, it will induce “trust towards one’s partner” for women. But for men, it renders a different reaction.

After getting a dose of oxytocin in his system, a man simply enjoys the reward that comes from feeling

good about sex. Then after that, he’ll forget the sexual encounter in due time.

A different thing occurs for women. After making love, a woman may mistake the oxytocin release as whispering to her, “this is your perfect partner.” In reality, this is not necessarily true.

For the perception you have at the moment of oxytocin release is just an illusion that you create about the person. So never rely on lovemaking as an impulsive way to give trust.

WHAT TO DO IN CASE RUBY BECOMES NASTIER GLOBE Telecom advises its customers in Eastern Visayas to take necessary measures in preparation for Typhoon Hagupit, which entered the Philippine area of responsibility today. The typhoon is expected to hit some of the areas devastated by Typhoon Yolanda about a year ago.

The telecommunications provider urges its customers to charge their cellphones and other mobile devices, in case the weather anomaly causes extended commercial power failure. The company suggests customers may also opt to buy alternative source of energy such as power banks and rechargeable lamps with USBs. Here are some tips to conserve battery life of smartphones: 1. Log off or turn off unnecessary mobile apps or at least disable push notifications for nonessential apps 2. Turn off unnecessary radios such as GPS, blue tooth and Wi-Fi. 3. Switch off vibrate function and utilize ring tone instead.
