Arrested former Marawi mayor denies Maute links By GERRY LEE GORIT, Correspondent
CAGAYAN de Oro City— The former mayor of Marawi City who was arrested by authorities Wednesday night denied he was involved in Marawi rebellion instigated by the dreaded Maute terrorists group. Former mayor Fahad Salic was arrested by the police by virtue of an arrest warrant against him for his alleged involvement in the Marawi rebellion, Superintendent Lemuel Gonda, spokesman of the Police Regional Office 10, said. He was arrested on Wednesday night, at a police checkpoint in Barangay San Martin, Villanueva town, Misamis Oriental, while on his way to his residence, here. “He (Salic) was arrested because of an arrest order issued against him by the Department of National Defense, through Arrest
Order No. 2, where his name is included for involvement in the Marawi rebellion,” Gonda said. Salic denied the accusation. “I am not involved in that (Marawi siege).
