Lawmaker lauds junking of kidnap raps against Lumad supporters By Antonio L. Colina IV of MindaNews
DAVAO City--A progressive lawmaker lauded Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre for dismissing the charges of serious illegal detention and kidnapping against 15 human rights defenders who are supporting the Lumad bakwits at the Haran Evacuation Center here. In a text Message on Tuesday, Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate said the accusations were baseless and intended to harass the human rights activists. He said the scrapping of the “preposterous” charges vindicated not only the accused activists but also the Lumad who have been forced to leave their homes due to militarization. See lauds, page B3

THE Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Cagayan de Oro – Misamis Oriental chapter joined its counterparts nationwide in the celebration of Accountancy Week 2016. With the theme Level Up timed to uplift the profession in the country to Asean standards, accountants are joined by their student counterparts for a series of Various agency-members of the Regional Council on Disability Affairs (RCDA) grace the PIA “Lambo Dyes” radio program to highlight their respective roles as well as their events from July 16 to 23, programs and services in promoting care for the persons with disabilities (PWDs) on 2016. By Sunday (July 17), the Accountancy students held a motorcade culminating at Xavier University Grade School where they held a sportsfest with such games as basketball, volleyball, patintero, takyan and pass the relay.
