SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur--The police chief of Barobo, Surigao del Sur is in hot water after he was charged with sexual assault by his subordinate, a policewoman. The incident took place in the evening of July 11 when Chief Inspector Dominador Plaza drove her home in his Ford Everest Titanium car where he tried to rape her upon reaching a dark isolated area of the diversion road in Barobo. A statement of the victim documented at the Women and Children Protection Desk at the Police Provincial Office in Tandag City disclosed that Plaza forcibly laid on top of her See charge, page B3

ZAMBOANGA City -- A total of 284 families displaced by the 21-day September 2013 siege have returned to their places of origin in Barangay Mariki, this city. This was after Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar and National Housing Authority (NHA) officials spearheaded the turnover of the permanent houses in simple ceremonies held on Saturday at the Mariki barangay hall. Salazar said the longawaited return of the displaced families to their permanent houses took place

after the NHA completed the installation of Kotech septic tanks that will serve as the temporary sewage facility. Salazar said that all the 643 housing facilities constructed by the NHA under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) for Barangay Mariki are now occupied with the turnover of the 284 units in Saturday. Caraga police spearheads run for a cause BUTUAN City -- The Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) 13 in partnership with the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Caraga and the city government here spearheaded a fun run dubbed as “Run for Peaceful and Safer Butuan” early morning Sunday. Chief Supt Rolando Felix, Police Regional Office 13 director and Manuel Luis Ochotorena, regional director of OCD-Caraga led the activity. Felix said the fun run is an advocacy highlighting the importance of peace and safety and calling for everyone’s participation in achieving more peaceful and safer communities. More than 1,000 runners attended the fun run, which started around 4:30 a.m. at Guingona Park, this city.
