ZAMBOANGA City -- A total of 284 families displaced by the 21-day September 2013 siege have returned to their places of origin in Barangay Mariki, this city. This was after Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar and National Housing Authority (NHA) officials spearheaded the turnover of the permanent houses in simple ceremonies held on Saturday at the Mariki barangay hall. Salazar said the longawaited return of the displaced families to their permanent houses took place
after the NHA completed the installation of Kotech septic tanks that will serve as the temporary sewage facility. Salazar said that all the 643 housing facilities constructed by the NHA under the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction (Z3R) for Barangay Mariki are now occupied with the turnover of the 284 units in Saturday. Caraga police spearheads run for a cause BUTUAN City -- The Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) 13 in partnership with the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Caraga and the city government here spearheaded a fun run dubbed as “Run for Peaceful and Safer Butuan” early morning Sunday. Chief Supt Rolando Felix, Police Regional Office 13 director and Manuel Luis Ochotorena, regional director of OCD-Caraga led the activity. DSWD-Caraga launches 2015 Listahanan Database, Regional Profile of the Poor Butuan City -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)Caraga successfully launched on July 11, 2016 at Almont Hotel’s Inland Resort the result of the 2nd round assessment of the Listahanan Project and the Regional Profile of the Poor. The activity is part of the 1st SEM CY 2016 Social Welfare and Development (SWD)-Forum which was attended by the local chief executives in the region, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers, Municipal Planning Officers, National Government Agencies, Non-Government Organizations, Academe, media and other stakeholders. Undersecretary Florita Villar of Policy and Plans Group is one of the keynote speakers of the said event. In her speech, she explained the objectives of Listahanan in uplifting the lives of poor families. “Prior the implementation of the Listahanan, the national government struggled with having no unified, rigorous and objective basis for identifying beneficiaries of its social protection programs. RPC orientation seminar. In support to the country’s rice production it is the objective of the Department of Agriculture (DA) to uplift the lives of Filipino farmers by increasing their productivity and income. Accordingly, the agency has set in place the Rice Processing Center (RPC) one of the interventions seen to increase postharvest efficiency by reducing post-harvest losses. The RPC is equipped with modern machineries and equipment, storage, drying and other handling/processing system that helps in the minimization of postharvest losses and improving the quality of rice produce. As the implementing agency, DA-RFO 10 and its partners from the municipal local government units of Lala, Lanao del Norte and Maramag, Bukidnon and the operators have recently convened for an orientation seminar on the RPC. Region 10 has two RPC located at the municipalities of Lala, Lanao del Norte handled by Lower Multi Purpose Cooperative and Maramag, Bukidnon and will be operated by Maramag Credit Cooperative. The group reviewed the various operational and business framework;
RPC organizational structure, functions and responsibilities; procurement, processing and marketing; and record, bookkeeping and accounting procedures. The RPC II component includes rice milling facilities worth P12.5M composed of 3 sets multi pass rice mill with a capacity of 1.2 tons per hour with a minimum output capacity; a 550 square meter warehouse; a 1-ton capacity weighing scale; and a portable moisture meter. The project is funded under the Rice Program with a total budget of P16M through 85:15 cost sharing scheme, wherein 85% of the total project cost (P15,000,000) is shouldered by the government while the 15% (P100,000) is the counterpart of the proponent. Included in the funding is the supplemental cost for the operational capital of P2M and an administrative cost of P500,000. Carol T.
