B1 Camp-based rehab program launched in Lanao del Norte

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte — The Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office (LDN-PPO), in partnership with CDO-Pathway Recovery Foundation Incorporated, launched the Camp-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CADRE), at the headquarter, Camp Gallego, Pigcarangan, Tubod town, Lanao del Norte.

Acting provincial police director PSSupt Faro Antonio O. Olaguera said they initially have 69 drug responders from the municipalities of Kapatagan, Lala, and Tubod who have availed this program, and that the responders will be given a chance to renew their lives and be mentors for other drug victims.

Olaguera also said they will foster their partnership with government line agencies in providing appropriate services to drug responders during the CADRE. For her part, Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda Q. Dimaporo, who graced the launching, said that through the initiative of the police officers of this province, the Operation Tokhang (Toktok Hangyo) or knock and plead will be realized in line with the theme, ‘There is Life After Tokhang.’

PURSUANT to Executive Order No.201 s. 2016 (EO 201), which grants compensation adjustment for government workers and additional allowances for military and uniformed personnel (MUP) in four tranches, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has issued National Budget Circular No. 568 and Local Budget Circular No. 113 for the said compensation adjustment effective January 1, 2017.

The circulars will implement the second tranche of compensation adjustment for the said public servants.

This domain is equally important for growth together with the other two domains because of their overlapping relationship

The students’ development must be holistic. It requires a unique balance of different factors that are quite essential in order to survive the demanding challenges of the society. Stressing on the Psychomotor domain, it is more practical than ideal that the preparation of physical activities embedded in the curriculum and program guide of every teacher must

be proactive. Every student must be honed and be guided on how to develop its inner potentiality with strategic motivation and constant encouragement. These different physical skills require practice and is measured in terms and speed, precision, distance, procedure or techniques in execution. K-12 offers more livelihood opportunities for graduates

The k-12 program which include two additional years of pre-college education will equip learners with skills that will better prepare them for the future, either in Employment, Entrepreneurship, Skills Development (Further Tech-Voc training) or Higher Education (College).

A very recent development says students who will be entering senior high school starting school year 2016-2017 will be taught skills to start their own businesses, according to the Department of Education.

Education Assistant Secretar y Jesus Mateo said that entrepreneurship would be part of the curriculum no matter what track senior high school students chose. There are four tracks: academic, sports, arts and design, and technical-vocational-

livelihood.

DepEd has announced that the academic track would have subjects under four “strands”: Accountancy, Business and Management; Humanities and Social Sciences; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics; and General Academic.

The sports track would have subjects to prepare students for careers in sports, fitness, and recreation, while the arts and design track would have subjects to prepare students for careers in design and creative industries.

The technical-vocational-livelihood track would offer four “specializations”: Agri-Fishery Arts, Home Economics, Industrial Arts, and Information and Communications Technology.

Thus, Entrepreneurship would be “contextualized” depending on the student’s

track, and the students would be taught organizational and interpersonal skills; problem-solving and decision-making skills; time and money management skills. These are the backbones of entrepreneurship.

Students would be exposed to and would learn the key concepts, principles, and processes of entrepreneurship, as well as how to implement a business plan. Core competencies would be developed, while career opportunities would be discussed. The content was crafted with the help of experts, businessmen, and entrepreneurs, Mateo said.

Content-wise, the course would not be much different from those management and business majors studied in university. The difference was that this time, all students would have access to it. This indeed is needed because students may be uninterested in entrepreneurship just because they

had not been exposed to it.

K-12 would introduce students to the world of entrepreneurship. Through this, the wrong notion that entrepreneurship are just for those in business schools would be erased.

With proper training and support, anyone could be an entrepreneur, whether they were science-oriented or sports-oriented.

It is hoped that through the K-12, entrepreneurship would have a high value among students.

The youth would realize that they could be more than employees.

The dream should not end at mere employment or getting a job. One may not work for someone else, nor do they have to leave the country and work in foreign lands. Senior high school graduates could create opportunities for themselves and for others, and could control their own destiny.

UNIVERSAL primary education was one of the Millennium Development Goals which was successfully implemented.

That’s because education is a global factor in ending global poverty. With education, employment opportunities are broadened, income levels are increased and maternal and child health is improved. In areas where access, attendance and quality of education have seen improvements, there has also been a slow in the spread of HIV/AIDS and an increase in the healthiness of the community in general. In fact, children of educated mothers are 50 percent more likely to live past the age of five.

Not only does education improve individual and familiarl health but it also improves the health of a community. In countries with solid education systems in place, there are lower crime rates, greater economic growth and improved socialservices.

Education is a fundamental human right and a public good, key to ending poverty and building an equitable and sustainable future. As such, education has a unique role within the new development agenda: it has the power to underpin transformative change, providing opportunity, hope and protection to the lives of hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

One of the identified reason, school is located

at far flung area situated at the southwest part of Kibawe, where most of the pupils have to hike going to school with empty stomach, but could not be declared under nourish because they had reached the normal weight yet the food intake is imbalanced and could not supply the vitamins needed for the body and brain.

Next identified reason, was the teachers do not have enough instructional materials for the pupils to ignite interest for their lessons, the supplies allocated for the school is not enough for the needs and materials for the teachers

and pupils considering the Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses Funds (MOOE) allocation is not enough because the enrolment is decreasing.

Through the help of School to School partnership Funds which is the P140, 000.00, the teachers were provided materials for instructions, learning tools, seminars and workshops to enhance their teaching skills and acquire more skills from the teachers from the Leader school. Be it ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in its session assembled, that: Section 1. - City Ordinance No. 16-6506, entitled; “An Ordinance Temporarily Transferring The Venue Of The Weekend Night Market And Cafe Of Iligan City From September 16, 2016 Up To October 2, 2016 Amending In The Process Sections 3, 7, 13 And 14 Of City Ordinance No. 15-6341 is hereby REPEALED and RESCINDED. Section 2. - Sections 3, 7, 13 and 14 of City Ordinance No. 15-6341 which were amended by City Ordinance No. 16-6506, is hereby REVIVED and that the operation of the Weekend Night Market and Cafe shall be transferred back to the Iligan City Public Plaza, effective October 7, 2016.

SECTION 3. Repealing Clause - All previous ordinances, executive orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof which are inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed and modified accordingly.

SECTION 4. Separability Clause - If, for any reason or reasons, any part or provision of this ordinance shall be held unconstitutional or invalid, other parts or provisions hereof which are not affected thereby shall continue to be in full force and in effect.

SECTION 5. Effectivity - This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.

The K-12 curriculum is more than just adding years to your child’s schooling. The K 12 curriculum gives students time to master basic academic skills.

A recent change in the Philippines’ educational system was implemented starting in 2011. President Aquino signed the K 12 education into law in 2013, adding three years to the country’s basic education curriculum.

The new K 12 curriculum guide requires all Filipino students to have one year of kindergarten, six years of elementary schooling (grades 1 to 6), four years of junior high school (grades 7 to 10), and two years of senior high school (grades 11 to 12).

Prior to the implementation of the K 12 curriculum guide, the Philippines was one of only three countries in the world and the only one in Asia that still had only 10 years in basic education.

This has always been seen as a disadvantage for our students who are competing in an increasingly global job market. The longer educational cycle of the K 12 curriculum is seen as critical in giving Filipino students a higher quality of education.

The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization – Innotech (SEAMEO-Innotech) found the previous 10-year educational cycle to be congested, with a 12-year curriculum squished into 10 years.

As a result, Filipino students have trailed behind students around the world in the areas of math, languages and science. The new curriculum is aimed to fix that.

The K to 12 Program covers 13 years of basic education with four key stages. The key stages are the following Kindergarten to Grade 3, Grades 4 to 6, Grades 7 to 10 (Junior High School), and Grades 11 and 12 (Senior High School). The Philippines is the last country in the

Asia who adopted the K-12 program.).

K-12 program is recognized as standard for students and professionals all over the world.

Proponents say that with the 12 years of schooling, students will get more information and skills.

Experts believe that a 12-year program is the best period for learning under basic education”.

DepEd officials earlier said that the benefits a child may get if he undergoes K-12 program is to have the greater chance for work and business.

According to a DBM release, National Budget Circular No. 568 outlines the guidelines, rules, and regulations for the implementation of the second tranche of EO 201 for civilian personnel in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches, the Constitutional Commissions and other Constitutional Offices, State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and government-owned-andcontrolled corporations (GOCCs) covered by the Compensation and Position Classification System (CPCS), under Republic Act No. 6758.

Local Budget Circular No. 113, on the other hand, covers all positions for salaried local government unit (LGU) personnel and all positions for barangay personnel who are paid monthly honoraria.

With the second tranche implementation of the compensation adjustments, government workers are set to have more money in their pockets as their salaries will increase in addition to the mid-year and year-end

bonus.

“In addition, an enhanced Performance-Based Bonus will be granted to those who meet their agency targets. For instance, a Teacher 1 will get an annual compensation package of P324,962 while a Nurse 1 will get P398,822, bringing their total compensation to twice that of their private sector counterparts,” it said.

Meanwhile, the MUP are now entitled to a provisional allowance, mid-year and year-end bonus, an enhanced PerformanceBased Bonus subject to accomplishment of performance targets, as well as an increase in the hazard pay from P390.00 to P540.00 per month.Certain ranks will also receive augmentation in the form of officers’ allowance.

“Thus, in 2017, the total annual compensation for a Police Officer 1 (PO1) and a military Private will be P399,396. This represents a 14 percent increase in compensation for a PO1 and a 10 percent increase in compensation for a Private.

Davao Light employees share to flood and fire victims of NHA Relocation Site No one has ever become poor by giving. This was proven during the outreach program of Davao Light and Power Co. employees last December 29, 2016 at the NHA Relocation Site in Los Amigos, Tugbok, Davao City.

The recipients are the families who were victims of flood and fire in Matina Pangi in 2011.

Davao Light employees donated various goods that include toys, rice, canned goods, socks and slippers in time of the celebration of New Year.

Although the announcement has already been made through an online notice, DTI-MOR-PO is still undergoing refurbishments, which halted some of the office’s major operations

and services.

Despite this, Boniao assures clients that these inconveniences will only be felt in a short period of time.

DTI-MOR-PO’s operations and services will most likely be fully functional within the week of January 9.

Aside from this, clients can also expect more manageable transactions in the new provincial office especially that the transport system to city hall, where business permits are approved, is now easier.
