Approved P4.4b city budget, carries ‘Intel fund’ of P110m By CRIS DIAZ Executive Editor
CAGAYAN de Oro City-The local august body here has approved a P4.4 billion 2017 budget of the city government, down by P1 billion from the proposed budget of P5.4 billion. The new annual budget, however, would double the annual business tax paid by the taxpayers in the 2016 annual business assessment, the city treasurer said. “Business Tax would likely increase to 100 percent by next year once the city council approves the 2017 annual budget proposal amounting to P5.4 budget,” City Treasurer Glen Bañez said. Bañez cited an example, stating that if a business establishment has paid for the P1000 tax last year, it
would be doubled to P2,000 next year. If I were to decide dili unta ma approve arun dili nako ma pressure ang mga negosyante dri sa dakbayan, ako napud ang ma hans a kan anis a reklamo , (if I were to decide, I would want that the proposed budget be disapproved, otherwise, my office would, again, be blamed for this), Bañez said. However, Bañez has expressed the confidence that the revenue that could cover the budget could be attained next year, the biggest amount ever proposed since City Mayor Oscar Moreno sat as Mayor. The approved budget, which is still subject to the approval by the Department of Budget (DBM), See budget, page A7
