Maragusan to hold Youth Day on Feb 14 By Michael Uy of PIA 11

TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte -- Maragusan will celebrate Youth Day on Heart’s Day. The municipal government is now finalizing its plan to conduct a whole day affair for the youth on February 14, 2017. According to the Municipal Information Officer Noli Tanggoyoc, the Youth Day will begin with a Fun Run dubbed as Dagan para sa Kabatan-unan sa Maragausan on Heart’s Day, which will be held within the Poblacion Area. Tanggoyoc said that they are expecting to gather around 200-300 participants for the three-kilometer run, which is open to all running enthusiasts. According to their advertisements, the registration fee is peg at PhP-250 per participants, which is inclusive of a singlet, certificate and coffee. Participants may win up to PhP1,000 and a trophy, he added. Taggoyoc also bared that aside from the Fun Run, they will also hold talks on the Philippine National Police’s War on Drugs, Gag See hold, page A3

Duterte honors wounded soldiers in Maguindanao

PRESIDENT Ro drigo Roa Duterte honored 12 wounded soldiers, at Camp Siongco Station Hospital, during his visit to Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao on Friday, January 27, 2017. The soldiers who belonged to 6th Infantry Division of Philippine Army got injured in a clash with lawless armed group in Ampatuan town on Thursday, while acting as support to law enforcers serving a search warrant against the town mayor, Rasul Sangki. DAVAO CITY -- The National Economic and Development Authority in Davao Region (NEDA-11) has identified seven priority projects that are sure to happen in Davao City from 2017 to 2022. Ma. Lourdes Lim, director of NEDA XI, said as part of the investment plan for Davao Region will be the Davao City Bypass Construction Project, Davao City Coastal Bypass Road Project, Davao Public Transport Modernization Project, Mindanao Railway Project

on the Tagum-Davao-Digos segment, Davao Sasa Port Modernization Project, Development Operations and Maintenance of the Davao Airport and the DavaoIsland Garden City of Samal Bridge Project.. She said these projects are the big-ticket infrastructure developments that are being part of the investment program. Lim explained that being part of the investment program entails a preceding feasibility study for the project to be considered by the funders. “Once you are part of

the pipeline in the public investment program, we can be assured that the budget authority will be provided by the national government to be assisted by our multi-lateral and bilateral partners,” she said. Lim also revealed that disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation are also part of the strategy in the local, regional and national development plans.
