TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte -- Local Government Units (LGUs) in Northern Davao Region have declared state of calamities triggered by incessant raining for more than one week.

Davao Oriental has already been declared under state of calamity in a special session that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan held at around 9:30 a.m. on January 24, 2017.

Last week, the municipal governments of Cateel and Boston also made a state of calamity declaration due to massive flooding.

Provincial Information

Officer Karen Lou Deloso in an inquiry said that Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (MDDRMC) of Baganga will also be recommending a state of calamity declaration after reviewing the Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA).

DAVAO CITY -- The City Government of Davao welcomes the assistance in form of study from the Japanese government through the Japanese International Cooperation Agency to push the development in the city.

Dwight Domingo bared the development study will cover almost everything from zoning, land use, proper solid waste management, transportation and traffic scheme being implemented

in the city, aimed at helping the city move forward.

He said the JICA has asked the city government to focus on areas like the city land use plan, massive traffic experienced throughout the city, solid waste management and the flood.

“Mayor Sara DuterteCarpio wants the development to spread from the city business district towards agro-tourism and agri-related businesses to the highlands in the third and second districts of the city,” Domingo said.

He said the mayor also wants a study on transport planning, where the city can come up with a massive transport system.

Domingo said the current system of waste management manifests problems in waste segregation where most of the residents does not comply.

“Most of us Davaoenos is guilty of this concern. We do not segregate,” he said.

DAVAO CITY -- There is a demand in the animation industry here in Davao, this according to Ray Rubio, president of the creative sector for ICT-Davao.

As proof , a company is

group which he co-founded DUAAD (Davao United Association of Animators and Designers) has about 3,000 members.

He said having an animation industry in Davao

could provide livelihood opportunities for many Dabawenyos. Designers and animators earn about P2,500 to P3,500 per 10 seconds of animated work.

It is truly overwhelming to produce graduates who are not just skilled but as well recognized because of their ability and values.

Moreover, one efficient way to teach this is by being the role model of them all.

Teachers must be responsible at all times, in their actions,

speech and deeds. Needless to say, students look up unto them. Hence, it is but proper that whatever you say or whatever is there that you have taught them must be also done by you.

That is an essential lesson a teacher could ever give, to bring flesh on the teachings he provided and to bring effectivity to the words he uttered.

Teachers are people who produced engineers, nurses, doctors, architects, psychologists, journalists and several others. It is the noble profession.

DRRMC led by Provincial Government Anthony G. del Rosario met and eventually passed a recommendation for the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to place the province under a state of calamity.

In an interview, Del Rosario pointed out the need for such declaration citing two municipalities which had already been placed under the state of calamity while MDRRMCs of two other towns were on the process of recommending the same.

During the PDRRMC emergency meeting, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Arlene Semblante said that the municipalities of Asuncion and Carmen were already placed under state calamity while Kapalong and Braulio E. Dujali will also be declaring the same status.

In a separate interview, Municipal Information Officer Pedeejeel Moral revealed that Dujali MDRRMC led by Municipal Mayor Leah Ma-

rie Moral-Romano passed a resolution this morning recommending SB to declare the town under state of calamity.

Dujali SB was also set to hold a special session to tackle the MDRRMO recommendation, Moral said.

Before this Court verified joint petition for the approval and registration of the Divorce filed by the petitioners and alleging among others.

That petitioners are husband and wife respectively in a marriage performed under Civil rites on September 15, 2011 at San Nicolas, Cebu City,,both of them can be served with summons and other legal processes relative to this case at their residents at 38 Luna St., Iligan City and Old Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City respectively;

That said marriage did not last long due to lack of love and affection until the relationship manifested incompatibility and sustained misunderstanding between petitioners and reached the point of irreconcilability and they separated from each other for more than four (4) years,they decided to separate live physically in bed and board thereby, executed Memorandum of Agreement in order to formalize their separation. Since their separation, they had never been communicating or supporting either financially or emotionally to each other,neither minding each other affair’s; Petitioner’s seek judicial decree of divorce, thereby, severing their marriage bond on September 15, 2011, so that they will have free hand to do what a single man or woman could do without marital burdens. Reconciliation between them had already been diligently employed but all proved futile.

WHEREFORE, finding this petition to be sufficient in form and substance, set the initial hearing of this case on February 24, 2017 at 9:00 a.m at which time, date and place. Any interested party may appear and show why the petition should not be granted. Let copy of this Order be published in a news paper of General Circulation in the City of Iligan once a week for three (3) consecutive weeks at the expense of the petitioners.

Region 10 campus journalists bag awards, rank 6th in NSPC

PAGADIAN CITY - Northern Mindanao campus journalists set a 10-year best sixth-place in individual contests ranking among 18 regions during the National Schools Press Conference, January 22-25, this year at Saint Columban College here.

“Obviously, we have improved a lot,” said Department of Education 10 regional director Allan G. Farnazo, after the 286-strong Region 10 delegation received 30 individual and group contest awards.

DepEd records would show the best performance ever for Region 10 was when she ranked third overall in individual events in the 2006 NSPC in Kalibo, Aklan.

In news writing, Earl Joy Lopina of Yumbing National High School, Mambajao, Camiguin, who was a second-place winner(English, secondary) in last year’s NSPC in Koronadal, settled for 6th place while Prince One Tala of Tangub City Central School took the 4th spot in Filipino elementary.

Another back-to-back winner is Remuel dela Cruz of Bukidnon’s Kalilangan National High School who, from last year’s first-place award dipped to 6th this time in editorial cartooning Filipino while another Bukidnon-based cartoonist in Filipino Zarnico Fedly Ibo of Cabanglasan Elementary School clipped the 7th spot.

Hollywood is outsourcing its animation needs from the country, for example the animated series George of the Jungle has Filipino animators, Rubio said.

He also said that part of the team behind George of the Jungle are the ones looking at setting up a company here in the city.

“The interest of a company putting up shop here in Davao means there is a huge demand.” Rubio said.

Rubio is organizing a forum on the animation industry in the city titled Philippine Animation and Game Development: Growth Opportunity Abounds. The forum gathers top industry players in the country, local animators, designers and students. The forum is held today, January 30.

The morning session is an overview about the animation industry and in the afternoon, top animators and designers will be displaying their works and conducting a demo.
