Duterte and Abe met with several Filipino and Japanese business leaders here on Friday. Abe and Duterte also agreed to work together in pursuing a comprehensive approach in the war against the illegal drugs trade. The President welcomed Japan’s interest in supporting measures to address the tremendous social cost of drug addiction which includes rehabilitation. In a separate statement, Abe said he is humbled by President Duterte’s invitation to come to the Philippines. DAVAO CITY -- A top official of the city assured that the local government is monitoring the progress in the construction of the Buhangin to Bunawan road following mounting complaints from the residents in the area who are delayed by the horrendous traffic. Ivan Cortez, city planning and coordination officer of the city said a monitoring group composed of city hall officials and representatives from the different construction firms in the road construction are monitoring the progress of the project. “The construction firms have reported 70 percent to the great demand for abaca in the world market today for its various uses in making security papers, paper accomplishment of the road money,ropes, insulators, and handicraft items.
