Duterte okays P1,000 SSS pension hike By RUEL V. PELONE Managing Editor
CAGAYAN de Oro City-Leaders of the progressive group Bayan Muna yesterday thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for heeding the voice of the people in
granting the long awaited hike in the pension. In a statement, Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate said the P2,000 hike is still very minimal for the required decent and livable pension. “We hope that this would help our pensioners
to somehow alleviate their hardships,” added Zarate. He said Bayan Muna will continue to push for more reforms and for the early implementation of the second P1, 000 tranches of the increase. SSS chair Amado Valdez
said the first tranche of pension increase will be implemented starting this January while the second tranche will be implemented in 2022. “This means a lot to our senior citizens,” said Bayan Muna Chairman Neri
