ILIGAN CITY — E-Presyo, an online price monitoring system of the Department of Trade and Industry, allows consumers to check suggested retail prices (SRPs) and the prevailing prices, including the lowest and highest prices of basic necessities and prime commodities (BNPC), at the comforts of their home, as long as there is an internet connectivity using PC, smart phones and tablets.

In series of DTI e-Presyo Briefing in Iligan City and the Province of Lanao del Norte earlier, Provincial Director Ruel B. Paclipan said that with DTI e-Presyo, establishments provide assurance to consumers that they will get the best value of their hard-earned money.

DTI e-Presyo also guides retailers to sell BNPC within the SRPs and prevents them from increasing their prices unreasonably and enables them to compare prices with competitors thereby offering competitive prices. “ The DTI e-Presyo, likewise, strengthens part-

nership and further augment consumer confidence through reasonable prices and adequate supply of BNPC,” said Paclipan.

Accessing the DTI ePresyo and giving feedbacks on its usage make room for continuous improvement to be more responsive to consumers and stakeholders.

CebPac ramps up collection efforts to reach 4-M malnourished children

Manila, 09 January 2017 – The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific (PSE:CEB), strengthens its partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to reach millions of undernourished children in the country.

The endeavor is part of the global organization’s Change for Good program which accepts contributions from passengers on board flights of partner airlines.

Proceeds contribute to the UN children’s agency’s First

1,000 Days campaign which provides optimal nutrition, from a mother’s pregnancy to a child’s second year of life.

Since July 1, 2016, CEB began accepting contributions of all currencies from passengers. The contributions are being used to fund nutritional supplements distributed to poor households with pregnant mothers or malnourished children.

A portion of the funds also support barangay-level information drives on nutri-

tion in UNICEF’s focus areas in Northern Samar, Zamboanga, and Maguindanao.

Kiorao Elementar y School was one of the recipients of First Bukidnon Electric Cooperative (FIBECO) Donate a Bag Program. Fibeco headed by Board of Director’s President Romeo Y. Pacanan, retired school principal of Kibawe District donated 100 bags with school supplies to the pupils of Kiorao last August 22, 2016.

The bags were distributed to the children in the presence of Barangay Captain Isaias Moneva and teachers. Director Pacanan told the children in his message that in behalf of the Fibeco personnel’s and

board members, they’re thankful for the success of the cooperative through the households who are using electricity in their homes and so with conserving the energy.

He further stressed that they are looking forward to give in return to the school children in any way that they could be of help.

The bags which were received by the children happily were so nice and durable; it was manually made by the tailor to assure its quality. The bags had notebooks, ballpen and crayons in it. We and the children were very grateful for the generosity the FIBECO had shown.

A good teacher have a very important responsibility of showing the lives of young impressionable. A role model is a person who inspires, encourages us to strive for greatness. Live to our fullest potential and see the best in ourselves.

A role model is someone we admire and aspire to be like. We learn through them, through their commitment to excellence and

their ability to make us realize our own personal growth. We look for them for advice and guidance. A role model can be anybody : a parent, a sibling, a friend but some of are most influential and life changing role models are teachers. Much of what student learned from their greatest teachers is not detailed and on syllabus.

Teachers who help us grow as people are responsible for imparting some of life’s most important lessons. As teacher, you will show your students how to become independent and form their own relationship, you will carefully grow them.

Though a teacher influence on the said sphere of school lessons as students nature, these early lesson still have an effect on how they will interact with others in the future. Teachers are fonts of experience. They have already been where their students are going, undergone what they will go through and are in position to pass along lessons, not only regarding subject matter but lessons on life.

It Is not an exaggeration to say that a great teacher can change a students life.

Film Showing; Effective Approach in Teaching Asian History

Teaching should engage in different approaches in order for him to be very effective in delivering his prepared lesson. But accordingly, it is said that no one approach is good and true to all subject matters.

One approach maybe applicable to a certain topic but might not be applicable to other. This implies only that teachers should look for approaches that could suit to a certain topic to be very effective.

Film showing is a peculiar approach in teaching, maybe especially in teaching Asian History whereby students could widen their imaginative aspect of thinking. The students can fully describe their character; their culture, ways of living, the geographical formation and others. This is to enhance the use of technology or multi-media.

The use of multi-media , specifically on film showings challenge us to use this in teaching or maybe, any discipline for that matter, trying to meet the needs of our students. This is truly evident in handling classes, where the typical teaching mode is heavily dependent on lectures. Hence, one way to reach students individuality is through the use of multimedia.

In classroom, where technology is used to engage students in learning, teachers are no longer the informational giver; instead, they have become facilitators, guide and co-learners. As facilitators, teachers provide rich learning environments, experiences and activities. They create opportunities for students to work collaboratively.

Traditional classroom instruction specially, lecture would tent the student felt

bored and most of the time fall into sleep. They never be surprised any actions of teachers. They waited until time to end for a period.

This study is anchored in the theory of Film in Education (TobiaWorth, 1996) the role of film in education are necessary colored by the views taken of film as an art, film as propaganda film as communication, and the views upon the effects of film on society in general.

The theory has two general assumptions, first, that film or television is psychologically superior to words, second, that “film is a language’, that it is a language of the ‘now’ generation, and it is becoming a primary sociologically.

The first assumption tells us that film embeds actions, that, accordingly the maxim says this way that “actions speak louder than words”.

It is evident that film shows actions and accompanied

with words that forcefully made us understand about the meaning of the action that they portray. This assumption implies the clarity of the scenario seen in the film.

The second assumption, according to (Worth 1996) asserts the universality and potentialities of film as a medium. This position is reflected in the statements that film is the newest art form, with the unexplored potential to do what words have failed to do: film is multimodal, multi-sensual, sensual ( in its allied sense), and universal. Everyone, it is said, of all ages and across all to impart knowledge or information to the students.

On the action research done by the publisher of this issue, shows that those students exposed to film showing got a satisfactory result compared to the student exposed only to simple discussion in the classroom.

Scouting are the scout movement is a movement that aims to support young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development, that they may play constructive role in society with a strong focus on the outdoors and survival skills. Scouts are encouraged to work together and take the lead on all sorts of projects.

From community based works to planning games and activities for their meetings. The scout troop is the third section in the scout group, above bearers and clubs. The scout section is for young people aged between 101/2 and 14 years. Activities are integral part of scouting and make it so exciting for

the young involved. From here you should be able to find all the information you need to provide all the activities your young people can manage.

As a scout leaders an important objective is to ensure scout meetings with positive outcome. The compilation of scouting activities challenge which can be incorporated into troops to help satisfy that objective.

Effective scouting meeting activities provide the games for both fun and learning.

Even when specific scout skills are not coming in to play, there’s always an opportunity to participate cheerfully with fostering sportsmanship. As often as possible, scout should come along from a meeting

feeling happy invigorated , feeling good about scouting and good about themselves.

All participants in official Scouting activities should become familiar with the guide and safe scouting applicable program literate or manual and be aware of state or local government regulations that superside Boy Scouts of America practice, policies and guidance. Training is generally carried out under four main headings namely: Character and diligence, skills and handicraft, physical health and self- care and finally devotion to the state. The scout law is taken from the call of Knights, the scout like the medieval knight errands render service to the poor, the helpless, the needy and the oppressed people. All schools in the Province of Bukidnon particularly where I am assigned Sinuda Central Elementary School exercise these activity yearly.

While upholding children’s rights, a child friendly school also instill in the children the responsibilities to go with their right.

Among these are to respect the rights of others, respect diversity, practice equality, and resolve differences without resorting to violence.

A child friendly school takes the lead in shaping

a learning environment that enables children as much as their intellectual faculties could take. It is a kind of environment that allows them to grow healthy, equips them with knowledge and skills that they can use throughout life, and enables them to become responsible and productive members of their community and society as well.

Christmas is the perfect time for sharing the blessing to others especially to the little children. Enjoying oneself seeing others happy in the simple way of sharing. Christmas feeding in Sinuda Elementar y School was unforgettable to the pupils of Sinuda.

That day the pupils have very special treatment the most excited day through the days by. The parents were the facilitators of the program and games.

Parents also preparing their food to eat after the program. Giving time and

effort is the gorgeous gift to the pupils. That the spirit of Christmas of the IP children through Christmas feeding was unique party ever they experience in their young.

WAR ON DRUGS

The National Drug Education Program (NDEP) is the complimentary program of the government’s campaign to make our society a drugfree zone. It is in line with the Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Acts of 2002.

The NDEP is not just an time in the bulletin board.

Implementation is needed to create awareness on the ill effects of drugs and drug

abuse, and develop positive behavior to resist drugs and drug abuse even before they see and worst use it.

Thus, to intensify the program, the Kibawe Local Government Unit, the Kibawe Municipal Police Station, Eagles Club Kibawe Chapter with the cooperation of Kiorao Barangay Council and Municipal AntiDrug Abuse Council a.k.a MADAC held its symposium last December 20, 2016 in KIORAO

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. Pupil’s ages 9 up were encouraged to attend. Eightysix (86) pupils attended. The speakers were SPO3 Gella Marie B. Galendez form Kibawe MPS, Hanavelle M. Pahanguin, RN from DOh and Roderix Incillo,RN , a representative from Eagles Club. PO1 Rey Orcajada was also present as technical support in Power Point presentation.

What is TLE Subject in the K-12 Curriculum?

The Technology and Livelihood Education (or TLE) is one of the learning areas of the Secondary Education Curriculum used in our secondary schools today.

As a subject in high school, its component areas are: Home Economics, Agri-Fishery Arts, Industrial Arts, and Information and Communication Technology. But now there are more than 20 TLE electives based on the training regulations of TESDA: 1. Aquaculture; 2. Agricultural Crop Production; 3. Animal Crop Production; 4. Automative Ser vicing; 5. Bread and Pastry Production; 6.

Caregiving 7. Carpentry; 8. Commercial Cooking; 9.

Electrical Installation and Maintenance 10. Consumer Electronics Servicing; 11.

Fish processing; 12. Horticulture; 13. Household services; 14. Masonry; 15.

Mechanical drafting; 16.

Nail care; 17. Computer Hardware Ser vicing; 18.

RAC Servicing; 19. Shielded Metal Arc Welding 20. Tailoring/Dressmaking; and 21.

Tiles Setting.

TLE is also referred to as CP-TLE for Career Pathways in Technology and Livelihood Education. The 2010 Secondary Education Curriculum allocates 240 minutes per week for CP-TLE, which is equivalent to 1.2 units. However, CP-TLE is required to include practical work experience in the community, which may extend beyond its specified school hours While K-12 was designed to raise the standard of Filipino education and promote global appeal for Filipino workers, Technolog y and Livelihood Education (TLE) as conceptualized by DepEd , it will not lead to intense and productive collaboration between schools and emerging local industries in the country because the framework leans in favor of the objective of supplying workers to other countries as OFWs.

Because TLE is the central component of K-12, it is a mandatory TESDA program for all students in the country.

Other reforms like mother tongue-based education and new teaching strategies can be adopted even without restructuring the whole education set-up, according to DepEd. In Grade 9, the student chooses one TESDA course to specialize and the learner is given a Certificate of Competency. In Grade 10, the student pursues the TLE specialization course and after the end of the school year he would be given a National Certificate (NC) Level I or Level II. According to DepEd, the new curriculum is “geared towards the development of a holistically developed Filipino with 21st century skills.” One of the outcome goals of the program is to improve Philippine education standards “to be at par with international standards.”

K-12 is supposed to enhance the global competitiveness of the youth by introducing world-class teaching methods, ICT literacy, and

21st century skills in schools.

DepEd uses progressive spiral curriculum which would facilitate the holistic development of individuals.

After hurdling all these innovative learning challenges from Kindergarten to Grade 10, and after taking and passing several standardized examinations and assessment tools, the student is expected to be livelihoodinclined, and to value more the blue-collar works.

K-12 requires the teaching of TESDA subjects to all students in the high school level. A global learner is an individual who has middle level skills while possessing the right attitude and behavior in the workplace.

In short, K-12 seeks to transform all schools into producers of semi-skilled workers who are ready for work in other countries.

Under TLE, children will learn about the professional code of conduct or ethics of a household worker. They will be taught how to ‘maintain a professional image’ as household workers.

NATIONAL DEWORMING DAY

Department of Health together with the Department of Education joins force to uplift the good health of the Filipino Children by deworming. Last January 27, 2016 was the second round National Deworming Day. Gutapol Elementary School conduct the said Deworming to our pupils. By January 26, 2016 the School called the parents participation in an orientation about Deworming together with the Barangay assigned nurse, EDCOM Chair., and Barangay Health Workers. Parents were called so that their doubts and queries about deworming be answered. One hundred parents attended on the said one day-orientation and info-drive about bulate and its diseases brought in our body.

Kinds of Bulate were introduced and where it is acquired tackled by Barangay Nurse. Deworming was the answer to get rid of the other diseases experienced by a child. One example if the child is weak and inattentive in the class there is possible bulate attacks. After the info-drive the parents were signed the parent’s consent, allowing their child to take albendazole. Parents who attended the orientation hundred percent signed the parents’ consent of the said deworming. They allow their children to take albendazole

as the deworming tablet.

By Januar y 27, 2016 teachers, and other parents cooperatively cook food for feeding. Because, children must take a meal first before taking albendazole. Before feeding children in all grade level of Gutapol Elementary School simultaneously wash their hands. After feeding they brush their teeth to fight away cavities. At exactly 10:00 o’clock in the morning as the bell rung all pupils from kinder to Grade –VI took albendazole simultaneously.

There were some reactions on the child who took the said tablet; others experience headache, stomachache, and nausea. But it was controlled, all of them were given services by the in charge Nurse together with the Barangay Health workers, patients laid and others just sit down to relax, but the pain doesn’t long last as it won’t alarm us.

Other children move their bowel a minute after taking the tablet.

There were 275 enrolled pupils in Gutapol Elementary School 256 were dewormed and 24 were not. Those 24 pupils refuse as those parents who did not attend the orientation about deworming. One kindergarten was privately dewormed by her pediatrician. It was a successful hand washing, feeding, tooth brushing and a deworming day.

Compassion in the Classroom: A Real Strength for Education

THE number of decisions that teachers have to make in the course of a teaching day is enormous. That’s why there is a need for patience and compassion to students in a classroom setting. This trait cannot be developed overnight. It is a result of experience – that is why Education students need at least one semester of immersion to practice these traits, specifically developing a stronger ethic of compassion within the daily, overflowing moments of a class period.

Compassion in the classroom means putting the students above everything else.
