Lookout order against 20 NDF consultants out

THE Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday ordered the issuance of an immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) against the 20 consultants of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDF) who participated in the peace talks between the government and the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA). This comes after the termination of the Joint Agreement on Security and Immunity Guarantee (JASIG) between the government and the communist rebels. Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II issued the three-page memorandum order to Immigration Chief Jaime Morente, Prosecutor General Victor Sepulveda Janice Non and her three kids crying for justice for the fallen Corporal Pat Non whose after a Cabinet meeting in remains lie inside the chapel of the 4th Infantry Division, at Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City. In her keynote speech, Mangahas mentioned that journalists must write accurately, and emphasized that “accuracy” means getting your stories right on the level of facts and context. “Get it right on the level of facts. Furthermore, Mangahas discussed another discipline that writers must embody, “I always tell my students in journalism to use ‘simple, not multisyllabic words’ because we are not here to impress but to communicate.” Mangahas reminded the NSPC 2017 delegates that the role of a journalist is not just to tell the acute, obvious and loud stories, but also, to tell stories about crisis, which may become bigger and more essential for the betterment of the nation. Under JASIG, said NDF personalities shall be given safe conduct passes and may use aliases. Peace negotiations between the government and the NDF collapsed after both parties announced last week they were terminating their unilateral ceasefire declarations. They accused each other of bad faith. On Wednesday last week,

the CPP-NPA said it was terminating the unilateral ceasefire because the government “has complied the non-compliance by government with its obligation to amnesty and release of political prisoners,” and has “treacherously taken advantage of the unilateral declaration of interim ceasefire to encroach on the territory of the people’s democratic government.” It said government forces have continued to “engage in hostile actions, provocations or movements, surveillance and other offensive operations that are labelled as ‘peace and development’, ‘civil-military’, ‘peace and order’, ‘anti drugs campaign’, ‘medical missions’ or ‘law enforcement’.” Two days after, Duterte responded by ending too the government’s unilateral ceasefire citing the NPA attacks in parts of Mindanao that left some soldiers, including an Army lieutenant, dead. In irony, when Cain killed his brother Abel, he was so afraid that he will also be killed, but God promised his safety and if ever somebody will kill him, God will punish that man seven times harder (Genesis 4:15). To lead the chosen people of God as a model to the rest of the nations, God gave them the 10 commandments and the Mosaic Law to govern the nation. To impose the laws of the Almighty, death penalty was strictly

observed. Here are some of the passages of the Holy Bible that states the implementation of death penalty: Deuteronomy 21: 18-23, Exodus 21:12, 15, Exodus 31:14-15(Sabbath), Leviticus 20:2,10,27 and many more. Try to read these passages, you will be shocked that adultery is punishable by death, children who were rebellious will die and to the least, doing any work during Sabbath day is also a crime worthy of death penalty. Wow, how much more for drug traffickers, rapists and killers! Now, are you convinced that death penalty is in the Bible and it was instituted by God? Let us continue and answer these questions: Why is it that the Roman Catholic Church is extremely against it? Are they just attacking the good intention of our beloved President or maybe they are simply telling us that this is the message of life, hope and love. What is my stand on this issue as a bishop of our organization? Is Senator Manny Pacquiao doing right as a preacher of the gospel in supporting the revival of death penalty in our nation? The night watchman

IF the basic role of the government is to be the night watchman, then we should sleep soundly. A reliable night watchman looks after the safety of the community while the populace sleeps. Earlier this week, President Duterte convened his team, physically and by speaker phone, to discuss what was clearly a very serious problem: the reliability of a police force contaminated by so many scalawags. The meeting dragged into the wee hours, appropriately covered by journalists holding vigil at the Palace. In characteristic fashion, the President made quick decisions and barked orders in staccato fashion. He ordered police operations against illegal drugs suspended while the Philippine National Police is being rehabilitated. He declared that the effort to crush the apparatus of illegal drugs in the country would con-

tinue until the end of his term. He wanted his team to explore the possibility of reviving the Philippine Constabulary. He asked the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to take the lead in the conduct of the “war on drugs,” with support coming from the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He asked the Army to take a role in the effort to combat illegal drugs. Most dramatically, the President pronounced that the PNP is 40 percent contaminated by unscrupulous elements. That is a startling figure. It suggests a very sick organization. It suggests that the process of cleaning up the PNP might be a long and painful one. Hours after receiving their marching orders, PNP chief Ronald dela Rosa dissolved the anti-illegal drugs unit of the police. He formed a 100-man team of trusted police officers to conduct the chief of staff of the AFP.

The nocturnal meeting earlier this week was prompted by the case of Korean national Jee Ickjoo. He was kidnapped and brutally murdered late last year although the facts of the case became clear only over the past few weeks. It turns out that the men behind this dastardly crime belonged to the PNP AntiIllegal Drugs Group. Over the past few days, more evidence surfaced linking policemen to kidnapping and extortion activities using the war on drugs as cover. During the Senate hearing on the subject, Sen. Panfilo Lacson exhibited a video of policemen planting evidence moments before a raiding party descended. Several other cases of extortion were brought to light by that brave anticrime activist Teresita Ang-See. Clearly, we have a problem with the PNP. Much as our people appreciated the campaign against illegal

drugs and the diminished crime rate that came as its byproduct, the kidnapping and murder of Jee brought serious damage to the PNP’s credibility. Our people want a “cleaner” PNP to handle the job. There is no timetable announced for cleaning up the PNP. Judging by Dela Rosa’s response, however, we can expect swift action on the part of the police leadership. It could take years to complete the rehabilitation of the PNP but that does mean the campaign against illegal drugs will be shelved. PRESIDENT Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte, reacting to the brutal killing of three soldiers by the NPA in Bukidnon indignantly declared total war against the NPA rebels. He described the communist rebels as terrorists and ordered the military to fight while thousands of civilians showed their support to annihilate completely the rebels. Many of them paraded the streets with streamers urging the government to pour in more troops in areas where the rebels are living. The military has more than enough resources and weapons and I just could not see why the rebels could not be pulverized. More than 48 years of fighting and still we are being pushed to the wall. Latest report disclosed the CPP/NPA rejected President Duterte’s termination of ceasefire agreement. They still want to continue as they are seeking for peace. This is good, but why are they already making ambushes? In another development, two consultants of the National Democratic Front and the New Peoples Army were arrested in Davao city, New reports revealed that communist China is the creator of CPP/NPA in the Philippines. Powerful weapons are shipped from China and the NPA fighters are paid well with benefits too. I was really wondering that some wealthy communist countries must be behind the financing side of the NPA. They have updated weapons, nice uniforms, money and food. Many Filipinos, unlike Japan, lacked patriotism and loyalty. Many of us are traitors and even spies of the communists.

What will happen to the communist cabinet members who were appointed by Duterte and those who went to Norway for peace talk with the breakdown of ceasefire agreement between the government and the CPP-NPA and the pronouncement of Duterte for an all out war. As I said many times, democracy and communism are like oil and water that cannot be mixed altogether. ••• Another Filipino Overseas worker was killed in Kuwait. The circumstances have not been known, but the government should take part closely on probing whether there is foul play or not. We should be ready to protect our people, especially those in foreign lands working for us. Some people are already talking about World War 3, that to them has already begun. For me it has not yet begun and let us all pray it would never begin. The subject matter is too horrible that being reminded makes me horrified. It will not be the New People’s Army (NPA) that will be hit hard as Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año said in the aftermath of the lifting of the government’s ceasefire. It would rather be the lumads, farmers, activists and civilians that will be the primary casualty and targets of the AFP’s new state of operations under Oplan Kapayapaan. This will be contrary to Año’s claim that the AFP will “protect the peace in communities” and “work for peace”. This will rather unmask the AFP and Año’s true nature as disruptor of peace, and violator of human rights. We have to recall Año’s track record as a man in uniform. Under his watch as ISAFG, he has arrested NDF negotiators and consultants Wilma and Benito Tiamzon. His unit is also linked to the disappearance of Jonas Burgos, a farmer activist and son of press freedom icon Jose Burgos. Año was also implicated in the infamous Paquibato Massacre in Davao City during his term as commander in the 10th Infantry Division. Indeed, under his watch as AFP Chief of Staff, the AFP ran roughshod with the government ceasefire as it continually operated on lumad and civilian communities, and attacked the NPAs as shown in the operations in Makilala as the peace talks were underway, and recent encounters also in Malalag and Manay, Davao Oriental. Lumad leaders were also killed by riding-in-tandem suspects, the modus of hitmen linked to the military, as in the case of Nico Delamante who resisted mining operations in Claver, Surigao del Sur last January 20 and
