Feeding partnerhip with non-profit group forged GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- The provincial government of South Cotabato has linked up with non-profit group Assisi Development Foundation (ADF) for the expansion of its continuing supplementary feeding program. Ma. Ana Uy, provincial nutrition action officer, said Monday the province has been chosen by ADF as beneficiary of its innovative Hapag-asa Integrated Nutrition Program. She said the group will specifically conduct supplementary feeding activities to malnourished children in parts of the province’s 10 towns and lone city. “The project will focus on children in remote areas
in the province,” she said. Uy said the initiative will be implemented in the local government’s Barangay Affairs Unit (BAU) in coordination with the Provincial Nutrition Office. BAU, which is under the office of the provincial governor, mainly caters to the needs of marginalized residents in remote areas within the province. It facilitates the provision of livelihood, skills training, health and nutrition interventions. Uy said ADF initially delivered around PHP1 million worth of compact food packs for the targeted beneficiaries. She said the food packs

The President and the governor met with the fallen officer’s parents and fiancé at the wake and offered them their sincere condolences. Each official briefly talked with the mourning family, who are heartbroken over the death of the young officer whose promising life was cut short at the young age of 26.

GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Around PHP527 million worth of special projects funded by the national government are set for implementation this year in parts of South Cotabato province. South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance-Fuentes said Monday such funding comprise the initial grants for the province that were approved for funding and implementation by various national line agencies. “These are mostly priority infrastructure projects that will be implemented with minimal (funding) counterpart from the provincial government,” she said.
A report released by the local government said some PHP366.926 million worth of projects are due for implementation under the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces, formerly KALSADA program, implemented by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
