AVAO CITY -- The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) is eyeing Mindanao as the future site of economic zones in the country.
PEZA director general, Charito Plaza, disclosed at the recent opening of the Mindanao Ecozone Summit, held at the Grand Regal Hotel, here, that PEZA is keen on building economic zones in the provinces and cities of Mindanao, and will soon craft a roadmap to identify areas in the island where ecozones could be established.

Education entrepreneurs must be patient, flexible and outcome-oriented. K-12 education entrepreneurs need to pursue opportunities with diligence and persistence because public K-12 education does not have agile purchasing processes that allow for quick purchasing decisions and for the
ready adoption of selected products. As government entities, school districts are required to abide by regulations and procurement policies before a district grants a contract to a vendor. The often lengthy and tedious request for proposal process is slow and mires the pace of product innovation and adoption. It is also important that education entrepreneurs

The percentage of students whose parents reported involvement in their schools rose significantly according to a study conducted across several measures, including attendance at a general meeting, a meeting with a teacher, or a school event, and volunteering or serving on a committee. However, would these proportions attract to more parents to do the same? Students with parents who are involved in their school tend to have fewer behavioural problems and
better academic performance, and are more likely reach graduation than those pupils whose parents are not involved in their school. Positive effects of parental involvement have been demonstrated at both the elementary and secondary levels across several studies, with the largest effects often occurring at the elementary. Recent meta-analysis showed that parental involvement in school life was more strongly associated with high academic performance for middle
schoolers than helping with homework. Involvement allows parents to monitor school and classroom activities, and to coordinate their efforts with teachers to encourage acceptable classroom behaviour and ensure that the child completes schoolwork. Teachers of pupils with highly involved parents tend to give greater attention to those pupils, and they are more likely to identify at earlier stages problems that might inhibit pupil learning. Parental involvement in school, and positive parent-teacher interactions, has also been
found to positively affect teachers’ self-perception and job satisfaction. Research shows that students perform better in school if their fathers as well as their mothers are involved, regardless of whether the father lives with the student or not.
