TAGUM CIT Y, Davao del Norte -- The town of Nabunturan in Compostela Valley lost around P37million worth of rice production and infrastructure projects over the recent flooding that affected the whole region last week. The Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council revealed that around 520 hectares of rice plantations costing around P6.65-million were damaged due to the flood. The report noted that most of the plantations plowed by 470 farmers, which was mostly in the vegetative phase, was submerged for three days. See loses, page A3
DAVAO CITY -- Mindanao Development Authority chair Abul Kayr Alonto bared that trade with Sabah, Malaysia, re-opens on February 1, 2017. Speaking at the Habi at Kape press forum, he said that as per announcement made by the chief minister of Sabah, Malaysia has lifted the ban of doing business with the Philippines Islands of Sulu and Tawi-tawi. TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte – Some 80 barangay workers of Barangay Fatima in New Bataan, Compostela Valley, have been trained from January 30 up to February 3 on Communitybased Disaster Risk and Reduction Management (CBDRRM). Municipal Information Officer Celso Casia said the town’s Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office has outlined an integrated training to all barangays that aims to establish among others, barangay incident management team, community evacuation plan, early warning system, and policies on relief distribution and evacuation centers. Fatima was one of the barangays in the municipalities that have been affected by flooding due to continuous rains in the region brought by the tail end of the cold front. The latest flood in the municipality killed one man in the town and destroyed more than PhP66-million worth of agricultural crops, livestock and infrastructure project. 201 house-helpers grace Kasambahay Day 2017 DAVAO CITY -- A total of 201 house-helpers turned out in the 4th Kasambahay Day celebration, held at the San Pedro College Gymnasium over the weekend. Mayor Sara DuterteCarpio, in here message, congratulated the TaskKasambahay for organizing the 4th Kasambahay Day celebration. She also prodded on the house-helpers to enjoy the fun and games intended for
