DA 10 holds Regional Artificial Insemination Forum. Cagayan de Oro City – The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 10 held a Regional Artificial Insemination Forum on December 14 in the city. The AI forum was spearheaded by the Livestock Program of the department and was attended by AI technicians all over the region. The event was conducted to give the AI technicians updates on the livestock breeding extension program Unified National Artificial Insemination Program (UNAIP), inform them about the programs and services offered by the department along with its attached bureaus and agencies and to improve the quality of reporting and monitoring by the AI technicians by introducing the Electronic Reporting System Training. In his closing message, Regional Artificial Insemination Coordinator Leo G. Osalvo, thanked the participants for attending the forum and encouraged them to avail of the programs and services of the department such as the one month AI basic training. Academic Performance and Attitude Towards Students in Differentiated Instruction

“Differentiated instruction has become the model that education system are recommending implementation to provide teaching that is tailored to learning needs of each students in the classroom. This investigated how differentiated teaching affected students’ performance in Science subject of New Nongnongan National High SchoolAnnex. Specifically, the study aimed to describe the profile of the students in the differentiated and nondifferentiated instruction in terms of their dominant intelligence, determine the level of academic per-

formance of the students in science when exposed to differentiated and nondifferentiated instruction; assess the students’ attitudes when exposed to differentiated and non-differentiated instruction. Find out if there is a significant difference in academic performance between students in differentiated and to those in non-differentiated instruction; ascertain the academic performance of the students in differentiated instruction when classified according to dominant intelligence and assess if there is significant difference in the academic performance if students are

grouped to their dominant intelligence.

A quasi–experimental research design was employed in this study. A teacher made achievement test, A Multiple Intelligence Inventory check list adopted from McKenzie (1999) an Attitude Survey adopted from Barmby et al (2008) were the assessment instrument used in the study. Descriptive statistics such as the mean, percentage, standard deviation ,ANCOVA, and ANOVA were used. Results of the study revealed that the academic performance of the students exposed to differentiated instruction was significantly higher than the performance of

students in non – differentiated class. The attitudes of students both were positive to science.

The kinesthetic learners of differentiated groups had satisfactory performance compared to learners in other intelligence group who had fairly satisfactory performance only. However, the performance of students in differentiated instruction when group to their dominant intelligence was not significantly different from each other. Students when given the activities that suit their interests and intelligence had maximum performance which was not different from each others.

BUTUAN CITY- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)Caraga through the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) is continuously encouraging the Local Government Units (LGUs), National Government Agencies (NGAs), Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), and other partner-stakeholders to avail the statistical data of the updated Listahanan Database.

As to date, a total of 19 LGUs requested for the statistical data to be used for their planning and formulation of the Social Protection Development Report (SPDR) and others.

At present, the Department cannot yet share the list of the families identified in the updated Listahanan Database due to the full implementation of R.A. 10173, otherwise known as the Data Privacy Act (DPA) of 2012. With this, the department is required to revise first its policies on information disclosure and data sharing.

Give Love and Joy on Christmas Day: Community Outreach Program

The Grade 11 GAS (G eneral Academic Strand) students of New Nongnongan National High School-Annex of San Nicolas,Don Carlos, Bukidnon Conducted Community Outreach Program entitled “Give Love and Joy on Christmas Day” on December 17,2016 at Purok 6, San Nicolas, Don Carlos, Bukidnon. This program was spearheaded by Ms. Ma. Irish P .Abad, the class adviser with the help of her collaborator Ms. Gine Barrientos, Mrs. Maria Cristina Dolor Ms. Gilgilda Sanchez and Mr. Jefferson Blanco with the guidance of the School Principal Mr. Fernando T. Garcia.

The program was supported by the generous stakeholders who gave their voluntary donations ( cash or in-kind) to sustain the different ac t iv it ies, w hich include dissemination of the information about dengue,Chikungunya, and zika virus; promote proper hygiene, promote active

recreational activitites in developing health ad fitness in the community through dancing, singing, parlor games; conduct feeding program, gift giving which includes school supplies, tooth brush with tooth paste, combs, clothes, noodles canned goods, biscuits, and candies.

The children enjoyed playing the parlor games, dancing ,singing, eating the foods that we brought for them. The grade 11 students taught them how to wash their hands properly as well as the proper brushing of their teeth.

The parent as well received simple gifts like clothes, bags and sardines.

The activity was successfully done with the cooperation of the Indigenous Person Representative Mrs. Rotchelyn Balahan and the Purok President Mr. Warlito Templado.

As of now, the project leader is still scanning for possible big sponsor that would help them for the upcoming Community Outreach Program.

PERA launched at the BSP The Personal Equity Retirement Account (PERA) was launched at the Main Office of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on 16 December, culminating several years of preparations among government agencies and market players.

As a voluntary retirement account, PERA provides an organizing framework to help Filipinos 18 years old and above prepare for their eventual retirement. The PERA law, crafted in 2008 as Republic Act 9505, provides tax benefits while instilling the saving discipline of making annual contributions to their own account.

“We have been working with various government agencies and we are happy to see PERA come into fruition. PERA is certainly a major step towards improving the financial wellbeing of Filipinos,” according to BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco Jr. Unlike existing national or corporate pension schemes, PERA does not require a deduction from

one’s salary to accumulate funds.

Instead, PERA relies on an individual’s decision to invest up to Phpl00,000 annually to prepare for retirement. The PERA law allows individuals to open up to five PERA accounts and these can be invested in specific PERAaccredited product lines. Overseas Filipino Workers are provided the additional benefit of being able to invest up to Php200,000 annually which is twice the normal limit.

“Since we have a very young population and typically strong family ties, we tend to overlook preparing for our own retirement.

PERA addresses this by providing all the essential elements - from governance to products to financial literacy to incentives - so that we can properly get started,” Governor Tetangco added.

Individuals who like to open their PERA will do so thru accredited PERA administrators. Upon their own choice, they can engage a PERA investment manager who

can help them with investment advise. The BSP and the BIR had so far accredited Banco de Oro and Bank of the Philippine Islands as PERA institutional administrators, in addition to the 61 professionals who have passed the individual PERA accreditation examination.

PERA law proponent and former Senator Edgardo J. Angara took part in the ceremonial switch on of the PERA system. Other legislators from the Senate and House of Representatives were also in attendance.

Joining them are top officials from the BSP, Department of Finance, Securities and Exchange Commission, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and Insurance Commission. Also on hand were representatives from the Asian Development Bank and the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction, which provided a technical grant in support of PERA. Members of the banking community likewise graced the occasion.
