God knows your fight in life The Gospel of Jesus Christ (December19, 2016-Monday) Mark 10:2831”Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel: 2 Timothy 4:6-8”For I am
now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good “fight,” I have finished [my] course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Can you die for God’s glory? Take note, martyr-
dom is the shortest way to heaven. Your attitude is tested if you will choose God or to deny him in times of pressures. You need to love him more than anything else. You need to prioritize God because he will care everything for your favors. Remember: God cares. God thinks for your benefits only although sometimes he does it in disguise by allowing you to experience different adversities in life.
He does this to develop you internally: Psychologically, physically and emotionally. Nothing is wasted because all your efforts are rewarded. Nothing is left behind in the sight of the living God because he knows every little detail of your sacrifices. God knows your fight in life. God knows your emotional distress because of your efforts to do his will. You need to give up a certain thing sometimes to

“So maligaya ako, except for the extremists,” he said, referring to the Maute, but even then, he said, he would not want to wage a war against them “since they are also Filipinos.” The government is prospecting for things that would end hostilities, he said. “Sana lang naman, makinig sila…. Naghahanap kami ng paraan para ma-accommodate kayo…. We are looking below and above for a compromise.” As for the age-old communist insurgency, the President expressed optimism on the ongoing peace talks. But, he assured the nation, “the negotiators will not abandon the things that we crave for our country” – referring to some demands
that appear counter to the country’s democratic traditions. The President spoke on his administration’s other concerns. “I ask everybody in government that together we stop corruption,” he said. He said he will not stop until he has put an end to the problem of illegal drugs. And the President declared, “I plead for peace, so that our citizens can move around any time of day or night.” Peace will come with unity in the conflict areas of Mindanao, but peace is equally important to other parts of the country. Peace and unity – this was the core of the President’s message as he led the Christmas tree lighting ceremony on the Malacanang grounds.

PRESIDENT DUTERTE’S EARLY CHRISTMAS MESSAGE President Duterte led the lighting of the Christmas tree in Malacañang Monday night. Christmas Day was still about three weeks away but his words that night could well be the core of his Christmas message to the nation. “I plead for the unity of the country, that we shall be freed of communal wars,” he said, referring to the continued fighting in Mindanao. He lauded the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) which, he said, “has shown its sincerity to talk to us about peace.” Nur Misuari of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) “has also said he will work with us in government to find peace.”

MESSAGE FOR DECEMBER FESTIVITIES December is truly the Month of Festivity in Cotabato City as we celebrate our grandest festival the Shariff Kabunsuan and we also observe the Christmas season. For us Cotabateños, it is very important that we do not fail to look back and remember the significant events in the olden times that shaped us as the people that we are now. For our Muslim brothers and sisters, the arrival of Shariff Mohammed Kabunsuan to the shores of this part of Mindanao is one of the most remarkable episodes of our past as he introduced Islam to the native settlers. It is also the time that our Christian communities are celebrating the Christmas season as they look back on the time when Jesus Christ was born. As our families and friends gather together during the yuletide season, may we do so with love and peace in our hearts. In the midst of our celebrations, let us not forget to give thanks to the Almighty for blessing our dear Cotabato City with progress and development that we have been yearning for the longest time. Together, let us pray for lasting peace so our city will continue to soar to great heights and be able to be at par with the other highly developed and urbanized cities in the country. On behalf of the City Government of Cotabato, my sincerest greetings to my fellow Cotabateños of a Happy Shariff Kabunsuan Festival and a joyful celebration of the Christmas season! Sigay Ka!

DILG to PNP, BFP, LGUs: Make the Christmas holidays safe Agencies told to regulate firecracker sale, use WITH President Duterte’s deferment of his plan to impose a nationwide firecracker ban, Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno said concerned agencies will have to work together to regulate and control the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices. In Memorandum Circular No. 2016-176, Sueno also enjoined the Philippine National Police (PNP),Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and local government units (LGUs) to adopt advocacy campaigns and measures to prevent firecracker and
firework-related injuries or death and damage to properties during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. “To keep Christmas and New Year celebrations safe for all Filipinos, all concerned agencies will have to be on their toes to see to it that all existing regulations on the sale and use of firecrackers will be complied with,” he said. The Secretary issued the directive due to consistent high statistics of injuries and fatalities emanating from the indiscriminate use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices despite the ban on their manufacture
and sale. Republic Act No. 7183 regulates the sale, manufacture and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices. In his directive,Sueno urged city and municipal mayors to cause the enactment of an ordinance which regulates firecracker manufacture and use and promote an alternative form of revelry. “Mayors should also take the lead in the conduct of an information campaign within their localities on the dangers of fire due to the use of firecrackers as well as on the dangers of using

Bonagua said that businesses may choose from the following schemes for public-private partnership: build and transfer, buildlease-and-transfer, built operate transfer, contractadd-and operate, develop-operate-and-transfer, rehabilitate-operate-andtransfer, concession, joint venture, lease or merely a management contract. The PCCI is the leading partner of the government in its Public-Private Partnership for the People Initiative (LGU P4), bringing with it See focus, page B7
