Agusan Sur governor offers life to bring peace to lumad villages By CHRIS V. PANGANIBAN Contributing Editor

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur--You can kill me instead rather than the innocent impoverished farmers in the hinterland villages of the province. This was the challenge aired by Gov. Adolph Edward Plaza as he called on armed tribal warriors or locally known as “Magahats” to stop the atrocities in the upland lumad villages in neighboring La Paz and Loreto towns which already claimed the lives of at least 20 residents.

“They can kill me. Just text message me the place where you will execute me so that I can tell them that the reason why we are here is because we want to give all of you the chance to develop your economic condition and bring peace all over your place,” Plaza told residents of Kasapa II village in La Paz town during his visit on Tuesday. Plaza learned about the killings when a concerned resident confided to him that DIALOGUE. Agusan del Sur Gov. Adolph Edward Plaza (in green sleeveless jacket) the Magahats have been sowing terror in presided the dialogue with tribal leaders in the hinterland village of Kasapa II in prepalumad communities for no ration for a “tampuda (peace agreement)” to end the hostilities in the area.
