Piñol assures support for Organic Agriculture CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – “Ako mismo ang bebenta ng mga produkto ninyo,” says Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol as he committed himself to be the sales head for organic and naturally grown products, before more than a thousand delegates during the recent conduct of the 13th National Organic Agriculture (OA) Congress, held in Laoag City, recently. Bearing the theme: “Organiko a Wagas: Tatao Ken Aglawlaw Nadur-as (Organic Way: For People, Environmental Sustainability and Progress), the confab focused on putting premium the marching order of the Duterte administration of

ORO QUIETA CIT Y – Around 200 farmer-graduates from Oroquieta City and the municipality of Aloran graduated from the School-on-the-Air (SOA) Program on Livestock Production, Meat Safety and Processing of the Department of Agriculture– Regional Field Office 10 (DA-RFO 10). Following the completion of the three-month long program, a graduation ceremony was held on December 2, 2016 at the Provincial Cultural and Farmers Training Center, Misamis Occidental. The department’s Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS) along with the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Misamis

Occidental spearheaded the SOA Livestock Program. It ran from August to November 2016, where the farmer enrollees were given quizzes and a final exam to measure their knowledge and determine the outstanding performers from the program, which aimed to guide the farmers on the proper livestock management and for them to generate more income. In his message, Provincial Agriculturist Dennis C. Leopoldo thanked the efforts of the farmers and expressed his hopes that they have understood and soon adapt to the new technologies in the livestock industry through the SOA program.
