Comelec disqualifies Ejercito By Ferdinand G. Patino of Philippine News Agency

VOTING 7-0, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has affirmed the disqualification of Laguna Governor Emilio Ramon “E.R.” Ejercito for overspending during the May 2013 elections. In a 21-page resolution released on Wednesday, the Commission en banc upheld the decision of the poll body’s First Division last September 26, that found Ejercito spending beyond his Php 4.5 million campaign spending limit or Php 3 for each of the 1,525,522 registered voters in the province. The ruling also unseats the incumbent Laguna official.

LANAO del Sur Electric Cooperative (Lasureco) General Manager Sultan Ashary P. Maongco slapped a town mayor and his aides with criminal complaints before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor at the Hall of Justice in Marawi City on May 19. Ashary identified Ditsaan Ramain Ali Untao Adiong of Lanao del Sur, his driver, a man with scars in his arm, and at least 10 John Does as responsible behind the burning of JERA truck with mounted crane in the morning of May 13, 2014, an allegation which Adiong belied. The Lasureco and the Department of Energy (DOE) jointly funded the 69/13.2 KV Lines projects––and contracted the services of JERA General Construction to install concrete electric poles and distribution lines.

MISAMIS Oriental––The provincial government of Misamis Oriental has released an additional P 2.4 million for cash assistance to various public schools in the province, Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano said on Monday. Emano said that the amount will be extended to school principals from P 5,000 to P 50,000 cash aid, depending on the need of the school. He said that cash assistance now covers both the public provincial and national high schools in Misamis Oriental. Last week, the provincial government has distributed about P 550,000 cash assistance to principals of 11 public elementary schools in Misamis Oriental to help in the repair of dilapidated schools.
