7 wounded in grenade explosion COTABATO City––Seven persons were wounded, including a young girl when a grenade exploded, followed by an exchange of gunfire at the public market in Poblacion 2, Parang, Maguindanaogr, Maguindanao at around 5:45 p.m. Frdiay. THE Task Force Iwas Paputok will hold an inspection today (Monday, December 22) and tomorrow (Tuesday, December 23) in Cagayan de Oro City at shops that are selling firecrackers and similar items in connection with Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve revelries. Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 10 spokesperson Engr. Noli dela Rita said that one of the techniques they have decided to try this year to prevent more firecracker injuries and implement a zero casualty program is to let the victims of previous firecracker incidents speak out. Dela Rita said that the Ms. Eleanor Cadampog and Ms Millie Fung distribute food gift packs to residents of barangay Awang, Opol, Misamis Oriental. The Christmas gift giving was undertaken by the New Jian Hua Mining Corp. as part of its outreach firecracker victims program in host communities.

CAGAYAN de Oro City–– The New Jian Hua Mining Corp. held its annual Christmas parties for its host communities in Opol and Manticao, Misamis Oriental, last Wednesday and Thursday. A total of 450 households in barangay Upper Malubog, Manticao, and 500 house-
holds in barangay Awang, Opol, benefited from the gift giving. New Jian Hua Mining representative Eleanor Cadampog said the gift packs included food items for noche buena with slippers and clothes for children. Cadampog said the activity was held in coordina-
