HS Summit discusses future of K12 students

CAGAYAN de Oro City -About 200 representatives from the academia, education officials and stakeholders in the private and public sector met in this seaport capital Tuesday for a “Senior High School Summit” here. Secretary Armin Luistro, of the Department of Education (DepEd), who flew here as guest of speaker, told that the participants of the importance of the summit aimed at preparing the current batch of ninth graders into senior high school students by 2016. Under the K+12 educa-

tional systems, the ninth grader is equivalent to the third year high school student (junior) in the old educational system. The 10th grader is equivalent to the fourth year high school (senior) students. Zambo crop damage due to dry spell soars to P140M ZAMBOANGA City -- The City Agriculturist disclosed that the damage to agricultural and fishery products due to the prolonged dry spell had further soared to P140.8 million as of April 8. CAGAYAN de Oro City -- A British national was found dead in the state of decomposition Tuesday afternoon in his rented house in Canito-an, Cagayan De Oro City, the police said. Police Inspector Christian Caballes, of the Scene of the Crime Operatives

(SOCO), identified the British national as Christopher Lenard King. Caballes said that the SOCO operatives have ruled out possible foul play since there were no signs of resistance or forcible entry into Kings rented apartment. Police investigators, however, recovered assorted medicines in the vicitm’s
