CAGAYAN de Oro City––A total of 289 kilos of tilapia was harvested for the first time this year from a 500-square meter fish pond project of Congresswoman Juliette Uy in barangay Kimaya, Villanueva. The fish pond is one of several undertaken by the office of the congresswoman in partnership with Mayor Julio Uy. Barangay chairman Celso Yagma and barangay councilor Jorgino Caronia Sr. led local officials in harvesting the fish from the demo fish pond. There are around 20 other smaller fish ponds in the barangay which is abundant in natural water supply. Caronia said a kilo of tilapia equals four fishes on the average. The fish pond project of the Congresswoman Uy is one of her livelihood programs in the 2nd district of Misamis Oriental. The program includes funding for the feeds to be given to the fish.
