BUTUAN City––Agusan del Norte First District Rep. Lawrence Lemuel Fortun wants an investigation of how the guidelines of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on increases of tuition and other school fees have been monitored and complied with. According to Fortun, numerous complaints from parents of college students of rising school fees had prompted him to file a resolution directing the House Committee on Education to look into what CHED had achieved in its monitoring function of universities and colleges’ compliance with tuition guidelines. Pursu ant to CHED Memorandum Order No. 3, Series of 2012, all higher educational institutions that plan to increase tuition and other fees shall submit a proposal alongside pertinent documents to CHED regional offices. CAGAYAN de Oro City–– Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Northern Mindanao has captured an Engineer who allegedly transports illegal drugs here, PDEA officials said Tuesday. SURIGAO City––Fishermen in a coastal village here caught a rare giant fish early morning Tuesday, which awed residents owing to the fish’s size. Energito B. Navigational facilities to maximize use of Misor airport By MARK FRANCISCO, Reporter

SENATOR JV Ejercito welcomed the recent installation of navigational facilities at Laguindingan airport in Misamis Oriental. In a press conference over the weekend, Ejercito said the navigational facilities

are essential for the maximized use of the airport. This, even as he opined that the Laguindingan airport is one of the nicest domestic airports in the country. “In my trips as senator, I have been in a lot of places. Your airport here in Cagayan

de Oro is one of the best,” he said. By November this year, Laguindingan airport can already accommodate night landings and takeoffs and Ejercito said he is looking forward for a red-eye flight towards Cagayan de Oro. The SKY-KR Consortium has already

finished the installation of the Air Navigation System and Support Facilities ahead of the November 20 target completion date. To complement the airport, Ejercito is now batting for the realization of the Mindanao railway system. See airport, page A7
